Harry's P.O.V
"Now," Bryce grinned at me from across the round table, "Where do we start?"
We sat in a windowless room, colder then any other they've put me in. The tip of my nose felt wet and my skin was frozen. I tried hard not to shiver, despising the fact that Bryce was wearing a sweater and me, only a half-sleeves shirt.
I narrowed my eyes, "I don't know. You tell me."
He smiled, "That is, if you allow me to."
I scoffed, leaning back on the chair, trying to show him that I wasn't scared of him. "You ask that after you knock out a kid and drag me in a clishe looking room with two chairs, a table and a creaking light bulb hanging above our heads? Are you trying to act dramatic, because let me hand it to you, You're doing a very good job at it."
"So is that a yes or a no?" He ignored everything i just said.
"Whatever."
He sighed, "I'm sorry I have to be the first one to tell you but you need to know."
"No, I don't need to!" I snapped. "I told you I don't want to know!"
"But I'd like myself to tell you it whether you like to or not." I could swear that he smirked at this.
"You're crazy." I shook my head, "you need help."
"Didn't you think the same about my brother?" He looked amused. "I guess we are the 'crazy' twins."
"I'd prefer to be with that crazy then you." I hissed.
"To bad you don't have an option."
I sighed, my knuckles turning white with my tight grip on the chair, "Just get on with it."
His eyes sparkled , "It's fascinating how you don't care about your past. Your truth."
"Yes, I don't care." I snarled, "All I care about is that why am I here in the first place? Why do you want me and what's the purpose of all of this?"
He leaned back at his chair, his brown eyes never leaving mine, "Did you ever wonder where your father used to go every single day?"
I scowled, "What kind of random question is that?"
"Answer me. Did you ever wonder?"
I shrugged, "He went to his laboratory every day, if that's what you mean."
"I must say Robert was good at hiding his secrets." He smiled.
"What the hell does that mean?" I snapped, "What do you mean by secrets?"
"You really don't know?" He looked so happy when he said that, "You really don't know anything?"
I didn't reply, my stare drifted away to the dark room. I realized I was shivering with the cold. Or was it anxiety?
"I don't want to know anything." I replied quietly. Did I want to know? Of course not. Because I already knew where he used to go. He used to go to his lab. Do experiment thingies. I mean, sure he never really told me what exactly that was but I trusted him. And that's enough. End of discussion.
"I really like this car." My ears perked up when I heard this from Saige. I look at him hold that toy in his hands. He placed it gently on the table, and pushed it towards me. I still didn't say anything. But my face was starting to feel hot. He shouldn't be touching something my dad gave to me. He didn't deserve it.
"Do you wonder why I brought that little kid?" He asked.
I didn't reply. Again. Because I was getting something. I was understanding something. Where did my father go every single day? Why did he never let me go out? Why was I home-schooled? Why did he never take holidays?
"Your father used to go to his house Harry." He finally said. And I didn't do anything. I didn't reacted like he wanted me to. Because... it made sense. It did. That kid. He owned my car. But only because he owned my dad. He was his son. Robbie. Robert. And me? What am I?
My body's trembling with the cold and I don't do anything. Because everything has changed.
"You were his..." Bryce kept talking even when I didn't wanted him to, "He found you. Skale searched for you. And when he did, he did not regret it."
I looked up at him, "what does that mean?"
He rolled his eyes, unaware about the tears welled up in my eyes because of the dark, "Well, isn't it obvious? Skale searched and searched until he found the cure to the virus. He was a dedicated scientist."
He paused, expecting me to say something and I did, "Did-Did he find the cure?"
"He did find that cure. And hid it away from dirty hands, that bastard," I flinched when he swore at him. A man who was my father but not my father. "Well, I did find where he hid it after years and years of thinking and planning. But now, there's a problem. The key. We didn't have it."
I just took it all in, my mind was rushing at other things though. I'm... Who am I? Harry? Then, Why am I doubting that? Why was I lied to? Where's the truth? This all can be made up.
I feel a tight grip on my shoulder and I realized that Bryce was standing behind me, "Look at the world Harry," I could feel his snarl, "It's chaos. What it needs is a leader. Two, even. People who'll rule a world no one cares about. But when the find out that we have the cure, Harry, my boy, no one will take our thrones from us. Think about it!"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Slowly I was coming back to my senses. Because this idiot is well... an idiot. How can I believe all this? I think it's this room. It's making me delirious.
Bryce ignored me, "Just think of what the leader and the Key could do together."
"The Key?" That word was familiar in a memory but I couldn't recall, "What key?"
He stared at me, grinning, "You. You're the key. You will lead us to the cure. It'll be perrrfect! Everyone will think me the hero! An you'll be by my side. I see your potential. If you use it with me think about all the things-"
"I'm the key?" I yelled, "What the heck is that supposed to mean?"
He blinked, getting out of his childish fantasies, "Don't you understand? Robert Skale got you because no one in this world knew you were his 'son'. But what we did know was that your fingerprint. That's the code. You're immune and the vault only opens with an immune's fingerprint! It'll open the vault and there! Our beginning of rule!"
I stood up from the chair, my head spinning, literally. I tried to stable myself with the table.
"You're talking shit." I muttered, "You're lying."
"Not at all." He frowned.
"Just wait till my friends come here. You just wait." I gritted my teeth, my head throbbing.
He scoffed, "So you want to play it hard? Fine, let's see if you'll enjoy this - i'm already guessing by the look on your face that you know - room with some special gasses floating in it. You can't survive here without the medicines. which I had before coming here and you didn't."
I fell on the floor, curling up in a ball in the dark , cold room. My stomach had nothing but acid in it which I had a feeling i'd throw up. How long since I had eaten? Never mind that though. I could only imagine how pale I must be looking. I closed my eyes tight, whispering,
"What kind of gas is this?"
"Oh, nothing of that old sorts. This is a future with a virus, Harry. Many things were discovered in attempt to make the cure. You'd be surprise to hear that these were meant to be fails but I still like there use."
He stepped closer, I kept breathing in the dense contaminated air, heavily.
"I'll be on my way. You don't have much time to think though." I hate him.
he walked outside and I tried to crawl toward that air. Breathable air.
He laughed, "Don't be impatient! You'll get your air when I get your answer. Fair deal."
"Don't... do.. this." I gasped, hoarse.
He didn't reply. It felt like he was mocking me. That's when the door went shut and I blacked out at the same time.
