Chapter 12 - The Shipyard

William stood at the viewport of the bridge, watching as the blurring stars streaked past his vision, staring into the bright light The Emperor's Conviction seemed to be approaching. He gazed into that bright light, contemplating on what he had discovered.

When was the Empire going to develop these "Centurion" class Star Destroyers? These Destroyers would be able to decimate the Rebel scum, the Hutt clans and any other villainy that plagued the galaxy, these vessels, in the wrong hands could even destroy fleets of the Empire. One ship alone. Sure, it would come out of the conflict severely damaged and possibly beyond repair, but the fleet of Star Destroyers it would face would become a new scrap yard. With a ship this powerful, how did the schematics even end up in the hands of rebels. He could chalk it up to those friends in high places, but these schematics would have to have been from the fortress on Scariff.

This was something William will have to investigate later. Now, he was going to try and build this vessel.

Behind him, he could hear the boot falls of Draxacon, the bulky man standing behind William and to his right slightly. He stood firmly and saluted. "Captain, the storm troopers are prepped and ready to go. Orders?" He lowered his hand and focused his attention directly on William. Draxacon could hear William hum as he tried to plan out a strategy. He turned around and began walking to the large circular holo table, where Andriana was standing, watching as the two men approached. She tapped some commands and an image of the shipyard appeared.

The structure that was the shipyard was peculiar. It was embedded into the side of a cliff, with five different levels. On the holographic image, there were shapes that looked like Munificent-class star frigates, referred to as Banking Clan frigates during the Clone Wars, were grounded on the platforms, about two or three on each. William pointed to the highest platform, where there was a large tower.

"Once we handle getting past their defenses, either through negotiations or destroying them, Your men will land on the utmost platform and deal with any resistance, make sure that if they have hostile droids, they're dealt with. Once a landing zone is secured, I will enter with the Red Death and we'll hunt for the overseers of this shipyard. If the stories are true, they will let us in without much trouble." He waves his finger around the highest point of the tower, indicating it to be a command center of sorts.

Draxacon rubs his chin, nodding. He seems to be working out a battle strategy in his mind on the most efficient way to take the platform. "Understood, sir, consider it secured." He looked to the Captain and saluted. He began to walk away, but William stopped him, his hand grabbing his shoulder. The beast turned around and faced his friend.

"Good luck." was all William said before releasing him. Draxacon said nothing, but offered a confident grin, then walked away. William turned to face Andriana, who watched him as he moved. "Are the TIEs prepped?"

She nodded, tapping the commands on the table and bringing a map of the planet and its surrounding void. Just outside of the planet's orbit, five Banking Clan frigates waited. She then tapped something, and the shape of The Emperor's Conviction appeared on the map. "If they do not agree to negotiate, we will begin the attack by firing the starboard heavy turbo lasers, aiming for two of the vessels at the end of the blockade. As they begin firing, the TIE fighters and TIE bombers will deploy and take out the remaining three frigates, the TIE fighters destroying any fighters they deploy or defense turrets, while the bombers will destroy their ships." She explained what the holo table was portraying. "Of course, that is if they do not let us down there. If they do," She presses a button and the hologram disappears, "I would have planned this out for nothing."

William grins, shaking his head. "Andriana, If we don't use it here, I'm certain we'll be able to pull that strategy on a different foe." This comment seemed to bring a small smile to the woman's face, and she nodded in response. William looks forward, feeling a slight jolt as the vessel dropped out of hyperspace, the planet, and blockade, in view. "Hail their lead ship." William said, looking at an officer below him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The first landing platform on the shipyard was lively. After the war, the Separatists that commanded the outpost, one General Kha Vulpus, turned the shipyard into a town of its own, independent from the Empire. The first landing platform was large enough to hold a small city, most of the already crafted frigates moved to the lower platforms. There is a wall that protects the citizens of this shanty town from accidentally falling off the platform and from anyone that decides to attack from the landing zone.

The ex-general looked over his town from the tower, watching as two young citizens walked past two battle droids. With his keen canine eyes, he notices one of the droids limping slightly. He growls, moving to a console. He presses a button aggressively, and a timid voice comes up. "Y-yes, general?"

"KV-0626 IS MALFUNCTIONING. RECALL THAT PATROL AND FIX IT." The general orders, his voice coming out as if he were yelling, but to those that had worked with him since before this town was formed, they knew it was because he was just loud.

"Y-yes, sir! Right away, sir!" The voice replies, then Vulpus releases the button he was pressing. Almost as fast as he let that go, he saw a light flashing, indicating that someone was trying to contact him. He presses the button once more.

"General, there is an Imperial Star Destroyer requesting permission to land in order to converse with you." The captain of the blockade informs him. His image flickered on the ancient monitor.

"AN IMPERIAL??? WE'RE SEPARATISTS THOUGH. THERE ORDERS SHOULD BE TO ELIMINATE US ON SIGHT. I'M JUST SURPRISED THEY HAVEN'T ATTACKED SOONER." He looks away from the monitor, contemplating. "IF THIS IMP WANTS TO TALK, LET THEM THROUGH." The image of the captain nodded, then vanished. The General looked away from the console and back over his town, looking towards the landing zone. There were a few trader vessels moving cargo either into their hold or out towards the bazar. Battle droids patrol the landing zone in order to keep the order.

Suddenly, the general looks into the sky, seeing multiple Imperial shuttles lowering. Smugglers, traders and civilians alike disperse, battle droids looking to the impending shuttles. The general growls, beginning to walk to the lift to "Introduce" himself to these Imps.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The battle droid squads watched as the Imperial shuttles landed, remaining still momentarily. One droid walked up to where the ramp would lower, clearing its non-existent throat.

"Eh, Greetings to the Shipyard, Imperials. We welcome you with- '' The droid was cut off as the ramp lowered on the droid's head, and crushed the battle droid. Once the ramp lowered, the army of Stormtroopers marched out, causing the droids to back away slowly. The troopers began to take control of the landing zone, with one extremely large and bulky trooper stomping off one of the shuttles. The large man looks to the remaining droids that are staring at the large trooper with their simple circular optical sensors.

"Droids! Where is your leader?" One raised its thin hand before a roar was audible, causing everyone to look in the direction of the noise. They saw a being leaping towards the landing zone, and the large trooper watched as the droid that was about to answer him got crushed by the being, a wolf-like creature almost the same height as him. The final remaining droid of this patrol pointed to the wolf man.

"That's him right there." It calmly stated before walking out of claw range. The wolf man looked into the eyes of the trooper, then looked around to the other troopers, who were taking aim at him.

"TROOPER! WHY ARE YOU TAKING CONTROL OF MY PORT!?!?!?! I WAS EXPECTING A PATHETIC AND SLIMY IMPERIAL OFFICER, NOT AN ARMY OF BUCKET HEADS!!!" The beast shouted, spit flying out of his gaping maw and spatting the troopers helmet with each hard syllable. The trooper wiped his visor free of slime and cleared his throat.

"I am Sergeant Major Draxacon, and I am here to secure the landing zone for this 'pathetic and slimy' Imperial you were expecting. Being a mostly neutral sector, you'd understand that we are concerned with pirates and thieves and such." The trooper replied, looking at the beast in his glowing yellow eyes. After a moment of glaring at one another, another shuttle began approaching, the trooper looking to it. "That's him right there." The wolf man looked as well, watching as another Imperial shuttle took up space on his landing zone. The ramp lowered, and what Kha saw made him calm down slightly. Eight red Death Troopers marched down the ramp, then stood to the side as one larger Death Trooper walked down, approaching the Wolf man. The two looked to one another, the red lights within the eyes of the trooper glowing against Kha's fur.

"General Kha Vulpus, former general of the Confederation of Independent Systems, now ruler of the port 'Shipyard'. How creative." the red trooper spoke, Kha barring his sharp teeth at him.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW, IMP?" The general growled, trying to intimidate the Death Trooper.

"I am Captain William Jaeger, captain of the Emperor's Conviction, and I have a favor to ask of you." The trooper removed his helmet and looked Kha in his eyes.

The general scoffed, getting closer to William's now exposed head. "A FAVOR?!?! AND WHAT EXACTLY DO I RECEIVE IN RETURN???"

"How about the promise that I do not report this illegal port to the Empire." William gave the general a cocky grin, and Kha growled.

"I COULD SIMPLY JUST KILL YOU, AND ORDER MY FLEET TO ANNIHILATE YOUR SHIPS..." He pauses, then turns around. "YOUR TROOPS STAY HERE. YOU AND THE BRUTISH TROOPER COME WITH ME." Kha begins to walk to the tower. William looked to Draxacon, and the two followed close behind the Separatist general.
