Glancing at his sister who looked so amused and excited, he chuckled ❛❛You're really excited, are you?❜❜ he asked, catching her attention from watching the others try wand of their own.
❛❛Why wouldn't I be?❜❜ she said earnestly ❛❛I've been dreaming about this my whole life!❜❜
❛❛I know.❜❜ Sebastian approved, with his brows raised
Nodding her head she spoke, ❛❛Exactly— besides if I haven't seen that magical purple bus whatsoever and play with mom's wand unintentionally using magic you guys wouldn't have known I'm also incapable of witchcraft and wizardry!❜❜ remembering those, she couldn't help but laugh to herself upon also remembering how surprised they looked.
It was sort of priceless
❛❛Yes, yes❜❜ he grinned and casually tucked his hands on his pocket ❛❛Without those happening, we sure wouldn't have probably sent you to study at Hogwarts with me❜❜
Evie felt like she was dreaming with everything happening at once. She used to believe that she was only just a muggle who is not capable of magic and stuff, she used to believe that she'd only be stuck by his brother's storytelling about what he had experienced in Hogwarts, the cool enchantments, position making, the things he had just learned about the history of magic, the magical creatures, and plants. She used to just play around with chopsticks and wave it as she chants a spell, not really knowing she had powers. She didn't bother hesitating to quietly take the wand of their mother for a moment— then the next they know, light beamed from the wand when Evie yelled "Lumos maxima", a random spell she used to hear from Sebastian himself.
Normally the wands of wizards and witches would fly away from the hands' certain muggle when they had intentions of using it. Of course, they were shaken and couldn't believe what had happened in the summer that had just started; that they believed to be just as normal as it was before. At first, they change their minds of thinking that Evie was just muggle when she had seen the her father come down from the purple triple-decker bus and asked them if it was the knight bus Sebastian used to talk about that she had taken interest on; they thought she was some sort of squib or something. But after the wand incident, there was no way she was a squib for squibs are not capable of magic. Then after that, they had decided to transfer Evie to Hogwarts for her to start learning some real magic that she had long to know, she deserves to know, learn and grow with it either way.
Well scratch that, it was only Sebastian who was speculating all those stuff along with Evie, of course. The Couple felt bad for lying so much to the children but it had to be done.
Speaking of Hogwarts, Evie is sort of starting to feel herself panic with the thought of her being a transferee from a muggle school, feeling of shame slowly somehow vanish as she tried to reason herself out concerning it. She's starting feel at ease— at least maybe for now— she's panicking how is she even feeling at ease, really? Evie shrugged her head, pushing the negative thoughts away, including the thoughts of her being bullied for her history when she arrives at Hogwarts—
Not wanting to be all negative again, Evie decided to push her attention to the kids who were holding and trying out wands with amusement.
❛❛Yeah,❜❜ she sighed with a smile as she stood behind her brother in line, waiting for their turn.
After a few minutes had passed it was finally their turn ❛❛Next❜❜ exclaimed the lady behind the counter who looked quite similar to the lady that appeared in the middle of their meddling earlier but the difference was the lady behind the counter had a mole beside her left brow, unlike the other lady.
Weird as it may seem, but yes. Evie is that observant.
A smile crept on the lady's face ❛❛Ah yes, Sebastian Leighton. It's been quite sometime after I sold you a wand you can really call yours; perhaps a year ago?❜❜ she raises a curious brow.
Chuckling, Sebastian replied ❛❛it's been three years now, Madam Brooks❜❜
The lady giggled and shook her head playfully ❛❛Ah, yes, yes. Time passes by so fast. I feel so old❜❜ she joked which the two teenagers laughed at. Turning her gaze to the shorter girl she flashed her a smile ❛❛And who might you be?❜❜
Sebastian hanged his hands on his sister's shoulders ❛❛This is my sister, Jennievieve. She herself will also be needing a wand of her own❜❜ he grinned
Madam Brooks eyed Evie with a puzzled look ❛❛Strange, she doesn't seem to have such resemblance of your parents— she looks quite different from you❜❜ she spoke unknowingly making Evie feel misplaced ❛❛But I do see your mother's small lips and quite of milky skin at her,❜❜
Evie giggled and glanced at her brother who only gave her look and shrugged his shoulders.
❛❛That's quite a pretty necklace you have there, love❜❜ Madam Brooks complimented as she admired the lighting necklace that was showing up ❛❛Unique actually— that look's like a real lighting bolt❜❜ she giggled.
She wasn't even lying, the pendant is quite convincing that it is a lighting bolt when it's actually not— or is it? The necklace had small golden chains which were quite a match for Evie's skin tone.
Evie couldn't help but giggled as she held her necklace and taking a short glance at it before looking back to madam hooch ❛❛Thank you, Madam,❜❜ she smiled and continued ❛❛It's a wonderful gift given by...❜❜ she trailed off, uncertain of really telling the redhead lady behind the widen counter. Sebastian smiled at her and motioned his shoulders up ❛❛By my beloved parents.❜❜
A smile crept on the red head's face at the purity of the young girl ❛❛You better keep it safe then❜❜ she told the girl.
Evie nodded her head ❛❛Oh, I will.❜❜
Agreeing, Sebastian nodded his head ❛❛Oh, she'll be wearing that everyday alright. That I'd probably only last half a year of not having enough seeing it glow❜❜ he joked which both of the females giggled at.
❛❛That necklace is quite something❜❜ the two teenagers raised their brows, what could she be talking about? ❛❛It reminds me of that one myth people used to tell and believe — well a prophecy actually❜❜ she shrugged with a giggle
❛❛About what?❜❜ asked Sebastian who got ahead of Evie who was also gonna ask that question to the redhead lady.
The two were like cats, obviously curious and had badly wanted answers, especially Evie.
Putting her beautiful red hair in a somewhat neat ponytail, she faced the teenagers ❛❛Something about a god and a witch who had a child who will be entitled to be an olympian witch or wizard, many years after—❜❜ she stopped her tracks, giving the two weird looks ❛❛You know what? you should just wait for the professor of your history of magic to tell you the story. I'm getting too lazy❜❜
They couldn't help but laugh ( lightly ) at the redhead lady's remark. I mean, talking is quite of tiring especially if we're just spatting nonsense. Or maybe we're really just lazy.
❛❛Can I see your arms, love?❜❜ Madam Brooks requested which didn't take too long for Evie to do so ❛❛You're quite of a small person, I see❜❜ the lady gently let go of her arm and proceeded to scan the shelves behind her.
Upon hearing Madam Brooks' words, Sebastian snorted earning a glare from Evie
❛❛What? I can't deny a fact, can I?❜❜ he laughed oh-so-silently.
Evie rolled her eyes ❛❛Just because you're taller by a few inches doesn't mean you're that tall-tall, Addison is taller than you just so you know❜❜ she retorted at the tanned guy
Taking his hand out he started to measure their heights, chopping the air ❛❛Yeah, sure. Just a few inches❜❜ he snorted earning a smack on his stomach from his half irritated-laughing sister.
Amused by what she's seeing, she grinned ❛❛Now, now, Sebastian don't tease your sister that much. Being small has plenty of perks, one of them is being defined as adorable or cute❜❜ she stated.
❛❛That's rubbish!❜❜ he disagreed earning a look from Evie who stuck her tongue out. Smirking, an idea came out to his head ❛❛Well, yeah I kinda do agree with the adorable one❜❜ he proclaimed with a grin
Evie smiled triumphantly ❛❛I'm quite flattered—❜❜
Sebastian snorted ❛❛Because you're adorably small❜❜ with that, he again earned another smack from Evie on his stomach as he then continued to laugh
❛❛You're a total git, do you know that?❜❜ Evie scowled
Sebastian shrugged his shoulder at his sister and turned to Madam Brooks who was yet again, behind the counter ❛❛Where's the other Madam Brooks, anyway madam?❜❜ Sebastian asks as he turns his head from place to place trying to look for a certain lady.
❛❛Ellen is probably arranging the books that had just arrived❜❜ she answers she then placed a box on the counter containing a wand ❛❛Try this one, love❜
The shop wasn't having many customers at this moment, there are only a few people inside though most of them are at the side reading books as they have their nice cup of either coffee or tea. Although there were still a few inline who were managed by another staff of the specific wand shop.
Evie gripped at the wand that was provided to her ❛❛Interesting❜❜ she exclaimed she examined the wand on her grasp.
❛❛That's a wand made of fir wood and phoenix feather as it's core❜❜ she informed with a grin ❛❛Why don't you give it a swish?❜❜
The young girl nodded her head at the lady's statement glancing at his brother who had his full attention on her. Following Madam Brooks' instruction, Evie gave her wand a swift move.
A bright light came out from the wand Evie had in her hand which directly went to mirror behind Madam Brooks, and instead of it repealing it like how it usually is in the movies, the mirror shattered into pieces.
The siblings had their eyes widen at the mess made by the one and only Evie.
The young lady sheepishly smiled as she slowly placed the wand back ❛❛I don't think it's a match❜❜ she laughed awkwardly ❛❛S-sorry about that❜❜
❛❛It's fine, love❜❜ she smiled brightly as she turned her heels, fished her wand out and chanted ❛❛Occulos Reparo❜❜ within a few seconds the mirror that was shattered was back to its form, it looked good as new.
Four wands were then presented to Evie afterward but none was quite of a match for her. The second wand almost caused a storm inside the wand shop, the third one was too strong for her that it sent fire out from the wand, while the fourth and fifth was quite the same as the first one— totally not a match.
❛❛Try this one.❜❜ Madam Brooks suggested as she handed the sixth wand ❛❛Maybe just do a spell that would somehow be not much of a killer or something❜❜ the twins giggled.
Easiest? There's only one she could remember.
Frowning, Evie pursed her lips into a thin line ❛❛Lumos maxima!❜❜
Right when they heard her voice, the twins behind the counter ducked while Sebastian turned the other way and covered his face with his arms. They waited, but nothing much chaotic came to happen.
Bright light showed up from the tip of the wand Evie had held in her wand. The light was as bright as a flashlight that seemed to have so much power saved.
Then the redhead twins looked at each other and grinned ❛❛It's a match!❜❜ they exclaimed in glee
