Over the next few weeks, it felt like the world was rushing past my wide open eyes in a hazy blur. Like everyone was in fast-forward mode and only I was stuck in slow-mo.
Some days, I cried myself to sleep and dreamt of him. Other days, I just felt numb and lifeless, like I'd ceased to exist inside of life itself, and I was just a passerby looking in from the outside.
Graduation came and went like any other normal day. I'd decided I was not going to bother and put myself through the pain of going to prom alone—it was later that night. Going to graduation alone had hurt enough. It didn't help that I was valedictorian and half the student body hated my guts.
