Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Life’s Wonders

The grass tickles my ears. The breeze rests upon my face. I slowly blink as the petals drop down flat on my face as I smell the fresh grass.

As much as I love being out here doing nothing, I have duties. Seems like my break is over as I see figures in the distance.

I wave my hand in the air, and flower petals crowd my face. I cough as one cherry blossom gets stuck in my throat. I might've exaggerated on the hand movement I guess..

I see some local pixies dragging my shirt or at least trying to pick me up. I finally decided to get up, why does duties have to be so boring?

I spread my wings, and glide to my hut. I see some elves dusting my shelves and desks.

"Oh guys, you don't need to do this for me, I'm pretty sure I can do this all by myself", I say.

"No, you've helped us so much, we should at least help you to.", one of the elves say.

The elves had sharp pointy ears, unlike humankind. Their hair would sparkle like glitter in the night; it is said that the first elves were relatives of the moon as that's where the glowing hair comes from.

While the pixies and fairies had small angelic ears, and tiniest of button noses. They have one of the softest and sensitive skin any mythical creature has had. I once got to touch a pixie's skin, and my hand just got carried away and stroked them like a few times, when I said I'd only do it once haha. Fairies and Pixies hair glows in the daylight as it is said that their ancestry has been connected the sun for millenniums.

I spot a winged fish, flying right across my head. What's it doing in my house? I thought they would've cleaned EVERYTHING up for me. Oh well, now let's take this buddy back to his natural habitat.

I put on my warm and softest leaf boots I own. Fit just like a slipper. I decided to walk to the habitat, other than using my wings. It's nice to take a walk sometimes and enjoy the scenery. You may never know if you miss something spectacular in this forest.

The twigs snap as I hop on each one. I saw a school of winged fish fly into the waterfalls.

Only some creatures know this but, behind the waterfalls is a hidden part of the forest for endangered species and have all kinds of habitats.

I fly into the waterfall and push through the willow trees in my way. I finally reach the ever-garden, a garden filled with the juiciest of fruits and even fruits that humans can't obtain.

I gave the fish a small kiss and let it fly off with his friends. I wave at him a goodbye before I take my leave. Now, duties.

Before I leave the waterfalls, I flap my wings leaving my stay in the air and take one last smell of the water.

The water had smelt as if cotton candy and exotic fruit were mixed together, the water was also so clean; a perfect habitat for the sea creatures.

I fly straight down to the bottom of the waterfall and put my index finger in the water. The current is so calm, one touch of the water and you're easily filled with peace and richness. A richness not as in wealth, but a richness as in happiness, is how I like describing it.

Suddenly, I feel something bite my finger. Ouch, it must be one of the sirens playing tricks with me.

"Come play with us big brother!", one of the small boy sirens say.

"Guys, I'm a bit busy right now.", I respond sincerely.

"It seems to me like you were having your fun, don't your duties start in 2 minutes?", a girl a with a starfish on her head says.

"Y-yes, you're right.", I say quickly before I dash further into the forest.

My wings threw me into the ruthless pine trees. The leaves had scratched me up a bit and left me a bit of a cruel mess. I fix my chocolate brown hair, by smoothing it out with my hands.

I finally reach the middle of the forest, the core of the forest. There was a massive willow tree; full of fruit and sweets. If you had ever seen this tree in your life, they say you would've been blessed. Only a few people get to see this tree, due to some reasons and rules to keep everyone and everything safe.

This tree keeps every plant and nature here alive, without this tree. My home would've been a dead wasteland. One of my duties is taking care of the tree. Of course, with the long time I've been working on my jobs and adventures, I've decided to give the tree a name, to show my gratitude.

"Mr Stupid Fart! Wake up! The council is already here!", I shout at the old tree.

"Child, I already told you for the one hundred and seventy fifth time, not to call me that, It's more respectful and polite to call people by their real names. Call me Mr Oak.", the Tree booms at me.

"Oh come on Oaklin, I'm just messing with you.", I say in a childish manor.

I pick a flower from the ground and put it in my long flowing hair.

I decide that it's better barefoot so I kick off my leaf boots which land directly and the still water table. The guests get extreme angry looks directed at me. So my first instinct is to..

"Hehe.. sorry about! Just had some fun, you guys are so old that you've forgotten what real fun is! Not this stupid meetings and councils.", I say laughing midway.

It wasn't the best thing to do anyways. Now I've gotten more glaring looks at me.

"Mr Zephyr, we're expecting that you've check on the dragons, mermaids, sirens, library and the endangered parlour?", a male centaur in rectangular glasses had asked me.

"Um, nearly everything sir..", I say in embarrassment, my face hot red.

"Then what are you doing, also could you please check the gate for me, I heard we're getting a delivery from a nearby kingdom.", a lady with scarlet scaled skin says.

"Sure thing!", I fly off, collecting my boots on the way."

I slowly land onto the thin grass, carefully so I don't get scratched but the pebbles and rocks. My bare feet dance on the wet pebbles as I walk to the library. It's nicer to walk on the path than skip this amazing feeling.

I'm finally at the door, and carefully try to open it. However there are vines and leaves blocking me from being able to open the door. Hmm, what should I do in this situation. Right, get the leaves and vines out with a thin twig. I feel with my right foot a small fallen branch, and reach to get it. I swipe all the leaves and vines away and the door is finally opened loose.

I carefully touch the handle, and pull the door to reveal the massive library. This library has books that even the humans can't get their hands on.

The library smelt like book pages, is that weird? And I smelt that someone had sprayed some lavender spray around here. I do have to say, it's a nice smell.

"Hey Mike, I'm just here to check up on the library, how's it going?", I say. Mike is the keeper of the library, he's a half serpent. Half of his body is covered in green scales, the other half looked like a human's. The left side of his body which was where his scales were, had a scarlet red eye of a snakes's. Even though, the guy might look scary, he's just a normal being with a normal life around here and one of my friends!

"Hey Aylo! We just got a new stash of horror books, would you like to read some?", Mike calmly asks.

"No thank you, I'm not much of a fan of horror, more into fantasy types.", I say.

"Oh yeah, should've known that", He says in embarrassment.

"Hey mike it's ok, everyone forgets stuff", I comfort him.

"Right, yeah.", he hands me a notebook.

"Wait no, I haven't finished my current one yet.", I quickly reply.

"Yeah but you like finish one notebook each month, how come this month you're so slow?", Mike asks.

"This month I've been thinking of going easier", I say, with imagery of the cherry blossoms sitting on my face.

"Well sorry Mike, but I have to go check on the dragons now, I'll see you next time, maybe tomorrow as I'm finishing up on the Mirio saga", I say giving a salute as I'm heading out.

"Sure thing, I'll get the next books ready for you!", he says.

My wings spread and I take flight. My hair dances in the breeze, and as I tilt down I pick a small honey flower.

Flowers that make honey and even give the awesome smell of honey, and it even keeps our bees safe!

I see a badger stuck inside a hole, I reach out and help the little guy out and continue on my way. I take 270 degrees turn up into the clouds and jump on the fluffy clouds. My leaf boots help me not fall through the clouds anyway.

As I see a huge golden gate before me, I pick another honey flower and add it into my hair next to the other flower.

"My name is Aeolus Zephyr, one of the council and here to check up on the dragons, may I pass?", I hold out a leaf card with a badge of the council.

The gate automatically opens and lets me in and I skip in cheerfully.

I see some Harpies at the gate welcoming me. Some of them are grooming the dragon's scales and the others are giving the dragons a wash.

I see playful weed sea dragons having fun in the pool, however making everyone wet in the process. Luckily my clothes dry easily and fast.

I walk over the small palace of Iris and Ra, it's amazing how we have all kinds of mythology living in this forest. I skip along the poofy clouds. I get a bit curious and taste the clouds. The blue clouds taste like blueberry muffins and the pink ones taste like strawberry macaroons! Yum!

I finally arrive at the palace, bigger than I thought.. I open the doors and step inside, I'm blinded by the rainbow sparkling chandeliers.

"Hey Iris! Hey Ra!", I greet them as I dash to the back of the palace; where the phoenixes are kept.

I even named some. One called Flamey, one called Firey and another called fire snot.

Let's keep this a secret between us, I feed the griffins! They're just so cute! Sadly, there's only two that's saved, the other ones went extinct and it's up to me to take care of the two endangered creatures!

I named the girl, Star and the boy, Myth. I'm not the best at names, I'll admit that.

I feed the griffins and head out to the balcony. Balcony of fresh mint. I licked some of the mint and it was so minty and fresh..

Anyways, I need to get back on track. Next destination, the gate!

As I approach closer, the silhouettes of about five thousand people form at the outside of the wall. I watch in horror as I see what's truly happening.

I hear a ruthless king shouting with his men.

"OPEN THE GATE!", everyone shouts.

The gate was being attacked by the ruler and his army. Why would they want to attack this kingdom of tranquility.

I put on my mask that one of the elves got me for my one hundred and fifth birthday. This is a mask which the elves use to mask themselves and make illusions for the other person's eyes.

I jump on the top of the gate,"You must leave this gate before you feel the consequences". My voice was deeper and masked aswell as my face.

As I thought, they had fled. Too many kingdoms have been trying to get pat our gate for months now. I can remember when they were just small villages but now they're empires. Guess this is a new era, an era of the kings.

I find a peculiar moving mossy bush. We don't have mossy bushes that move, only the cloud bushes move. Hmm. I run over to check it out. I skip the edge of the wall and jump on the bush, and I hear a loud groan from beneath me.

"Hello?..", I ask in fear. No human had ever gotten past the magic forest. There's a magical barrier that only lets in magical and mythical creatures.. why would the barrier choose to let a human in anyway?

As he groans, he gets up from the bush of course me stepping aside first. "Uh.. the name is... Lillian! Call me Lillian", the guy mysteriously says.

"Ok Lillian", I give him a wink,"you must come to my hut quickly before anyone other than me sees you, come on!".

I pull him by his coat and fly with dragging him behind me. His face was in awe until I finally reached my hut.

"That's your hut? It's very smaller than I thought It'd be.", Lillian says.

"The smaller the home, the more comfy it is.", I say.

I settle down and glide down the stone path. I push open the door and pull Lillian inside.

"Ok humanling, you stay here, I'll be right back, and do not go anywhere.", I say as I leave in a hurry.

I dash through the trees and finally meet with the gate," Why would you let that poor human in? It's not safe for neither our people or the human, he might bring more humans to save him or something!", I shout at the gate.

"Oh heavens no, I doubt that, plus it's nice to have a human over here, the last one we had was over a millennium ago.", the gate laughs at me.

"This isn't a funny matter, I'm worried about our people and the human's sake.", I say with distraught.

"I am the gate of prophecies and legends, do not question my choices kid, I'm even much older than you, respect your elders!", the gate booms at me," and when the time comes, you'll know why I let this human in."

I groan in worry and return to my home and seeing that the human was cooking me food?

"Hey hey stop, why are you cooking me food?", I ask in confusion.

"It's the least I can do, you saved me from being lost, to be fair the gate was the one who pushed me in this forest to begin with.", they say.

"Oh uh sure.", I say scratching my head in confusion.

"Woah! Are those the spaceship saga books? I couldn't find the last book of the saga in my kingdom and that's saying something.", he goes over to touch it but I stop him.

"Don't touch my stuff humanling, you might affect it with your horrible curse.", I say slapping his hand away.

"Curse?", they question.

"Yes the curse which was set to take away humanities' powers. I don't need you infecting my stuff.", I say with bitterness. It might come across as mean but humans are the worst living beings on the planet, they're the ones who killed my parents after all. It'd be hard to not hold a grudge. Also, if any of the creatures in the forest see him, who knows what they'll do?! I mean humans did destroy their families and old homes, luckily they're now safe here in the enchanted forest.

I don't like the human but I'm not cruel, I'm going to find a way to get him out of the barrier, whoever the gate likes it or not. But first, fun!
