*Flashback to 4 years ago*
Screams.
That's all that Winnie heard.
Pushing it off as a children playing games, she went back to sleep.
Her dreams were empty, as usually, but the feeling of calm that took over her body when she would lie in bed was not something she was willing to give up.
Getting annoyed with the screaming, she pushed her pillow over her ears, hoping to drown out the sound, and slowly, she managed to doze off to sleep.
"WINNIE MAN WAKE THE FUCK UP WHAT THE HELL"
Winnie screamed at the insanely loud intrusion, throwing the first thing she could find towards the sound.
She heard a "thump", followed by an "ow…wtf Winnie…", then then sound of nothing, and that scared the hell out of her.
Then she felt the water hit her.
"Fucking hell Glen get out of here" she groaned, trying to look around her for something else to throw at him.
"Sorry, I can't do that"
"And why the fuck not?"
"Cause a massive wall landed here."
She looked up at his annoying ugly face, looked him straight in his eyes, turned around, and tried to go back to sleep.
"Come on Win I'm being serious, I will fucking carry you if you're too damn lazy to do that"
"Glen, do you actually expect me to believe your bullshit?"
"Yes."
"Fuck you."
Slowly she got up and Glen, rather harshly, threw some clothes at her face.
Taking her time, she pulled on her sweatpants and a "Mother knows best" t-shirt she stole from Glen. She looked at him, raising her arms and he grudgingly turned around while she jumped on his back.
"Take me to this wall Glennieeee"
"Don't call me that"
"Or what, Glennie"
And with that, he dropped her and continued on his way towards the end of the town line.
"Fucking Glennie…." she mumbled as she jogged up to him.
They walked in silence as they looked around their town. Have you ever watched To Kill A Mockingbird? Well that was their town, or what all the tourists called it, and from the tourist nickname, was born Maycomb Village. There were trees perfectly placed in front of each house, each with the same height and color. Walking into Maycomb Village you could probably think that this town was absolutely perfect, with neighbors who grew up together, and weekly community meetings, but it was far from that. The people of the town knew about every little secret, like how James got butt implants trying to get Ricky to fall in love with him again, or how Mister Lewis, the 80 year old milk man, was actually a pimp and would try to get your aunt to join his "family". And then there was Abria, the nicest girl you ever would have met, who was found mysteriously murdered over 3 years ago.
As much as there was drama, everyone still managed to get along.
As Winnie thought to herself about how it would have been Abria's 12 birthday this week, Glen pulled her hair and pointed towards the literal wall placed near a pile of bricks that had been used last summer to build Ms. Taylor's dog house.
"Glen."
"Yeah."
"That's an actually FUCKING WALL MAN."
"THAT'S WHAT I TOLD YOU!"
"YEAH BUT THIS IS AN ACTUAL WALL."
"You fucking retard Winnie I told you that this morning."
"Yeah but I don't listen to you."
He pulled her closer to him as everyone gathered around. Climbing on his shoulder, she tried getting a better look at the massive wall. As she peered over the heads, she realized that it wasn't a wall, it was a massive cube, over 300 meters in length, width, and height. She noticed hundreds, even thousands, of small clocks placed on each side.
"Winnie what do you see, there's too many people in front from me to properly see it myself." Glen patted her leg hoping for a description of the massive box.
Before she could answer, the cube buzzed, a low pitched buzz that if the ground hadn't shook you might just have excused it as people talking.
Everyone went silent and stared, waiting for what would happen. Then there was the beep, the countdown, whatever you want to call it. It started slow, like how the theme song from Jaws started slow, then started beeping quicker. Everyone was looking around, wondering what the beeping could possibly mean, and then Winnie dropped to the floor.
