Lonnie's P.O.V.
*******
-------Next morning-------
After meeting the author from my book yesterday, made me feel better. Kyaahh! He was way cuter in person, after all! Kate was checking our job, scanning every corner of it.
"It says we had to retrieve an item here." She said, and looked up, only to see the dungeon's terrifying entrance, which did not bother her at all.
"An item, huh?" Blake says. "Lame."
"C'mon guys, this is way better t-than saving some m-mon..." I stuttered.
They looked at me, and turned to the
dungeon.
"Let's go."
The Glaceon took a deep breath and walked inside first, and we let her, because she was the leader and she was supposed to inspect first for the team's safety.
"All clear." She says, swishing her pretty diamond-shaped tail. I padded along with Blake, like I was going to see the scariest thing in the world.
Arceus help me! Kate remained cautious, and remained her calm and brave posture.
While I was frantically whipping my head to the sides back and forth, nervousness feasted upon from me. Keep it together Lonnie....
"Um... G-Guys?" I asked as I pointed to a cluster of rocks. I gasped as I realized it wasn't a cluster of rocks. They were Geodude!
Katherine's P.O.V.
*******
Lonnie gasped as the cluster of rocks began to move. They were actually Geodude, and the group approached us. Blake growled. Fire-type attacks were weak at this point.
For some reason, his tail flared into a bluish white color, and he charged at the Geodude with a Power-up Punch! It forced some of them backwards, but they went on and used Bulldoze, knocking Blake off his feet. He grunted in frustration.
"Are you okay?" I asked. I knew it was not a good idea to approach a Charmeleon in an aggressive state, but I made it. He nodded, and all at once I fired an Ice Shard at the Geodude. I turned to Lonnie; she was using Leaf Blade and slashed one, knocking it out cold.
"Nice one, Lonnie!" I called. She grinned in pride. As I was distracted by her, one of the Geodude tackled me, and with a forceful effort, I was pinned to the ground. He laughed and said, "Nice one Miss. You look pretty. I must have you as my mate!"
He stared at me with lustful eyes. Arceus, I never thought that this stupid rocky mass is actually a pervert! Immediately, I rolled to my side and lashed out with a kick, and as I set myself free, I leapt upwards and struck him on the gut. He fainted instantly.
Blake was exchanging blows with two Geodude. Lonnie was having a hard time fending off five of them, but she went on and used Magical Leaf, almost knocking out all of them.
"Blake! Lonnie!" I called. "Get behind me- NOW!"
As the two Pokemon darted towards me, I readied my stance and released a blue ball to the top of the dungeon floor. It exploded into angry black clouds and a flurry of snowflakes came roaring down from it.
The whole group of Geodude gasped as they started to experience the worst blizzard they've ever seen.
"Kate! You could've warned us!" Lonnie hissed. "You know I hate the cold! Ack!"
"Sorry Lonnie!" I apologized. "Just try to endure it for a moment, okay?!"
"A moment?! This could last for a minute!"
Blake couldn't help but laugh at Lonnie's crabby complaints. I shut my eyes tight and waited for the blizzard to cease down.
After a minute, I opened my eyes, realizing the blizzard finally
came to a stop. I gave a sigh of relief and took a step forward. The dungeon floor was covered in ice, and the whole group of Geodude was defeated, leaving tiny shards of ice from the blizzard.
Good thing I was able to keep myself from slipping on the ice, but Lonnie and Blake had a hard time keeping their balance.
"Kate... We might have a little problem..."
"Y-Yeah..." Lonnie agreed. I sighed and decided to help.
"In order to cross..." I told them, almost lecturing. "You had to skate through the ice."
"Skate?"
"Yeah. You just push yourself forward, like this."
Saying those words, I jumped and slid through the ice. Lonnie's jaw hung open.
"Wow, I never thought you could do that on ice." She said.
"You never slid on ice before?" I asked.
"No."
"Then come on!" I said, pulling her to the slippery mass. She was a little hesitant and scared at first, but after a few seconds her expression became calmer. I smiled; she was enjoying it.
"Hey Blake!" She called. "Come join us!"
"Okay?" He asked. We skated through the ice, laughing our way. Until I felt the ground crumble beneath me....
"KYYAAAAAHH!!!"
"KATE!"
I frantically clawed the ground trying to slow my fall.
"GUYS!"
I braced myself for the impact and rolled to the ground.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" I yelped out in pain. I staggered to my paws and helped myself up. My whole body ached and the world was spinning in circles. I felt dizzy and aswoon. I stumbled among the rocky terrain, walking like someone just beaten me with a club.
"Argh, why do I have to fall like that day I met him?" I asked myself. I scanned my surroundings. Looks like I'm deep down underground, I thought.
Snap!
I whipped my head to my side in surprize. How come a twig came this far?
"Who are you?" I asked. "Show yourself!"
No reply. Instead, a Thunderbolt ripped across the dungeon, and I leapt out of the way just in time to dodge it. Someone's attacking, huh? Time to fight back!
Immediately I shot an Ice Beam at the shadows, wondering what I shot at. The attacker didn't hesitate to respond with Thunder, which means the mystery Pokemon is an Electric type.
The tip of my tail got singed; I failed to dodge the remaining electricity. I flipped in with an Iron Tail, which eventually got blocked with someone's Iron Tail. I did a backflip and shot Ice Shards at the opponent.
It grunted with pain and tackled me. We rolled into the ground and I kicked it on its stomach.
"Ow!" A male voice whined. He limped away from me, grunting in pain. His pelt crackled with electricity, making it easier to see what he is.
He was a Jolteon, with a blue scarf and intense, purple eyes. He was wearing a saddlebag, and he was looking at his paw, rather confused. He stared at me for a few seconds.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Something you might know."
"Do you want me to kick you again?"
"Please, let us not resort to violence."
"But you attacked first!"
"That was earlier."
I stomped my paw angrily at the ground. This Jolteon is starting to piss me off!
"All right, sorry!" He said, raising both of his paws in surrender, but I could tell he was trying hard not to smile. I raised a questioning eyebrow.
"I said, I'm sorry! I thought you were someone!"
"And why should I trust you?" I asked, dramatically.
"Well, I-"
"There you are!" Another voice interrupted. The Pokémon shot a Dark Pulse at us.
"They're after me!" The Jolteon yelped.
"What do you mean by 'they'?!"
"Them!"
Sure enough, a pack of Mightyena appeared from a corner, completely
surrounding us.
"Guys, for Dark-er... Arceus' sake, can't we just let this slide?" The Jolteon says, laughing nervously.
"Let it slide?! Ha! After what you did?!" A Mightyena laughed.
"Ah, so I'm surprized that you brought along your girlfriend!" Another one said.
Girlfriend?! Arceus! I'm so glad that it was a bit darker in here! You know I'm red as a berry now!
"Correction: I'm not his or anybody's girlfriend." I said, rather defensively.
"Ohhh, looks like little miss here is trying to be brave,eh?"
"You stole our dinner, looks like we had to eat you instead!" The Mightyena who looked like the leader says.
The Jolteon just chuckled nervously.
"Dinner? What did you do?!" I asked, demanding for an answer.
"Well, I say... they were about to eat a poor Torchic." He said. "So, I kinda... saved-"
He was cut off when a Shadow Ball rammed to his side.
"Jolteon!" I shouted. Whoa, whoa! Why are you showing concern to this guy?! You just met him! Once more a Mightyena pounced on me, triggering me out of my thoughts.
I dived out of the way and hunched my back, tensing my muscles. I charged at a Mightyena with a Giga Impact, knocking him off his paws. We rammed against the wall and knocked him out cold! A Thunderbolt zoomed from my side, hitting one who was about to attack me.
"Nice timing!" I called.
The Jolteon smiled and used a Wild Charge attack. He smashed himself against a Mightyena, grunting in pain as recoil occured, weakening him a bit.
"Damn recoil." He muttered.
I went on and used an Ice Beam, freezing another one into solid ice.
I grinned and crashed an Iron Tail to a Mightyena's head.
"Aaah!" I yelped out in surprize as sharp fangs dug into my flank. Blood spread down, causing me to flinch. I winced when the pain intensed as every second passed. I've been poisoned, AGAIN!
The Mightyena pinned me with great strength until I was unable to move. My struggling tired me out, and as I did, I could see the Mightyena's malignant grin. It was a female.
"Looks like I'm having ice fox for dinner tonight." She smirked. I struggled to get off, but she wouldn't let me. I gasped. Anytime, she could slit my throat in a second, making things look more difficult than it looked. She raised a sharp claw to finish me off, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the pain.
"LET HER GO!!!" Jolteon shouted and a full powered Thunder roared from above, zapping the Mightyena with amazing strength, causing her to faint. I pulled away from her.
"T-Thank you..." I said.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Y-Yes."
"No, you're not okay. " He said, examining my side. "You're bleeding." That's when I almost forgot my poisoning. My legs felt weak. Blood was dripping from my side. If I won't get something for it soon, I was done for.
"You're bleeding too." I said.
"Oh, this?" He asked, raising his blood-coated paw. "This won't matter. You're poisoned."
He opened his saddlebag and pulled out a Pecha Berry from it.
"Catch." He said. I caught the berry with one paw and stared at it, confused.
"What am I going to do with this?"
"Eat it."
"But this is yours."
"Then I'm going to give it to you."
I sighed and bit into the berry. I let out a sigh of relief as it started clearing my poisoned status. I watched as he took leaves out of his saddlebag and wrapped them around his paw. After that, he took another batch of leaves from his bag.
"Here, let me help you."
Saying this, he squeezed some berry juice on my wound and wrapped the leaves on my flank like a bandage.
"O-Ow..."
"Sorry. Don't worry, I'll take it slower this time."
After some time, my wound felt better, almost like a miracle. That Jolteon, he was generous for a stranger, and the way he looked at me...
Wait, what?! What the heck am I thinking?! He's a Pokemon!
"So tell me..." He said, finishing his job.
"Why are you here?"
"W-Well, so I was here with my teammates for our mission, and... I fell
into a hole and I found myself in this floor." I said. He nodded, showing sympathy.
"You're a rescuer?"
"Yes."
"That's cool." He said. "Anyway, I'm Philip."
Philip? Why does that name sound familiar?
"I'm Katherine, but you can call me Kate for short. Less girly." I told him.
"That sounds.... cute."
Immediately, my cheeks turned bright pink. Wait, what the hell?! You just met this guy!
"Um...I-I..."
"I'll walk you to your teammates. Can you still walk?"
"I-I think so..."
I gathered my strength and padded along with Philip, who was transporting electricity on his pelt to brighten up the darkness. We slowly walked through the corridor, analyzing every corner.
"Hey, be careful." He told me. "We don't want to cross paths with another Pokémon again."
"And why is that important?"
"You're wounded."
"Don't care. I can still fight."
"You're stubborn, are you?"
"You'll know that once you'll get to know me." I said. We laughed.
"Knowing you? Why don't we start?"
"Start with what?"
"You know, like your favorite color and whatnot."
"My favorite is blue and purple." I told him.
"Mine too."
"I see. That came from the color of your scarf and your eyes, right?"
"Yeah... Is it really that obvious?"
"Of course, it is."
"Uh... So then, what's your favorite berry?"
"Oran."
"Heh, mine too."
We talked for another few minutes and realized we had a lot in common. Maybe being stuck here with him isn't so bad at all...
"Philip?"
"Yes?"
"It's my turn, how did you get here in the first place?"
Surprize etched on his face as I asked the following question.
"A-about that..." He stuttered.
"Eh?"
"Exploring dungeons... is just my thing."
"Oh. I see." I said. "Your skill is ideal for an explorer."
"But, I guess I had to admit I did a pretty good job rescuing the Torchic, so I'll guess I had to take Rescuing, I'll guess."
"Then perhaps you should head to the Rescue Team Guild."
"But they said you need to be on a team to enter, right?"
"You can enter on a friend's team."
"Hmm... I'll think about that..." He said.
"I know! Can I enter... on yours?"
"W-What?! Oh no... Eh... m-maybe..." I stuttered. Arceus! Oh, how I wanted to slap myself for that!
"Your leader is kinda strict so its difficult to enter on yours?" He asked.
"O- Of course not! Its just um... that mon... is me..."
Katherine's P.O.V.
*****
"Whoa! That mon is you? How come you didn't tell me?"
"Thought you'll figure it all out by yourself."
"Eh, I didn't," He said, rather blunt to my ears. Funny.
"You're not dense right?" I asked him.
"Nope. Do you think I am?" He replied and pouted. A childish gesture, but due to his annoyance, it didn't bother him at all.
"No, but you do look dense when you pout like a child throwing tantrums."
Philip laughed and smiled boyishly.
"Clever. No wonder they put you as the leader."
I strode through the area, wondering how many floors we've been through.
I blinked when a ray of light shone on my eyes. Hey.... this must be... the last floor!
"The item!" I remembered. I grinned; we're close to finishing this. I ran excitedly to the light, ignoring Philip who was calling out my name.
"Kate!"
A blur of yellow zipped from my side and blocked my path. I took a step back, startled by the sudden move.
"Let's just go there in a slow and steady pace. What if some random Pokemon are waiting there and attack us?"
I sighed; he was right. Even worse, those Pokemon could be Norsoe's servants, and I'm not taking any chances.
"Yeah..." I surrendered. "Maybe you're right."
"Good girl." He teased. I took the opportunity to elbow him.
"Ow."
"Don't talk to me like that."
Philip just laughed at my words. He was.... fast. Well, it's totally expected for a Jolteon, for their speed stats are
immensely high.
But not fast enough to dodge my elbow...
I thought.
"Let's get this over with."
"All right. I'll follow your lead... Philly." I teased. Philip rolled his eyes.
"Okay, Kate-ey cake...."
"What did you call me?"
"Kate-ey cake. What's wrong with that?"
Now it's my turn to roll my eyes. Philip chuckled at my annoyance. We took a peep from behind some boulders, scanning the area to see if there are some Pokémon around.
"All clear."
I wonder what kind of item they lost in here...
"You seem so sure about your conclusion," I began. "But Pokémon in here normally attack us."
Then we heard a noise.
