Chapter 21 - The Command

William stumbled into the lift, leaning against the wall with his good arm. He turned and pressed the button to go up, the doors slowly closing as the lift began to shoot upwards. Not much was on his mind currently, he had lost a lot of blood with that stunt to move that damned sword. He was running on fumes, and the bacta, while it helped with the pain, it was not helping keep him awake. He struggled to keep his eyes open as the lift came to a stop and opened.

Before him were two tactical droids, both staring at the lift. One shrugged, walking back to its position next to the commander's chair. The other droid tilted its head towards William, a gesture of greeting. "Hello, Commander. I am to presume Drekar has fallen?" William stumbled forward, grabbing onto the droid, who caught him. The droid straightened him up. "I see. In that case, this whole facility is under your command now." The droid began leading William to the chair, the injured captain struggling to move. Once he was set down, he released a sigh, his head rolling lazily to look to the droid that helped him.

"Thank you droid." Was all William said. He painfully lifted his hand to his helmet and tried to take it off, but could not. The droid that helped him continued to do so, gently removing his hand and taking the helmet off itself. "Thank you again. Connect to that helmet and please contact the ship ID The Emperor's Conviction. That is my ship." William said. The droid nodded, connecting a finger to a port on the helmet. Its eyes began flashing as new data entered its processor.

"The ship has been sent a signal. I will order the cannon to withhold its fire." The droid said. It then looked up and past William and to the other tactical droid. The droid shook its head and looked to William.

"Your soldiers are safe now. All battle units have been set to passive." The droid said, turning away from William.

"Nice work." William's voice sounded like life was coming back to it, and he pushed himself up to sit properly in the chair. "Do you two have names, or numbers, actually?"

The helpful droid nodded, speaking first. "Designation TS-15." The droid then looked towards its counter part.

"TS-14." The droid simply said, not looking to the two.

"Good to know." William grunted, looking forward as the droids typed away at their consoles. William then turned to look up to TS-15. "So, would you be able to tell me why you shot down that Imperial ship?"

"Well, Commander Drekar reactivated us from our emergency shutdown and asked if this cannon was operational. We answered that it was, and he commanded us to shoot down that vessel under the pretense that it was a hostile. We complied, and then began reawakening our battle units to harass the survivors."

"Actually, he had always ordered that we keep them from wiping each other out by constantly harassing the vessel crash site. He had said the captain was a bit of a pain." TS-14 commented, getting William and TS-15 to look at it. William shook his head, resting it against his forehead.

"There was one name he did say though. One that he claimed would surely come." TS-15 said, getting William to look back at the droid.

"Was it William Jaeger?" William asked.

"No, Draxacon."

----------------------------

Draxacon and Andriana walked onto the bridge, Andriana's cheeks streaked red due to her crying. She cleared her throat and recomposed herself, looking at one of the officers. "You said we received the signal?" She clasped her hands behind her back, standing tall.

The officer she was addressing nodded, turning away from their terminal to face her. "Yes, ma'am, and we're now getting a connection for communication. Should be available in the War Room." Andriana nodded, walking into a separate room followed by Draxacon. Andriana saw the blinking button on the holo-table that would connect with the captain. She held back tears thinking about William, the man she thought she loved.

Draxacon closed the door behind him and stood at attention, waiting for the holographic portrayal of William to pop up. Andriana shook her head and stood at attention as well, pressing the button on the table and watched as the blue hologram came to life and took William's shape.

"Andriana, Draxacon, the cannon is under my command now. Go ahead and contact that furry and tell him we have some salvage we can use for the ship." William's voice was not its usual determined tone. This man she was listening to was beaten, or so she believed. This tone that made William's voice made her uneasy.

"Sir, is everything alright? Are you injured?" Andriana inquired, focusing on William's face, and although the hologram was not doing William any favors, he looked terrible.

William's figure looked as if it tried to shrug, revealing that his left arm was missing; cut off from the elbow. Andriana gasped, and Draxacon lost his professional stance and focused on William. "Nah, I'm fine, given I just fought off two AT-ST and a literal army of droids and just killed a mandalorian." William went limp, his face showing how exhausted he was. He then looked directly at Draxacon. "Also, when you two get here, you and I are going to have a long chat, 'Old Friend'." William glared at the Stormtrooper officer, emphasizing the last two words before he appeared to pass out.

"Captain Jaeger? Captain Jaeger?!" Andriana leaned on the table, looking at the still form of William. Suddenly, the form of William shrunk and was replaced with a Tactical droid.

"Apologies, but the commander has just passed out. We will make sure to stabilize him before you arrive." The droid's monotone voice explained before the hologram went dead, leaving the two in the dark room. Andriana was stuck staring at where the hologram was, struggling to breath. What the hell just happened.

Draxacon was shocked as well, but not because of the droids or William passing out. But that Drekar was dead. Every time Drekar talked about meeting William, he always made it seem that he would live past freeing William of his enslavement. What had happened?

Andriana looked back to Draxacon, her eyes tearing up once more. Draxacon shrugged, unsure of how to approach this problem. "I believe you should go to your quarters, ma'am. I'll handle contacting Kha Vulpus and getting to Mygeeto." He placed a hand on her shoulder. She nodded before storming out of the room and out of the bridge. Draxacon sighed, inputting commands into the holo-table. "I suppose this is the beginning of the end."Draxacon said to himself as he contacted Kha Vulpus.
