Chapter 14 - Worthless

A year later...

Dahlia has finally adjusted to life living with Hei Bohai. Although she was just lying in bed the whole year along with physical therapy, she was still quite agitated.

"Hei Bohai! I can't stand it anymore! All I do is sit in bed and walk around, I need to do something, anything to keep me busy!" Dahlia did not want to pause her revenge plan just to sit around in bed all day.

"Well, I think I can cure that. How about we go out?" Hei Bohai suggested. He felt terrible for keeping her locked up in her house, although it felt nice to know where she was at all times, Dahlia was not happy at all.

"Not with you." Dahlia responded, "I want to go by myself. I just want to see how the world is today."

"No, it's dangerous out there and you know that Dahlia." Hei Bohai did not just agree to her idea. Dahlia has already suffered long enough, especially when she was in her 'dead' state of mind before.

"Fine then. I'll find multiple ways to escape whether you like it or not, so either let me go alone, or have me escape without knowing where I am. Choose one!" Dahlia sighed and turned away from Hei Bohai, being trapped and bedridden for a year was terrible enough.

"Why are you so stubborn?" Hei Bohai looked at her lonely back and took a deep breath, "It isn't good enough to stay with me?"

"No. Not really, all you've done is prevent me from running away from you, and making me eat more." Dahlia bluntly responded.

"What do you do if your sisters find you, Dahlia."

Hei Bohai tried to plant some doubt in Dahlia, he cared too much to let her go anywhere without him even for a little while.

"I.." Dahlia did try to come up with some sort of plan, but then she figured that she had no recent information on them. She couldn't do anything, at this point, Dahlia felt worthless and useless.

"I need to use the restroom, I'll be back." Dahlia rushed to the bathroom and slammed the door.

Once Dahlia shut the door, she softly cried. She had just realized that over the whole year she was conscious, she had actually done nothing but lay around in bed all day.

Through her soft tears she whispered while shaking violently, "Brother, I've failed you. I haven't even visited you with your favorite snacks as I promised. I am just so weak and powerless. I have no mental strength, nor the power to even stand up for myself. I... have been a coward. I have been hiding all this time. Brother, how am I supposed to avenge you? All the scars you've had, all the pain you held deep within your bones. After all the tears you've kept out of my sight, and all the joyful smiles with sad expressions you've hidden. All the warm hugs that you could barely give to me because you were always so tired. Brother could I have died instead?" Dahlia trembled and held on to the toilet. She saw nothing, she was blind, she could never see the bright colors of glory that the world held ever again.

'I deserve this.' She thought, 'I always have.'

The tears that Dahlia shed fell into the toilet causing small ripples in the water, the violent ripples that reflected Dahlia's heart.

Suddenly, Dahlia sensed a figure with an axe outside the bathroom door.

"BOOM!" The door shuddered and gave in to the axe.

"BOOM!" Holes were made in the door.

"BOOM!" The whole was large enough for a hand to fit in and unlock the door from inside.

The door creaked open. And there standing and sweating, was Hei Bohai.

Dahlia understood who was in front of the bathroom and turned around to bury her face in the towel she grabbed nearby.
