Chapter 2 - The beginning

At first it was nothing. But actually that wasn't true at all, because there was also God, a man with curly white hair, who had a thick belly and was very short. His eyebrows had grown together to become one and his eyes were big brown button eyes. Always at his side was his brother the devil. A tall, slim man, wearing a black tails, a top hat and black shoes. The black hair was curled back and was hidden under the top hat. When he smiled, his white teeth and the single gold tooth shone towards you, and in his left hand, he held a staff made of black wood and with a golden pommel at the top. The devil and God lived in space surrounded by nothing but themselves. They floated in the black mass and enjoyed the time together. But the longer they lived, the more bored they became. For they simply had nothing to do. There was simply no occupation in this wasteland and always playing catch became boring after a short time. So they thought day after day about how they could get a little spice into their life and when they didn't think about it they sat there and discussed who was more bored. Above all in God, to whom the boredom was especially noticeable, a desire began to bubble up, because he could not stand this doing nothing any more. But no matter how hard God tried, he just could not think of anything. So the days passed with the same rhythm, God got up, thought about a new way of entertainment and fell asleep again. One day, when God heard the devil's snoring and sitting there, he got an idea and started to put it into action. He slaved and slaved and so almost a day passed until he had built a huge cloud cover around the devil and him. The cloud cover he called heaven. But because he was still not tired, he also built a huge ball underneath. Then when he had finished both, he looked at what he had achieved. But before he could have a good look at his work, he was overcome with tiredness and lay down to sleep next to the devil. Not an hour had passed when the devil awoke. He stretched himself and yawned heartily, then he sat up, his expression turning into a great astonishment, only to gradually turn into a grin again. With a cheer he jumped up and ran through the clouds, and for every cloud he broke through there was a hole with his image, which disappeared again after a few seconds. The devil amused himself for a while, but then came back to wake up God. "Let's play!" he shouted in God's ear, but he just kept on sleeping. But the devil did not give up. He stood on the belly of God and jumped up and down on him, defiantly repeating his words. God, who was inevitably awakened by this, turned to the side groaning and sat up. The devil jumped into the void, but caught himself well and sat down next to him on a cloud. "Hey, did you see that? " he pointed around him to the clouds: " I wonder how this gets here. But rather I just want to play. Let's play catch. " " One, I did it and two, no," God replied, crossing his arms. He yawned and wanted to lie down again. But the devil wanted to play now. "What do you mean, no! Just because you always lose you don't have to stop playing right away," he replied. God yawned: " I'm grown up now, I won't play such silly games anymore..." at that moment the devil touched him and yelled "Got you, it's your turn. Catch me if you can!", and he scurried, at an unspeakable speed, into a wall of clouds in front of him. "Just you wait", God cried out "I'll get you". He got up staggering and staggered a few steps, then he had found his kick again and with a grin on his face he took up the pursuit from the devil. God was following him and it was not long before he had caught him. After that God was the fugitive who had to be caught by the devil and so time passed and again and again the catcher changed. When God was once again the catcher and he had just caught the devil, the devil let himself sink through the cloud cover. God, who had not seen the devil disappear through the cloud cover, cried out: "Where are you devil, give one loud, I know you are here." But there was no sound. God sighed, then sat down on one of the clouds and looked into the distance. He just looked into the distance for a while and then he made up his mind. He stood up and was about to shout that he had given up and that the devil had won, when a faint sobbing sounded. He looked around in wonder, "Where did that sobbing come from?" Then another sobbing sounded louder and God heard that it came from under the clouds. Slowly he let himself sink through the thick cloud cover. At first he saw only the impenetrable white of the clouds, then a fantastic image played itself out before him. The devil floated on his belly in the air and looked down at the earth with his face propped up and his eyes glowing with tears. "Oh, how beautiful!" he sobbed, "Who was that, that mighty figure, that magnificent look!" "'I,' replied God dryly. " I was bored and so I created this" The devil looked at God, you looked at the ball again. Then he started to laugh. " You, you must have thought of this, never in your life. I'd never come up with such a great idea, let alone you. God didn't laugh and the devil stopped laughing too. "Oh, it's no joke, you really created all this. Well, if that's so," and he crossed his arms in front of his chest, "I don't like it that much, it's not bad, but yes, I could have done it better." God laughed, stepped on him and embraced him tightly so that the devil, who was sore to escape from the embrace, had no chance to free himself. " Devil do not be offended, let's just go and work on my idea, I need your help." God released his embrace and moved away from the devil, who made no move to go with him. "You know what?" God said to the devil, "Your turn to catch." The Devil laughed and turned to God and stood up. " All right, I'll help you work on your idea and because of the catch, you win. " The devil walked up to God and put his arm around him. " Well then. " said God happily and turned his head to the devil. " Let's go. " and they floated arm in arm through the cloud cover.
