Chereads / The White Grimore / Chapter 6 - Shopping

Chapter 6 - Shopping

After getting everything needed, he left the inn to find some shops. Walking threw the streets, it took him awhile, but he eventually found a shop he was looking for. Well maybe not exactly, but it should have what hes looking for. He only got basic education so he couldn't really tell what it said, but by looking in he saw all the information that he needed to know. Going into the store, he was hoping for low prices.

Sadly, they were a bit pricey, but he had enough money. One of the items that caught his eye was a hide tent. It was water and frost resistant, and looked rather warm. It was 1 gold coin and 50 silver coins. Gritting his teeth, he took one. He also got a few other camping supplies like a lamp paired with lamp oil, and some cookware. In total he spent 3 gold coins and 12 bronze coins. He only had about 14 or 16 gold coins left, but thats alright.

The next store he needed to go to was a weapons smith. He at least needed a weapon to fend for himself out in the wilderness. It wasn't that hard to find one, but finding a weapon that would fit him and the price would be the real problem. After stumbling across a blacksmith, and asking for directions to a weapon smith, he found himself in a more secluded area of the city. Looking into the display, he knew he was at the right place.

Opening the door and hearing the so familiar bell he would hear when walking into his dads shop, he looked around. The shop keeper looked up and smiled hoping to have a costumer that would actually buy something this time. "Hey there sonny, what can I getcha?" A bit disappointed, the kid didn't look rich, or like what he was doing. "Do you have anything thats decent and is in a price range of 15 gold?" Luciel asked, hopefully thinking he would have something good at that price.

The storekeeper cringed and pointed towards a few things in the back. "Those items are in yer price range, but there all just some pieces of junk. Feel free to look at em' though." Luciel sighed and went to look at the items. Most of them were old and rusted swords, bad farm equipment, and all sorts of things he couldn't define. Browsing threw the "trash", and item caught his eye.

It looked like an old farmers scythe, but taking a closer look, he realized it was a battle scythe. Upon picking it up, he almost dropped it due to how heavy it was. It was almost twice the size as him, which didn't make sense for how big it was. It was like it was made for a giant or something. The handle looked a bit rotten, black in color. The blade was a bit rusted, but a bit of cleaning it up and it should look brand new. He didn't know why, but he had a feeling buying this scythe would be a good idea.

Lugging it over towards the counter, the shopkeeper burst out laughing. "Sonny boy are ye expecting to carry that outside without a permit?!" The shopkeeper kept laughing while Luciel gave him a weird stare. "Is this too conspicuous? And what do you mean by permit?"

"Oh no, its not conspicuous, but when someone so young like you carrying one who looks like he has no experience is another story. Though you'd need a permit from the adventurers guild to carry big weapons around." Luciel thought for a moment when he was about to take the scythe of the counter, but surprisingly the shopkeeper stopped him. "I've had this hunk of junk for so long i'll give it to ya fer free. Theres a tool that can shrink this so its easier and less conspicuous to carry around."

He took out a small grey stone and showed it to him. "This baby will shrink just about any weapon to the size of a bronze coin. It can be used for unlimited times unless it gets damaged. I'll sell it to ya for 10 gold coins." Luciel gave him another look and asked how it worked to see if he was scamming him or telling him the truth. The shop keeper happily obliged and showed him how to do it. They chatted a little until another costumer came in. Luciel handed him 10 gold coins and left the store, staring at his newly found weapon, or magic rock at the moment.

He put it in his pocket and browsed through a few more stores inventory. He didn't buy anything else and decided to go back to the inn. By the time he got back, it was dinner time. Just like yesterday, he had gotten dinner for free as well and went back to his room to sleep. He did the same thing when he woke up as yesterday, but instead of shopping, he decided to just venture the city. Knowing he probably wouldn't be there for very much longer, or for a while.

While he was venturing the city, he stumbled across the adventurers guild which was around the middle of the city. Opening the door, he saw that there was a sitting area, front desk, build board, and a few other things. Walking to the front desk, he got a few stares. "How does one join the Adventurers Guild?" He asked nonchalantly to the lady running the desk.

"Dear, you'd need to be at least level 15, have a grimoire, and be capable of fighting well. I wouldn't recommend someone as young as you join. I'll have to ask you to leave." She said this in an almost monotone voice, but it had some emotion to it. Luciel just nodded at her and left the building walking like he owned the place. He didn't know why he did that, but he felt cool so he didn't care.
