It's a cloudy day, a great day to go out and buy some stuff and hang out, don't you think? Everyone around the place seemed to be enjoying their time, smiles across their faces, they seemed happy.
Happy, That's how Evie is supposed to be feeling as they walk around Diagon Alley to buy some stuff for her and Sebastian for the coming school year, feel great and joyed but instead, Evie felt uncomfortable, uneasy under the weird looks given by the people walking by.
She wasn't really used to people giving her much attention to the point that you'd actually ask if there was something wrong with how Evie looks like. It was her necklace that was catching the attention mainly, she should've just left it at home for she wouldn't be feeling uncomfortable with the people's looks at her but then again she didn't want to break her promise with her parents or want to lose grip of it, remembering that it was the last thing her real parents had left her.
Evie frowned and heaved a sigh before hiding her necklace behind her green jumper ❛❛Hiding it wouldn't hurt❜❜ she mumbled under her breath.
Upon noticing his sister being quieter in the public than the usual, he lightly elbowed her which he succeeded in catching her attention.
❛❛Hey❜❜
Evie looked up to this brother, still following their parents from behind ❛❛Eer.. yes?❜❜ she smiled weakly.
❛❛Is something wrong?❜❜ he asked with worry as he glanced down at her ❛❛You can always tell me, jennievieve.❜❜ he reminded with a smile
Evie shrugged her head still with the weak smile ❛❛It's nothing Sebastian, really❜❜ she responded with a chuckle ❛❛I'm fine.❜❜
Sebastian raised a curious brow at her ❛❛Are you sure?❜❜ he questioned which Evie nodded her head with a small smile as a response. Sebastian continued to raise a brow at her ❛❛Like, really really sure?❜❜
Giving him a look, Evie spoke sternly ❛❛Seriously?❜❜
He flashed her sister an apologetic smile ❛❛Right, of course,❜❜ he laughed awkwardly which made Evie giggle and shake her head ❛❛So, which owl are you gonna take to Hogwarts?❜❜ asked Sebastian glancing for a moment at the shorter girl
At this moment their family is at Diagon Alley, going around the place to buy what's needed. A list of the required things for Evie was listed on another piece of paper that was sent with the acceptance letter to Evie, a day ago while Sebastian's was sent more than a week ago.
❛❛Hmm...❜❜ Evie trailed off. there's plenty of them, which one should it be? ❛❛I'd like to have one of those barn owls.❜❜ smiling brightly, she responded. Barn owls are simple yet also very cute, it's not a bad choice, isn't?
Chuckling at Evie's response, Sebastian shook his head playfully. Did he not eat breakfast again? His actions made the shorter girl raise a brow in confusion
❛❛How basic can you get, really❜❜ he laughed, stopping his tracks ❛❛Out of everything, why a barn owl? Seriously❜❜ shaking his head ( again ) playfully, he placed his hands inside the pocket of his jeans.
Evie rolled her eyes upon hearing her slightly older and taller brother's words ❛❛Said the person who took a snowy owl just because one of the golden trio of Hogwarts, better yet, of the wizarding world had one back then as a student in Hogwarts❜❜ standing right in front of him, she smirked ❛❛Am I wrong, brother?❜❜
This was Sebastian's turn to roll his eyes. She was right though, he heard a lot of the trio Evie's talking about and had envied the one and only Harry Potter, the boy who lived. Speaking of Harry Potter, Sebastian dyed his hair raven black a month ago ( which only lasted for like a week ) to look more similar to him.Due to him having some resemblance of Harry, some people mistook him as a relative of Harry Potter due to his looks
And yes, he did receive some scolding from their dear beloved mother, Amellea. It was quite fun to watch if you'd ask Evie and that one guy friend of Sebastian.
❛❛Shut up,❜❜ Sebastian pushed the girl's face away gently ❛❛I like white, snowy owls are white.❜❜ he stated, oh-so-sternly.
Chuckling, Evie placed her hand on top of his right shoulder ❛❛Whatever floats your boat, brother.❜❜ might as well not argue with him, it'll only end up the same way. Before finally turning her back to him, she faced him and continued,
❛❛Also, barn owls are one of the cutest owls and you can't argue with me about it- plus they're quite a mysterious owl❜❜ smiling, she pushed her brother and started to catch up with their parents who had surprisingly didn't notice that the two had been left behind.
They were probably busy talking about a specific topic, perhaps work?
Sighing in defeat, Sebastian yelped a ❛❛Wait up!❜❜ as he then proceeded to make his way and catch up with them.
Sure, he won't argue, it'll be just the same. he knows that either way, Evie will win the argument against him in the end, as always. He perfectly knows that.
Tomorrow apparently, is the big day for the students of Hogwarts especially those students who are yet about to start their first years in Hogwarts— also a big day for Evie, for she will be officially be transferred to Hogwarts.
Tomorrow will be her first day at Hogwarts after getting transferred from a muggle school, tomorrow will also be the day she gets sorted to one of the houses; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw— tomorrow will be the day that she'll start her witchcraft studies and such in the same year as Sebastian— she sure will be catching up with a lot of things.
Although Diagon Alley, as always, is crowded especially with the fact that classes are gonna start real soon. Kids and/or teenagers running around from place to place or better yet, shop to shop with one or more of their family or group of friends members following them from behind. How adorable.
'Wonder what could've really happened if I were to start studying at Hogwarts in my first year, like the others, like Sebastian. Would've been great' Evie thought to herself as she continued to look around her surroundings.
❛❛Sebastian honey,❜❜ their mother called out not only catching the said boy's attention but also Evie's. Sebastian responded a questioning yes to their mother who flashed them a smile ❛❛How about you go to a wand shop to find Evie a wand of her own? And if there is any change you can buy some sweets if you want❜❜ she explained, passing the small velvety coin bag ( ? ) that is obviously full and pretty much heavy.
The teenagers nodded their heads ❛❛Sure thing!❜❜
❛❛Good❜❜ their father spoke with a smile as his arms snaked around Amellea's waist ❛❛Your mom and I will be going to Gringotts Bank for a moment, we shall meet each other at Florean Fortescue's ice cream parlour in an hour❜❜ he informed.
❛❛Will do!❜❜ the two teenagers run off with smiles plastered on their faces.
Their mother, Amellea giggled at their children's actions, linking her arms with her husband's, Jonathan ❛❛I'm so glad to have you and kids❜❜ she exclaimed, eyes following Evie and Sebastian before meeting and locking with Jonathan's emerald green eyes.
Smiling, Jonathan cupped Amellea's face with a single hand then planting a kiss on her forehead not really minding that they're in a public place with plenty of children running around the place
❛❛I am too.❜❜
Amellea felt her cheeks heat up— she felt like coming back as a teenager who is practically in love, feeling butterflies on her stomach with a small action made by the person she admired a lot. She looked away, not wanting to feel more embarrassed as she hid her face, her cheeks tinted with bright red.
Jonathan giggled at his wife's reaction and ruffled her hair earning a scowl and glare from her which made him laugh; it was like old times, back when they were still young, still unsure of what they were really feeling, back when they were still students.
Jonathan intertwined their hands and flashed her a genuine smile ❛❛Let's go?❜❜
Amallea nodded her head in agreement with a smile as they then proceeded to make their way towards their desired place, the Gringotts Bank.
