I gradually loosened the tight grip I had on his sweater. He gently let me go and walked past me to the table.
"have a seat please"
I came to my senses and quickly took the seat which was parallel to his. He began working on his laptop.
"How have you been?" he stopped typing and now his one hand was on the table while the other one was on the chin. He was looking at me with full attention, which made me even more nervous. I moved my hand to my hair and moved them behind my ear, which I do when I am nervous.
"fine."
"I see. you know why you are called here! Right?"
"yeah, I guess as I am a witness..." I wasn't looking at him. I don't know why I rather chose to look at my hands.
"Miss Azalea Parker. What did you see there?" he asked me. His intertwined hands near his lips made him look dreadfully serious. I blinked several times at that.
"uh... a big man who..had a gun and then he shot another man which was laying with the garbage bins…" I tried explaining with both my hands.
"okay??" he started typing again.
"anything you heard?"
"Yes, they were talking about a flash drive. The guy with the gun was asking
for it but the other guy refused to give it to him," It seemed that he was noting it sidewise in the laptop ahead of him.
"Flash drive??" He asked with one eyebrow lifting upwards.
"That's what the guy said." so not sure of me
"Hmm. Okay! other than the flash drive?" I shrugged. He began thinking deeply
"But…how did you get there? I mean you don't live there. Right?" Now his eyes narrowed a bit as if he was suspecting me.
"Uhh…it was that…I had.. my friend lives there" It got me confused all of a sudden
"In that abandoned area?"
Excuse me? does he want me to tell him everything about my life?PFFH
"Umm no. Not there but nearby" I scratched my forehead, not sure if I was annoyed or confused.
"Right!" he nodded but still thinking. He started typing again.
I sat there for almost 30 minutes and he was still typing, It was as if he totally forgot I was still there. Now, this was getting on my nerves. I knew I was going to lose it...
~
NOAH-
As she told me the details, I kept noting them. I knew this had something to do with that flash drive. I just needed to confirm it and that was done so I put a green tic to the confirmed notes. I further added some more, as she told me about the other guy which happened to be the victim. When they said the flash drive had gone missing, I knew there was something wrong as all these years it had been kept safe and now when I needed it, It's lost!
I was busy thinking about the information the witness gave me. I almost forgot that she was still sitting in here.
oh!
I still have to ask her about their appearance. I was about to ask her when I heard a loud bang on the desk. As I looked up from my laptop, the girl had her hand on the desk and she was staring at me furiously. I gave her a questioning look with my one eyebrow up. That was enough to burst her up.
"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE! IF YOU ARE SOME DETECTIVE, THIS DOESN'T MEAN YOU KEEP PEOPLE WAITING FOR YOU. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH WORK HERE" with that she just stood and left the room and of course, smashed the door, trust me girls love to do that when they are angry.
she left me stunned.
This was not good. I know the staff was watching from the control room and probably laughing at me for getting my first insult from a girl. This girl is no good for my job. Did she really have to do that? I massaged my temples. This Job is really getting on my nerves now. It orders me to be patient and polite with all the people sitting on the seat opposite to mine. Even if it is the criminal itself. Though I was never meant to be a DCI if the situation had not led me here. I had to become one to solve my life's biggest nightmare. I have known my purpose in life for the past 20 years from now.
The wounds are still fresh in my mind. The screams. The blood…
It always creeps me thinking about it. I sighed to let go. It's not the time to think this but rather I needed to think about how to bring that girl back. I know for sure that if I call her again, she was going to cut the call on my face which I cannot bear. I need this girl. I know she is the one that will help me resolve the matter. After so many years this case is reopened and I don't want to lose the chance this time. I closed my laptop and stood up. Something caught my attention on the desk. A phone. Her phone…
A wide smirk spread on my face. I knew exactly what to do now.
