HERO
"You won't forget me, will you?" Hero said, gazing directly into Avalyn's brown eyes. Though she was being her usual nonchalant self, bearing the same stoic expression, Hero could sense the sadness that he himself was feeling radiating from her.
"Never," she said in response, not breaking eye contact.
It was the day, the day which Hero and Avalyn will have to part ways because of Marcus, Marcus Zephanie, the same Marcus Zephanie whom he had met prior to the apocalypse.
"Promise?" Hero said, his voice dropping to that of a whisper. Avalyn smiled in his direction, offering her right pinkie finger. Hero reached out and linked his own, pledging to do the same.
"Promise."
Hero slowly opened his eyes, the soft light of the morning sun teasing his vision as he stared outside the bedroom window of the room he just woke up in. It was the same bedroom that he and Avalyn would have shared if the fall out didn't happen.
