Luciel was taken back by this, the war scythe was one of the best weapons he'd ever seen. One with more potential than ones in legends and this man was telling him to get rid of it?! He was about to speak his emotions but before he could, the old man sighed and shook his head. "Another one taken away by greed and power. Such a young one too.... I fear I have put to much hope in you but your my only choice. People only live so long and I've lived longer than most, though my time is soon to come." Luciel only stared at him and was confused by what he meant before realizing what the man was going to say.
"I'll take you in as my apprentice to change your ways of thinking to something better. To enhance your capabilities to the best of my ability, but you must promise to change your weapon. Or I may have to force you." He stared gravely at the boy and Luciel felt as if he was drowning. He slowly took the war scythe out of the gem and slowly look at Sven, worry and confusion throughout his face. "Do I really have to get rid of this? I don't have another weapon or anything else to protect myself! I don't even know magic!"
Sven stood up suddenly and ripped the scythe of Luciel's hands. "Dear boy, I will allow you to take a new weapon from my collection, but first allow me to dispose of this cursed weapon." He walked away with such speed that Luciel had a hard time remembering he was an old man. He got up and hurried over to follow Sven to see what he would do to the so called, "cursed" weapon. The old man had made his way to the cellar door and yanked it open. He lead Luciel down and down until the air smelled stagnate.
Alongside the walls were glowing vines and other strange plants Luciel had never seen before. Soon after, they had made their way into a cavern far below the surface. It was a strange sight, the place looked like a glowing forest, complete with a small waterfall leading into a pond. Scattered about was a whole collection of different items ranging from rings to daggers. Luciel had never heard or seen anything like it. Though it seemed like a dream land, something was off. He could feel it. Though he decided to wait to see what weapon Sven would give him before he took action.
The old man led Luciel to a hallway that led to what appeared to be a weaponry. A wide arrangement of weapons lined the walls, be it bows or lances, there were too many types to count. "Dear boy, I know you may think this weapon is too 'boring' for you, I think it would suit your build the best." He lead him to a section containing about 30-45 spears ranging from different shapes and sizes. Putting a hand on Luciel's shoulder, he gestured towards the wall of spears. "Chose your partner, once picked, you won't be able to change or get rid of it. Don't think rashly." The man smiled with a little too much enthusiasm but Luciel didn't notice as he had an overload of information flowing into his head.
He scanned the wall before his eyes rested on one of the spears. It was medium sized and didn't look very powerful, but something about it felt different than the rest. Luciel couldn't put his finger on it but decided to take a closer look. Upon further inspection, the spear head seemed to be made of what appeared to be a giant tooth. The guard had a jagged flame like shape while the shaft had some type of strange markings on it. The end was a simple diamond shape with a small blue gem on the very end. The "tooth" was black in color while the rest was a mix of grays and some blues.
As soon as Luciel picked it up it felt as if something had pierced his heart. He tried to let go of the spear, but it was like touching a piece of metal that had been struck by lightning. Dropping to his knees, he writhed in pain still being unable to let go of the spear. Sven slightly smiled before bursting into laughter. "You fool, shouldn't you at least know not to take up a magical weapon without making sure its stable?! Haha...." He face palmed and pulled off his blindfold.
Luciel could barely make out his features with his watery eyes, but what he saw was of no mans face. The man, or monster he should say, had 4 eyes. They were all golden in color with little black slits that would have belonged to a snake. Strange bruised looking lines came from his eyes. It looked like dead bruised skin around a broken bone. He could feel the mans gaze stare at him with delight.
"Wha.....what are you?" He stuttered trying to back away from the monster. Responding with a laugh, the "old man" couldn't contain his excitement seeing those fearful eyes staring at him. "Oh dear boy.... did your parents never tell you to trust strange old men? No person could stay in this area and still be alive. Shapeshifters such as I, though, can. I just love to see the fear on peoples faces before I eat and steal what they have!" The old man didn't looked anywhere near a person now, he looked like some type of small dragon variant. Quite deformed, but a dragon none the less.
Luciel was disturbed by every fiber in his being, he knew he was going to die. "No...no this can't...this can't be how I go....." He told him self out loud like a lunatic. His anger spread throughout him until he could no longer feel. The pain from the spear had taken a toll on his body before he finally passed out due to exhaustion. Sven's expression turned into a frown when he realized his dinner passed out. "Well that's no fun, guess I'll just have to throw him in the chamber until he wakes up."
