Chapter 1 - Prologe

"Have I ever told you where we came from"

My old mentor took a big dramatic slip of tea as if it would be his last.

Yes, yes you have.

"you see we are not from this world."

I tried not to sight, this wasn't the first time he told this story to me far from it.

He was showing increasingly strong sings of dementia, but interesting enough he would only forger the more recent memory.

But that was also where my interest ended, and I could not wait for him to finish so we could resume our study of the strange energy leaping through the bubble we called mana.

But trying to explain that would only make it last longer.

"We, well me and the other teachers of you came from a planet called earth."

He pointed at the other nine chairs sitting at the round table at the heart of the station.

They were empty.

"Because we found an interesting phenomena we call the void, we were able to use it to open up a portal to another world."

"and we were able build machines helping us cross over with all this stuff here,"

He made a wide swinging gesture pointing at the research centre around us.

",but somehow something went wrong and the portal collapsed."

as if having lost all energy he collapsed back into his chair.

Yes indeed, he had a strong tendency to be overly dramatic.

"And that is where you come in, a native child which somehow also ended up in the accused bubble.

So we deicide to teach you everything we knew so you could pass on the torch of civilisation to this world and build a better place for humanity."

An awkward silence descended into the room, what should I say I already knew everything.

"I did expect a more dramatic response."

It was finally my time to speak.

"can we please go on and study, I have so much to learn and it is soon time for the bubble to collaps, we can finnaly be free!"

In response he looked at me if I was a fool, the same look he gave me when I first started learning about the laws of the world, science. Only now, his once strong frame had been reduced to the dying husk of a man.

And instead of that once happy and confidence radiance was now sadness, and relief?

I waited for him to continue but what greeted me was only silence.
