Chapter 3 - Chapter II : The Party

I looked at my watch and it said 18h27. We were at the red light and I heard my cell phone ring in the glove compartment and answered it.

— Hey, shall we enjoy it and run over there? — Hector asks as a challenge.

— Can your Plymouth Barracuda hold up? — I played.

— This is a classic — he says.

— Corinthians and Sao Paulo too — I reply. — Let's run, friend. — hang up the phone and save it.

I make my engine sing, that classic old car sound. I also hear Hector's engine, and that makes me ecstatic.

— Come on, buddy, — I whisper and look at him from his car. It makes a positive sign.

The red light turns green and we start running.

Hector took the lead on the straight, but I was soon leaning against his rear. We were approaching the curve, and when we made it my car overtook his, and this time, Hector who saw the back of my car. We were paired, side by side.

We stopped when we reached the light. I opened the passenger side window.

— That was incredible! — I exclaimed.

— Your car is much more powerful than mine, — said Hector, but he didn't seem to be shaken. - Have you touched it yet?

— No, not once, — I said, and started walking again after the light went green.

— Listen — he calls. — Don't you want to run some more? Only moderate now.

— Right — I confirm. — Since it's still far away.

I closed the glass again and he did the same.

We arrived at the boardwalk and made sure it wasn't too busy. Few people passed by. They looked at my and Hector's cars in awe.

— Where are they? — I got out of the car and leaned against the hood.

"They'll be around shortly," Hector says.

He leans against the hood of his car, watching the people passing by across the street. We look in the direction of an approaching engine roar.

— Looks like he's here,— said Hector, looking at Kleber's Maserati.

— Where did he get this Maserati 150S? — I question.

— Let's ask him,— he says and approaches Kleber's car, which is parked just in front of mine.

— Hey, guys! — he greets us.

— Where did you get that car? — I asked him, noticing the brightness of that body.

— My father gave it to me, you know? — he says and we confirm with the head.

— This car is very beautiful, in moral! Admired Hector, checking the wheels, the headlights, the body. — Did you put an airfoil? When?

— Ah, a week ago - Kleber answers us. — So, what time will the party start? I'm dying to get drunk.

— But you will not come home? — I asked.

— And?

— If you're going home, you can't drink,— I say.

— Relax, man! — he says, patting my shoulder. — Shall we go to the party?

— Come on,— says Hector, getting into the car. — Anything they'll know where to find us... because of the sound.

We went to the beach and stopped in a place with almost no movement. That place was nice, great place for a party.

We got out of the cars and stood, leaning against the hood of the car.

— There, Alex — Kleber called to me while opening the trunk. — There's a cat that comes to the party.

— Oh really? — I ask, wondering what the smile of this beautiful girl would be like. — Interesting.

It didn't take long for more cars to appear. A Corolla 98, a 2009 Astra, a Corvette 85, an RX-7 and a Skyline 99.

— Hey guys — greeted a boy who left the Skyline. — Okay?

— Yes,— I replied, greeting him. — Who are you? Sorry for my question.

— Relax! — he says. — My name is Cauan.

— I'm Alexander.

— Nice to meet you Alexander.

— So — a girl gets off the RX-7. - Shall we start soon?

The girl was very beautiful, she was charming. She seemed to be serious, as she had not yet shown a smile. Until I met my eyes. And I quickly look away.

— Alex, remember the cat I mentioned? — I look at Kleber and the girl does the same. She glares at him. But he didn't seem to be intimidated. — This is Rebeca.

— So you're Alexander — she says staring at me.

— Y-Yes — I replied. — Nice to meet Rebeca. — I reach out to shake her hand.

— It's my pleasure,— she smiles as she returns my greeting.

— Rebeca - Kleber called her. — Who's the doll with you on your RX-7?

I look in the direction of the girl's car.

— That's my sister,— she replies, pointing to the other girl who was getting out of the vehicle. - Iara.

Two others got out of their cars. A boy of height 1.76 and another 1.79. Well, at least that's what I deduced.

— Hi, I'm Manoel — said the Astra boy.

— I'm Alexander.

— How's Alexander? — another boy greets me.

— Good and you? — I ask.

— I'm fine,— he says. — I'm João.

— So,— says Iara, closing the driver's side door. — What time does the party start?

— Let's start — Kleber takes his car key. — Now.
