Chapter 23 - The Hunter

The Eleventh Sister sat in her TIE Interceptor silently, studying the star charts. Lord Vader had sent her to execute William for stealing the Centurion plans and retrieve the plans for Vader. She did not intend to fail him. She recalled what happened to the Second Sister when she wavered in her duty. She focused on a particular section of space, near the border of Imperial space and neutral territory that the Empire had not yet taken complete control of. There were a few planets that she found interesting: one being Mygeeto. It had an Imperial outpost stationed there, but if the reports were to be believed, they stopped checking in. Perhaps if she headed there now, she could see what had happened to the base. She turned off the map and took control of the ship, turning around and returning to the Star Destroyer Vader had given her to complete this mission. She flew into the hangar and quickly jumped out of the ship, landing expertly on her feet and breaking into a walk, heading to the bridge.

She walked through the threshold and was met by the captain, who bowed to her. She did not acknowledge this, instead walking past him and to the viewport. "Plot a course to Mygeeto." She coldly commander. The captain bowed once more, walking off to distribute different commands to the officers on the bridge. She smiled under her helmet. In the position of power, just as she liked it. She watched as the stars became streaks of blue and merged into a pool of swirling light as they entered hyperspace. She let her eyes be filled with the lights as she contemplated why Captain Jaeger would do such a thing. Personal gain; was he trying to make himself stronger to try and overthrow the Empire? Impossible, no one is powerful enough to accomplish even a fraction of that. Then what? Was he planning on using the Centurion to take over the Outer Rim? For what purpose would he want those back water planets to command over rather than serve the Empire loyally as he has for the past few years? None of that mattered now, her mission was to eliminate William Jaeger for stealing plans that rightfully belonged to the Empire.

The Destroyer dropped out of hyperspace and the planet Mygeeto came into view. the planet itself looked more like a ball to her from the distance the ship had dropped. She studied the space near Mygeeto's orbit sensing that there were no life forms orbiting the planet. This struck her as odd, because there should have been at least one Star Destroyer in orbit. She turned to the captain who gave her his full attention. "Keep the Star Destroyer at this distance; we have no clue as to what happened to the Imperials here. While you're at it, scan the area for any recent hyperspace jumps. there should be some residue left behind of anyone that has been here recently." The captain nodded and the Eleventh Sister walked out of the bridge, heading to the hangar once more.

On the way, she walked towards two troopers wearing black armor with red visors. "Come along." She simply said as she walked by them, the two troopers complying and matching her pace almost instantly. They both wore a grey pauldron over their right shoulder and had a kama around their waist. Both firmly held a DC-15A blaster and had an electrostaff hanging from their back. These were Purge Troopers, and while they were normally used to help the Inquisitors hunt and kill Jedi, these were going to help the Eleventh Sister by wiping out those Red Death Troopers.

The three entered the hangar, the two troopers moving to their own TIE Interceptors while the Inquisitor returned to her TIE. She hopped in and began preparations, lifting off the hangar floor and speeding out of the ship, her two troopers following her. The three TIEs formed a triangular formation as they approached the planet. The Sister's comms buzzed to life as one of the Purge Troopers contacted her.

"Ma'am, I've been trying to hail any nearby Imperial vessels or outposts and no one has answered yet." Her concern grew more and more. Imperials would not simply ignore the hail of other Imperials. Something was off.

"Enter the atmosphere. Let's land at one of the outposts and see what is going on." She began angling her TIE to better enter Mygeeto. The two Purge Troopers following her form. The three entered the planet and flew through the fog, searching for any of the floating cities where the Imperial soldiers should be stationed. They continued to fly through the fog until the fog began to clear, and the three TIEs entered a large empty patch, where the surface was visible. The cities that once floated in the sky now laid on the surface destroyed. The surface itself was scarred, crystal shredded and blasted by something. The Eleventh Sister spotted something that looked like a base; trenches snaking out from a central point where there were makeshift tents. She pointed it out to the two troopers and the three slowly approached the base. Their TIEs landed, kicking up crystal dust as the wings touched the surface. The Eleventh Sister used the force to jump out of her TIE and landed next to one of the tents, her pitch black cloak settling on her back as she stood up.

She could sense the people that were here, and especially those that had died here. She slowly walked though the abandoned camp, reaching a tent where the force was the strongest. She stopped at the entrance, seeing turned over tables and spent medical equipment. She could sense the Imperials that had died here, their remnant life force still lingering on the tables where they passed. She concentrated on the most recent remnant she could sense and toted that it was three cycles old. Three planetary rotations had passed since the last life form as been here. She walked out of the tent and approached one of the trench entrances. She passed through the small makeshift mound and into the trench, seeing the battlefield ahead.

She gasped when she saw the form of a B2 Battle droid laying over the trench line, slipping into the trench itself. She was shocked to say the least. The two Purge Troopers came to her side when she gasped only to stop when they saw the disabled droid. "A Separatist droid? What in the name of the Emperor is that thing doing here?" One of the troopers said, the grip on his blaster tightening. The other trooper moved forward, looking over the droid and onto the battlefield proper.

"Wait till you see this." He said, causing the Inquisitor and the Trooper to rush forward and see the horde of broken battle droids. It was enough to have been considered a threat to the Empire, which sent a shiver down the Eleventh Sister's spine. She had fought during the Clone Wars, she hated these things. "Makes you wonder if that war is truly over." The trooper said, stepping down and back into the trench. The Eleventh Sister and the other trooper followed, all three startled that they had see an old enemy.

"Sister, over there!" The first Purge Trooper said, running past the group and towards a body. A red trooper that was missing half of their chest. One of William's Red Death. The Inquisitor moved to the trooper and knelt, studying the corpse. She lifted a hand and began removing the helmet, revealing the person's defeated face. She ignored the body and instantly moved her hand to the cybernetics attached to the back of their head. She ripped it off of the corpse and began walking back to her TIE. The two troopers followed, heading to their own holstering their blasters and climbing in.

Coming here only raised more questions and it frustrated the Inquisitor. Why were there Separatist droids here, what happened to the Imperials that were stationed here, why did William come here in the first place, and what happened to everyone. She jumped back into her TIE, landing onto her seat. She took off and began heading off planet, the other two TIEs following close behind. She looked at the cybernetics, knowing it would contain more details on where William had been. She would find this man, one way or another.
