Chapter 17 - Chapter 17- Prologue Chapters- The Phoenix Princess

Inita's Story

"For our entire lives, our sole duty is for us to protect the one members of the main branch, one day, you'll take on the mantle and stand by his side," The man said to the young girl that sat on his lap, he ran his hands through the delicate red silky hair of hers.

"But papa," The young turned to the man. She had green ember eyes that sparkled, you could see the smears of the makeup she had attempted a few hours ago. "Roman doesn't need any protection, he's strong enough, he told me himself."

The man smiled. "Of course he did, he's just trying to be tough. But this has been our tradition as long as we have lived, the head of the phoenix household will protect the head of the dragon household,"

The girl nodded and asked, "Is that why you're always with aunty? To protect her?"

The man nodded, "Yes," You could see his joy and pride in his eyes. "Strive to get stronger as you can, perhaps you can change our fate and way of life,"

A Few Years Later

"Papa? Where are you?" The girl ran towards the house burning with blue flames. "Papa? Papa" She screamed out. The rain poured on the blazing fire, but the flames were unfazed by it, it roared and roared.

"Papa!!" She screamed. "Answer me, please!!! PAPA!!"

She had reached the entrance to the house, her body told her to leave, but she wanted to save his father. She kicked the door down. The flames got hotter and hotter. The flames were just pure blue. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

She ran through room by room by room.

"Papa? Answer me," She cried out once more.

Once again, there was no answer.

She knocked down the last door of the first floor, and he froze.

His cousin she had looked up to all her life crumbled up and cried, screaming and shouting at himself. Making the flames more intense. He held something with his hands which he tried to hide.

"Roman?" She said delicately.

There was also a man in the room. The blue flames weren't near it, as if it was afraid of him. He was about 2 meters tall, with braided silver hair and a tied down the beard.

"Pathetic," He said. "This is your rage?" He screamed out to Roman.

Inita wanted to talk, to defend Roman, to protect him, but the presence of the man was too intimidating for her.

"This shows I'm right," A woman's voice came from the corner. She had olive skin that soothed around her and braided hairs that fell on her shoulders. "He's too weak, not fit to be king,"

"We'll have to take more away from him then," The man said.

The braided woman hesitated. "Of course, my lord,"

The Firelord? Inita realized.

He turned around and walked past her, completely ignoring her existence.

"hmmph," He scuffed.

Inita then realized the trail of blood his footsteps had left behind. There were a man and a woman lying down.

"Aunty?" She screamed as she realized who it was. The flames blazed, the heat was unbearable. Tears dripped from her eyes.

"No, no, no" She saw the man lying next to her. "Papa," Her voice cracked. "Please, no, no,"

She felt her eyes lock, her body was stiff.

"Barest," She mumbled without realizing. A sword appeared in her hands. A sword representing a warrior.

"Poor Inita, such innocence...gone," The girl in the corner said.

"Serenity? What happened? Did you do this?"

"Watch your tone young lady, I'm your superior," Serenity said.

"I..dodon't...care," She charged at her.

Purple flames surrounded her.

"Don't do something that'll make me regret later," She sighed. "And no, I didn't kill him, or her. He committed suicide when he saw her dead, he thought he had failed himself as a man," Serenity shook her head.

"I tried to talk him down, but he wouldn't listen," She said.

"And I'm supposed to believe that?" Inita screamed.

Serenity made the purple flames disappear.

"I truly am sorry for your loss,"

"You watched as he slid mother's throat, she might've not been your actual mother, but she was so kind to you," Roman screamed at Serenity. "I might be weak, but I'm no puppet of his,"

That was the lowest Inita had ever seen Roman, her heart ached, from seeing the person she looked up to and strived to protect, look so weak.

"I'll get stronger no matter what, and the day will come when I slice his throat, and yours," Romans's eyes screeched in pain and vengeance.

A Few Weeks Later.

"Let us go Inita," The two children looked at the city they once called home.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Inita asked.

"Don't start getting cold feet now, and you said you had family members in Liberty city right? I'm sure they'll help us,"

"Will they keep us hidden though?"

"Liberty City is the land of the free. I don't think they'll even bother to look for us, for now at least,"

"If you think it's the best choice for us,"

"Drop the family and superiority stuff would you? I don't like it."

"Sorry, Roman,"

"I protect you, you protect me alright?"

Inita nodded.

"We protect each other." Inita smiled. "And when we run into a lander bigger than us?"

"We run of course," Roman laughed.

They wore their hood and embarked on their trip to the land of the free.
