The next day…
Finn, Dirk John, and Marus met up at Town square.
"So I see you did your part John."
"Yeah, Marcus was about to leave his house and chill at a friends house, but I got to him first."
"Yeah right John, you stood at the door waiting for me."
"Hah, good one John. Now that we are all here, let's go."
The group drove to the start of the trail. It was a short drive and got there with no problem. That was the odd part.
"Why is there few people here?"
"Who cares Dirk. We can check out those trees now!"
"That's true Finn but that is still odd."
"Whatever John. Let's go!"
As they parked and got out, there were two signs.
""Be aware of Bears""
and one crappy sign
""Research in progress. Do Not Disturb""
As the group read the signs, they question themself if they should continue.
"Finn, you did bring the bear spray right?"
"Yeah, don't worry about it Dirk."
"That doesn't matter Finn and Dirk. Scientists are still doing research here."
"So what Marcus. We just go and leave. Simple."
"No, that's not how it works Finn. The simplest contact to those trees could cause a change and if that change is big then scientists wouldn't know what causes it, when it was a girl who wanted to touch them."
"You're to worry. Let's go!"
As Finn goes ahead, and the rest follows.
"I still don't think we should do this.... Fine, wait for me."
As they start their hike, the group can see that everything is normal. Before seeing the tall trees in the distance. Finn, excited for this, ran to the trees first. Dirk and Marcus had it rough as they were the slowest in the group.
Finn leaves her bag with the group which was resting on a rock near the entrance of the trees, and goes to the trees. She walks in.
"Amazing these trees are huge! Come on guys come and see this!"
"We'll come just wait. Dirk and Marcus
got to rest for a while first. Just don't go too far in by yourself."
"Yeah, I got it John."
As Finn goes deeper into the woods, couple of minutes pass.
"Oh no. I walked farther in than I thought I had. I should head back."
When she turns around, the wind passes her and ends quickly.
"Woah, that was weird. This happened before at the church."
Finn looks around to find anything weird and finds nothing. Thinking it was nothing, sees movement at the corner of her. She stops and see what it could be. A big black figure appears behind a bush.
It was a bear.
p.s Dirk was faster than Marcus.
