Chapter 27 - Chapter 25

Chandler's POV

We were happy and had fun yesterday, right? What happened? And why Thaddeus picked her up? These are only some of the questions that keep bugging my mind. Especially Thaddeus, I sense something. Back when in high school, he shows clues and signs to Ken. I can see that, he likes her until now. And now, he's seizing the opportunity to make Ken fall in love with him.

Plus, the way he smirked at me yesterday. He's planning something, he's stealing my girl. I am a guy, I know our ways.

"Chan." A voice that made me stumbled on the floor said. Then, I stood up and saw it's my dad.

"Hey, Dad! What brings you here?"

"Good morning, just checking on you. Have you slept well, son?"

"I couldn't sleep, Dad."

"Something's bothering you?" He asked while adjusting his eye glasses.

I sighed. He knows everything about me. I can't hide anything from him. "Yes, Dad. How could you tell?"

"I was right. I know you are distracted because I rang your door bell repeatedly but no one opens the door. The landlady called you on the phone but you didn't answer it. I called you from downstairs, you couldn't hear me. I had ordered a meal for both of us and have them delivered yet you were not aware, so I climbed up here. You are an alert boy when you are normal, so I am so right, a big problem bothers you and makes you unaware."

"Yeah, you know because you are my father."

"The foods are ready, let's eat and we'll talk after. I got a present for Ken, give it to her for me."

"You don't want to give it yourself?"

"I don't interact with others that much, Chan. I'm shy and busy at the same time. I just want to eat with you earlier but on the way, I saw something that might be a great gift for your girlfriend."

"I see. Thanks Dad, knowing Ken, she appreciates gifts that came from the heart."

"Okay." He said and headed downstairs. I fixed my hair and face first, and closed the door before heading downstairs.

Nakita ko si Dad na nakaupo na sa tapat ng lamesa. Na-pangiti ako dahil lagi niya akong naaalala. Madalas sa tawag niya ako kinukumusta kasi abala siya sa trabaho niya. Ayaw niyang ibigay ang responsibility sa ibang tao sa company, i-gi-give up niya lang ang trabaho niya as a CEO kapag nag-take over na kami ni Chandria. And I observed--while on the stairs--how much he looked older than before. Perhaps the company gives him so much stress.

I continued my walk and sat in front of my father, "Dad, are you stressing yourself too much? You're looking older than it supposed to be."

"Am I? It's okay, son. I have so many businesses, including the ones for your future. I'm doing everything for you and your sister, as long as I am happy, I won't get tired." He explained.

I smiled once again as I look at my father. All my life, I didn't even see him slack on his work. He works hard for his children. He didn't neglect us, he gives his best for me and my sister. I am beyond thankful to have him as our father, and if I have given another chance to choose a father next lifetime, I will choose him.

"Stop staring at me and eat," He ordered that brought me back to my senses. "Don't let the foods get cold."

I followed and help myself to eat everything he brought.

As soon as we're finished, I cleaned and tidy up the dishes. Dad went outside to get the present for Ken. I was curious about it but he just said he wants to bring his future daughter in law presents. I agreed, I can say he likes Ken for me, and never ever forbid me when it comes to my relationship with Ken.

Then a thought stroke me, pwede ko ring isabay ang regalong iniwan ko doon sa college house namin, kasi hindi naman pumupunta si Ken doon, there's no way she can get it. Isasabay ko na yun sa pagbisita ko sa kaniya.

I stopped thinking when Dad called me. I immediately raced to the living room and saw my dad, carrying a cage, a cat is inside it. The cat's fur is white with a mix of color brown, its eyes are circled with black. Then, I recognized it's a ragdoll cat, three months old I guess.

"So a ragdoll?" I, amazed, asked. Dad scrutinized me and raised his brows, then I already know what does that mean. "She will definitely love it."

He nodded and perched his eyeglasses on his nose bridge. "Tell her I said hello. I just leave it here, Chan. I'll go ahead. I would visit you next time. Goodbye, son."

"I'll tell her. Take care, Dad. Thank you for visiting."

"It's no big deal." He answered. I walked him out the door and towards his car. He hopped on and waved goodbye. When his car faded away from sight, I hopped on my car and drive towards our college house.

Ken's POV

Our doorbell rang in the middle of our goodbyes--my parents are going to the company. "Who would that be? It's still early." I mumbled and motioned to the door but my dad stopped me.

"It might be Chandler, hadn't you said to him that you started working? Go hide." He said and gestured to Mom to stay put.

"What are you still there for?" Mom mouthed to me. Then, I came back to my senses and headed upstairs to my room. I turned off the light and opened the window instead. I took a look at the gate and they're right, it's Chan. He's carrying a box and a cage, inside it was a cat--a cute one. But why is he here? He must call first, I'm getting a cardiac arrest because of nervousness. I am hiding because I have told him that I will work starting today for I don't want him near me again. Hindi ba siya titigil?

Okay, I am being ridiculous. Of course, he won't stop. Sabi niya sa sulat, babawi siya.

Hindi siya susuko pero kailangan may gawin ako para sumuko na siya. He doesn't deserve me. He deserves so much better than me.
