In the following days God and the devil worked on further details of the earth. But this took longer than originally thought. For while God wanted the earth to consist mainly of water, the devil insisted that everything should consist of a solid substance which he called earth. The devil and God began to discuss. Both remained steadfast for a long time. But after long discussions and attempts of persuasion on the part of the devil, although these attempts of persuasion consisted more of killing God by scratching him until he bled or tried to strangle him. But even God did not hold back, he knocked the devil unconscious twice and had given him a black eye and numerous bleeding wounds. This was the theme of all the work. When God made plants grow on the earth, the devil turned them to ashes by making fire-breathing mounds of earth grow everywhere. Which caused them to get their hair back. After these fights, from which God emerged victorious, the devil halfway apologized. He said that he would much rather have it hot, which is understandable if you look at them twice. This apology was another reason for God to cover up the devil with rain blows. Only after long negotiations did the two of them agree that these hills would be allowed to spit fire every few years. Also on the 4th day the devil did not stop to destroy the work of God. While God tried his best to create countless shining objects and one big object in the sky, the devil had nothing better to do than to wait until the objects were ready and then let them rain down to earth with a flick of the wrist. With an enormous speed they flew unstoppably towards the earth and hit it with a big bang. Thereby the earth shook and unevenness formed on it. After God had struggled to place a few new objects in the sky, the devil dropped them towards the earth with a grin on his face and another flick of his wrist. This lasted a few more times until God tore the thread of patience and they were already on top of each other again. After God had managed to convince the devil to allow the objects in the sky and he had brought them back to the sky, the earth looked more like a potato than a round ball. The earth no longer had a smooth surface, as before, but was covered with bumps. It was also slightly elongated, so it was more oval than round. Even though the devil had promised God that he would leave the stars alone, he still cannot leave it alone today. Again and again he lets a few fall towards the earth, so few that God just doesn't notice them. We call these falling stars shooting stars. On the fifth day, God created animals that swim in water and animals that should fly in the air. But these animals did not fly or swim for long. Because the devil conjured huge stones around the necks of the water animals, which were so large that the animals were pulled headfirst under the water and sank with a gargle. Some of them drowned and the others, who could breathe under water, starved to death. But he also showed no mercy to the flying animals. Without further ado he made a bow appear and shot arrows at these objects. The flying creatures were pierced by the hail of arrows and staggered to the ground. So after a short time the whole land mass was covered with dead animals. When God heard the lamentation of the animals, his heart was so sore that he began to cry. The tears flowed down his cheeks. Individual tears turned into streams of tears and out of them rivers of tears. The devil, who watched this, repented that he had done this and thus hurt God. After he had comforted God and promised that he would no longer kill the animals, God calmed down again and created the animals again. But already on the 6th day, the devil had forgotten his good words of the previous day, because when God created the land animals, he quickly let boulders rain down on the animals and crushed them. Because God did not want to rebuild the animals again several times, he built a race of animals which were slow and not very handsome, but which were not crushed by lumps of stone so quickly. These he called mammoths. But the devil also had an answer to this. He created a two-legged creature, which he called man, and equipped them with bow and arrow. Then he put it into their heads that they had to eat mammoths to survive. The creatures let themselves drift away and even God could not stop them from killing the mammoths. But it did not take long and people had exterminated all mammoths. Slowly God got tired of all the arguments. It was also obvious to both of them that they had not come out of the fights without injuries. The devil could see almost nothing, because his eyes were very swollen and when he laughed, there were more tooth gaps than teeth. But the devil didn't think that the teeth were so bad, because he thought that at least the gold tooth was still holding on and that the only thing that counted was the gold tooth. Also, the devil was no longer satisfied with just one stick, but had an exactly the same stick in his other hand. He leaned on it all the time and moved on with a distorted face. But even God had not done much better. His face had two scratches all over his cheeks. His dress had several holes, his hair had split into two hairpieces hanging down left and right, and the middle of it was now bare, and the middle finger of his right hand was no longer standing like the others, but was standing unnaturally at a 90 degree angle. This is why God suggested to the devil that he should be allowed to keep the people, but not to kill all the animals. There had to be enough animals left to live on. After they had agreed on this. God went to sleep, because he was tired of all the work it brought with it when the devil joined the project. But even with the devil all the pranks did not go by without a word. He too was tired and lay down to God so that their two backs touched. The effort must have been great, because God as well as the devil slept for a whole day and it looked like they were dead. The only thing that suggested that they were alive was that their bellies arched and sank again.
