Chapter 6 - Chapter V : Dream

During the night of sleep, I dreamed that I ran on several tracks and that I won from some and lost to others. There were several locations, but one I managed to identify as Mount Haruna, located in Gunma, Japan.

I was racing my Camaro against a local guy named Yamoshi Matsuda, and his Mazda RX-4 Coupe.

I open my eyes and see Rebeca with my cell phone to her ear. My vision is still blurred, but it soon becomes normal.

— Your mom wants to talk to you — she hands me the phone.

— Hi mom... — I say still sleepy.

— Is it "hi" you say, Aleh? — She scolds.

— Blessing, mother — I say with a laugh.

— God bless, my son. — Rebeca giggles softly and I can't help but laugh. — Who is the girl with you, son?

— Ah, she's a friend I met at the party yesterday — I replied. — She's super good people. You need to know.

— Really? — asks my mother. — And when will they give me grandchildren?

Rebeca is flushed and serious. I blush too, and I sit on the bed.

— Mom... what is this ?!

— Just kidding! — She says. — But anyway. Are you coming home today?

— I don't know,— I said.

— If you are going to stay around, at your friend's house...

— I have to do with her here.

I look at Rebeca, and ask if I was allowed to stay at her house.

— Sure, no problem — she replies trying to hide the happiness that invaded her chest.

— Well, I'm going to stay here for a while,— I say and smile.

— See with her if you couldn't stay here until Tuesday — asks my mother, and I hear a light kiss in the background.

— You're leaving, aren't you? — I ask.

— Yes — my mother answers. — Your father and I want to travel a few days to São Paulo, to have a night of our own.

— Well, I'll talk to Becca here and then I'll text you. — I promise.

After hanging up the phone, I put it in my pocket and get up from the bed.

— What time is it, Becca? — I ask, stretching my arms.

— 08:30 — she replies to me.

— Well, I was ready to get up. — I grab my shirt that was lying on the floor and seen.

— You don't want to wear another shirt? — she asks.

— Do you have it here? — I asked and soon apologized when I realized that my question had sounded a little rude.

— Yes I have. I just don't know if it will fit you.

She goes to a dresser drawer that is near the door, and I hadn't noticed the existence of that piece of furniture.

She hands me a white shirt with a skull print. It was beautiful, the black skull stood out in the center.

— What do you think? — she asks me after I put the shirt on.

— Well, tell me what do you think !? — I ask. — I thought it was incredible.

Rebeca bites her lower lip and responds.

— It looks really good,— she says and smiles. — Come, I will wake up Iara.

We went to the kitchen and made coffee for the three of us, while Iara brushed her teeth.

Rebeca was so beautiful. I can't believe I didn't know you before. But if I had met her, would I be the injured boyfriend?

— Here it is — she hands me the bread already prepared with margarine.

— So, what do you want to do after breakfast? — I asked.

— Becca, I was thinking of going to the beach for a while — announces Iara.

— I think it's a good idea,— she agrees.

They sit at the table to have coffee with me and silence takes over... for a while.

— Are you leaving today, Alexander? — asks Iara.

— Well... — I didn't know how to answer. But Rebeca saved me.

— He's staying until Wednesday,— she replies and I watch her. Becca smiles and then goes back to her coffee.

My phone rings the moment I finish and answer it.

— Speak, Hector,— I say, leaving the table.

— Dude, where are you? — he looked angry. — I'm here in front of your house, waiting for you so we can go to the beach with our cars and you are not? Let's Play!

I swear. I never saw Hector angry like that. It was the first time he was like that, especially with me.

— So calm down, bro,— I ask. — Yes, we will have this tour.

— How can I be sure?

I look at the girls and ask:

— So, how about the beach?

— I told you — Rebeca replies a little harshly.

— Beach — I say.

— Where are you? He asks me — Then I go there at the door...

— I'm at a friend's house,— I say, looking out the window.

— Oh really? Sorry for interrupting. — he says, looking a little embarrassed. — But then, do you want to reschedule?

— Do not worry. — I say. — After all, Iara really wanted to go for a walk on the beach.

— Iara? — he asks. — That's the name of...

— We'll talk later — Hang up the phone and put it away again.

— If we go to the beach — Rebeca said — shouldn't you have scheduled it?

When she said that, I soon realized that I had forgotten that little detail. But I knew that Hector would call me to find out the time.

— Do not worry. — I said. — He'll call for details.

— I think you better call him,— said Iara. — So at least you save his time.

This is what I did. I called him and made an appointment with him; two o'clock in the afternoon on Copacabana beach. To confirm that he would be free, I asked if he would go elsewhere. Hector replied that he had nothing more to do.

— Today at one o'clock in the afternoon we will leave here — notice for both.

— Well, then I will choose my clothes — says Iara leaving.

— Won't you choose yours? — I asked Rebeca.

— There is no need,— she says.

We spent the morning talking about random subjects, like the time I fell off my bike when I was eight. My father was afraid to give me a car in the future, afraid that I would accidentally run him over or cause a stupid accident, like running over a cat or another animal.

Iara said that when she was studying last year, last year — 2009 — that she had inadvertently provoked a fight between two students. They struggled in the arm to see who would go out with her over the weekend. The director separated the fight and it had already leaked from there before the signal even sounded.

We talked a lot, until 11:15 am.

Rebeca, who was going to tell us a little about something that had happened in the past, decided to go and prepare lunch for us. I already knew why she didn't want to say anything, because I think — no, I was sure — that it involved her boyfriend. It would definitely make you sad.

After lunch, we get ready. Becca lent me shorts that belonged to her boyfriend and a sleeveless T-shirt. I couldn't help noticing that she couldn't take her eyes off me.

— Let's go then? — he said getting into the car. Becca accompanied me while Iara went on her sister's Mazda RX-7.

— Thank you for spending this night with me — Rebeca thanks me and then gives me a kiss.

— Come on,— I said after she ended the kiss.

Iara drove the car down the track and I followed.
