Chapter 14 - Chapter 13-Fleeting Feelings Emerge

"Bye! Have fun at the dance!"Aiyana yelled from the limousine to Amarion and the other teenagers, waving from the large, open window. She had an amazing time talking to Amarion,Alexandria, and Aaron on the ride to their respective schools.Aiyana wasn't really surprised that she had fun engaging in conversation with the triplets, but she was very eager and exhilarated to do so with them nevertheless.

"We will! You guys have a great first homecoming night, okay?"Amarion shouted back, waving at Aiyana with his right hand high in the air.

"I'll text you after the dance,so you can tell me all about how much fun you and Fumiko had!"Alexandria added, mirroring her brother's enthusiasm and excitement. She was pretty happy knowing how much fun Aiyana was probably going to have at the homecoming dance, especially with Fumiko attending as her little homecoming date.

Alexandria cooed at the idea of Fumiko and Aiyana going to the dance together, combined with the fact that they always seemed so peace whenever they're by each other's side. She thought seeing them interact was adorable because of how much you tell they cared about each other just by watching their interactions together.

"Okay! I will tell you about everything later!"Aiyana cheerfully replied, bearing a wide smile.

She closed the window and sat back down in her seat in limousine. Before the excitement could wear off a little bit,Fumiko's tap on her shoulder interrupted the process...not that Aiyana cared that she was technically inconvenience in a way.She was always happy to talk to Fumiko,so it was no skin off her back or anything.

"Hm! What's up?"Aiyana responded quickly, her curiosity piqued by Fumiko.

The long, jet black haired girl stared into Aiyana's dark brown eyes with her own violet purple eyes. She could tell Fumiko definitely had something on her mind,no matter how significant or insignificant it may have been in the grand scheme of things.Aiyana looked at Fumiko's face expression, trying to study it before she looked down at the floor of the limousine.A few silent seconds passed by until Fumiko finally broke the silence.

"How were you able to talk those teenagers so easily?"Fumiko inquired, sounding a little confused and insecure.Well, handling social situations involving talking to people comfortably without being a bit apprehensive was an insecurity of Fumiko's.It has never been something she liked thinking about or dwelling on excessively.

Fumiko always made sure to never let anyone she conversed with know that it was sometimes stressful talking to them, not because she was not fond of them or anything extreme like that...she just worried about letting "imperfect" parts of her personality slip out during conversations. She could be a bit weird at times and say really embarrassing or TMI things, which she worried made people dislike her or not want to talk to her because they thought she was ill-mannered.

Behind the very formal, graceful, feminine, and polite girl's outward demeanor that most knew as Fumiko "Ivy" Campbell was a quiet, shy, and sometimes very weird girl who wanted to be as well-liked as her outer personality. She longed for that kind of acceptance without abandonment, the only few people she found it in was Aiyana and a few of her other close friends.Excluding her most of immediate family members,of course...they were also very kind and accepting people.

"Oh,it was easy!"Aiyana started off, which made Fumiko feel a little bit bad about herself.

"How could it be so easy if it's so hard for me?"Fumiko exclaimed,a mix of shock and disappointment.

"I just made basic conversation about things we have in common, that's a good place to start when talking to people."Aiyana explained, wanting Fumiko to understand the basis.

She knew Fumiko was insecure about her friend-making skills and people skills in general. The whole thing made Aiyana's heart ache with a few sprinkles of sadness whenever she tell Fumiko was getting a little overwhelmed or nervous while in mid-conversation with someone.Although nobody else notice because Fumiko was exceptionally skilled at hiding it,her facade was growing weaker and Fumiko becoming more overwhelmed.

"I know it's hard for you to talk to other people when you're trying make friends, but you just need to put yourself out there a little."Aiyana said, comforting Fumiko with an understanding tone and a warm hug from behind.

"I know,I just haven't gotten the right motivation to practice...but you're really inspiring to keep persisting."Fumiko replied, touching Aiyana's arm with her hand.

"You know I can help you become more comfortable talking to other people,I mean after all...they are just people with feelings and a beating heart like you."Aiyana began, fiddling with a few strands of Fumiko's hair.

"So...just be yourself because all of you is amazing, imperfections and all."Aiyana finished, grabbing Fumiko's shoulders to look her in the eyes.

She wanted Fumiko to understand that everything she said was from the heart and it was all truthful,no sugarcoating...just the pure, raw truth about how capable she was.Fumiko was successful in just about everything she did because of her determination to be successful in everything she did.

Aiyana knew if was something Fumiko really wanted to achieve for herself, she would do it without complaining or taking the easy out.

"You always see the good in me and you always see my potential...thank you for always allowing me the chance to prove myself at my own speed."Fumiko said, leaning her forehead against Aiyana's.

"There's no need to thank me when you make it easy."Aiyana replied, smiling with a slight chuckle.

The two girls looked down at their laps and saw their hands intertwined. They quickly removed their hands from each other and laughed a bit,not knowing what had occurred right under their noses. It was somewhat unexpected from each girl and the awkward few seconds of silence that followed made it a little awkward, but nothing shared laughter and comments on their reactions couldn't fix.

Part of them knew it was something they needed to talk to about at a later time.Their intertwined hands and forehead touch made them feel...different than what they were used to,but currently in the limousine wasn't the right time at all for that conversation to ensue. They wanted to be alone together for that important yet slightly nerve-wracking conversation.A sudden stop of the limousine changed the current mood in atmosphere, something Fumiko and Aiyana didn't necessarily mind because it distracted them.

"Hey lovebirds! We have arrived at your homecoming dance now!"The limo driver exclaimed, waiting for the girls to get out.

Fumiko & Aiyana's faces simultaneously turned red in embarrassment and annoyance. They looked at each other like they wanted to give the driver a piece of their mind for such a rude and snarky comment.Aiyana was absolutely speechless and her mouth dropped so low,she almost hurt her jaw in the process. Her cheeks were pumping a lot of hot blood, making the deep red color again her deep brown, caramel skintone noticeable. She was extremely embarrassed and upset, the fact being made clear by her attempt at trying to speak with only sounds coming out.

"Why would he make such a bold assumption like that? It is incredibly rude and disrespectful to assume someone's sexuality without proof!"Fumiko thought to herself, angrily fuming with arms crossed and cheeks a very noticeable hot pink color.

"Should I check him? I really feel I should because that was so rude and embarrassing."Aiyana asked, turning to look at Fumiko with a angry expression.

"No,forgot about him...tonight is about us having good time together."Fumiko said,matter-of-factly.

"Don't give in and let him bother you,he will find satisfaction knowing we are bothered."Fumiko added, walking to the door of the limousine without acknowledging the driver.

Aiyana followed suit, deciding to just forget about it like Fumiko said.Tonight was supposed to special and about the two having fun together. So,who cares if people make jokes about them being a couple when their opinions never mattered in the first place. However,Aiyana would be lying if she said the accusation didn't make her feel a little embarrassed or weird for how she interacted with Fumiko. If even that's how she was feeling on the inside because of onlookers, she wouldn't let that stop her from being physically affectionate with Fumiko.

Nothing anybody said could make her stop wanting to be with Fumiko, even if they said things that were mean, annoying,or just cruel. She only had one life to live and Fumiko was going to be apart of that life, regardless of anybody felt about it.Not even her own fleeting feelings of embarrassment or shame would hold her back.Or the other feelings that were starting to emerge inside of her....
