Chapter 4 - Unhealthy

Hiroki glanced at the clock; it showed 13:57. There was no sign of Yuu leaving her research room. He approached the dining table and stared at the wrapped food.

"Hiroki, Yuu is hungry. Can you put the food on this trolley?" said Jer as he appeared behind Hiroki.

Hiroki was a bit startled and nodded. He put the wrapped food on the trolley and closed it with a lid.

"Thank you very much for your help." Jer wagged its tails and approached the research room's door. The door then appeared. The food trolley moved in, followed by Jer. Hiroki was thus alone again.

Before the door disappeared, Jer ran out of the research room in a panic.

"Hiroki! Yuu... Yuu!" Jer panicked and circled itself while trying to bite its tails.

"What's wrong with Yuu?" Hiroki panicked and rushed toward the research room. He saw a white room with Yuu collapsed in the middle of the room.

"Yuu!" Hiroki shouted and rushed toward Yuu. She had lost consciousness, and her breath was unstable.

"Jer, call a medic!" shouted Hiroki.

"Ah! On it!" Jer realized and lifted its tails. "This is room number 1309, residence of the researcher, Yuu. She was found unconscious inside the research room. Please send a medic ASAP!"

"Bzz… Sending medic to room number 1309, researcher Yuu. Bzz. Medic sent." answered a robotic voice over the phone.

Ding, dong. A few minutes after the call ended, the doorbell rang. The front door slid open, and a man in white coat rushed in and headed towards the research room. He saw Hiroki holding Yuu in his arms; he approached them and kneeled in front of Hiroki. He grabbed Yuu's right hand and put on a thick-white bracelet with a red plus sign.

"What happened before she collapsed?" asked the white-coat man.

"Yuu was in the research room from 07:39 until 13:57; her house assistant asked for her lunch to be delivered to the research room. She was found unconscious right after-," Hiroki answered fluently.

"How about you, Ageha-human?" The man in white coat switched his focus from the white bracelet to Hiroki and stared at him. "What are you doing in the meantime?"

"I…" Hiroki was startled. He opened his mouth but couldn't find the words to answer.

"You are supposed to stay with her every time so that this thing won't happen." The man in white coat sighed. "I guess it can't be helped." He stood up and said, "Researcher Medic, Levi, commands HRK110 to bring Yuu to her bedroom."

"Bzz… Understood." Hiroki suddenly buzzed and answered robotically. He lifted Yuu and headed toward her bedroom; then, he gently put her down.

Levi followed Hiroki into Yuu's bedroom.

"So this is the bedroom," Levi mumbled. He glanced around the room and said, "It's simpler than I thought."

Beep, beep, beep. The white bracelet beeped. "Blood test is done, nothing was detected," said a voice that came out of the bracelet.

"Well, as expected." Levi shrugged. He approached Hiroki and patted his shoulder. "You better observe your master. She has overworked." Levi inched closer to Hiroki's ears and whispered, "She is an important researcher for us as well."

"Okay, I will take my leave now that she appears to be fine." Levi removed the white bracelet from Yuu's hand and put it inside one of his pockets. "You don't need to see me out." Levi walked toward the bedroom door and stopped. He turned his head around and looked at Hiroki, "You need to get a grip of yourself, Hiroki. You are you, not a spy." Levi turned away and waved his hand.

Hiroki felt confused and puzzled. 'What does he mean by a spy?' He sat beside Yuu and brushed her tired face with his big hand. "Am I a burden to you, Yuu?" he whispered.
