It's face was on the hilt of the blade, it gave him a wink before it turned into a regular sword just pink in color. River looked at it, examining it as he had not seen such a thing before. He would eventually pick himself up as he would rush towards the fray, a line of guards trying to push back the VoidBorn.
The fighting was a complete mess as the VoidBorn just kept coming nonstop like a swarm of locust. Just as River got close to the frontlines one managed to break through the line of guards. Its immediately surged towards River as he was the first one it saw. It was basically a living blob of blackish-brown sludge that could move about.
It roared out and charged River crashing through anything that got in the way, River barely was able to dodge out of the way. It reached out to grab River as it passed by with a large goopy arrm which also missed. It crashed into the wall with a loud plop bits of it splashing all over the room. As it did it showed a crystalline core that was pitch black. Although the core was only open for a few moments before it retracted the goop to itself reforming its body.
It launched a thick arm made of goop which would spread out into smaller arms to grab ahold of River. He quickly moved to dodge but more arms would just sprout out from its main arm towards him. In desperation he swung his new blade at the arms even if they were not yet in striking range.
Despite the fact that he was far out of striking range the extended arms were cut as they splashed apart. The creature paused in confusion at what just happened as did River as he glanced at his new sword. It would form a proud face, as if showing off while giving River a smile before it went back to being a normal sword.
River just smiled at it and resumed what he was doing as he slashed more at the goop who was still confused at what was hitting it. Although the strikes did not seem to do much as the goop would just heal back from the damage. The goop took a bit before it realised that it was river attacking it as it roared once more and fired a lob of goop at him. All it took was a slash with his new blade to cut the projectile in half.
The blade would form a face again before making an arrow to the creature which then morphed into an orb. As that happened a red orb could be seen as the creature lets out a roar flinging goop across the place. River followed the entities advice and went for the red orb swinging his sword towards it.
