Finn was with Marv as they sat in the first carriage. the other people within this carriage were Margaret and the woman with glasses. her name was Eve and was a real bookworm because she never stopped reading the book in her hands. Marv wasn't interested and just looked out the glass window to see the city one more time before they left for these 'undead plains'
Margaret kept stealing glances at Marv and wondered how strong he was. unable to contain her curiosity she asked Marv and was shocked when he responded that he was an E rank. Margaret wasn't sure how to refer to him until Finn spoke up and told Margaret that Marv was much stronger than his rank.
Eve looked up from her book temporarily and scanned Marv before she returned to her book. Margaret then tried asking Marv questions about his family background. Finn just smirked and decided to have a nap.
the other carriage wasn't that much different. it had enough room for six people and was currently filled with the other party members. Alyssa was chatting with the scarfed woman while Masha was looking out the window. the two men were playing...rock, paper, scissors and Brianna wanted to join in. not seeing a problem they let her join in and lost about 10 rounds.
Brianna had a huge smile as she was having fun. the men put away the urge to get serious as Brianna's smile was enough to make their day.
the scarfed woman was called Hannah and the two men were Roger and Mark.
the groups had travelled for a continuous five hours. as they headed farther north-west from Arcane city the air and weather seemed to worsen a bit. Margaret shivered as she saw the sky that was getting darker. Marv decided to have a nap three hours ago and was currently learning how to control his skills better with Pale. Marv had actually learnt this ability from Pale where he was able to shift his body into his subconscious and train his skills. unfortunately, his system wasn't as versatile here so he couldn't remove things from his inventory or see his status screen. Pale taught Marv different techniques with the rose scythe and even helped Marv come up with his own.
Finn had woken up and was excited to see these undead plains. so he chatted with Margaret a bit.
two more hours passed after that and the carriages quickly came to a halt, jolting Marv awake. the drivers tapped the top of the wooden carriages signalling that this was as far as they could go. the groups unloaded their stuff and thanked the carriage drivers as they left.
Masha looked around her and saw that the grass under her feet was yellow and wilted. she then looked behind her to see the undead plains.
the plains stretched for quite a distance with swords sticking out of the ground and skeletal bodies littered everywhere before a mysterious fog blocked the rest of the plains. the grass was yellow and some areas had large missing patches of grass. there were two large undead trees sticking out of the ground right before the fog. their bark was cracked and their branches twisted high in the air. Margaret walked over to the two trees with everybody else following behind her.
as they got closer the skies grew darker as grey storm clouds appeared out of nowhere. Marv looked at the dead bodies and smiled. there was death all over and he seemed to have a deep connection within all. Brianna held Alyssa's hand while trying to be brave but jumped in fear when she tapped her ankle on a skeletal finger that was protruding from the ground.
(mage writer: it seems that not many of you know why Brianna was brought along on this journey, do you? well, I will tell you...well, Brianna refused to stay behind in Arcane city and kept doing dangerous stunts until Finn promised to bring her with them. then there was also the fact that Pale told Marv to bring Brianna along because the plains may somehow be related to her.)
Marv wasn't too happy with Pale's suggestion because it put Brianna in danger and it may implicate his own battles. Brianna knew that she was going to be a burden on Marv but still wanted to be near him. Masha wasn't all too interested so she just kept quiet and left the decision to the others.
Margaret had now reached the two trees and was taking deep breaths as Eve closed her book and patted Margaret on the shoulder. Marv walked forward and smiled at Margaret in what he thought was support. Margaret then stood up straight as she rose her left hand slightly to her chest. she then closed her eyes as she started an incantation. Marv immediately felt pressure pressing on his body as he sunk to his knees and held his head tightly. everybody but Margaret stared at Marv with wide eyes at his actions and that was when it hit Finn.

Finn was really disturbed as he tried to help Marv up. Alyssa was now commanding the fie element to surround the group in small fireballs. she narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she watched Marv. after a minute of Margaret chanting her incantation the ground shook slightly and her eyes opened to reveal constantly changing runes. Marv recognised them immediately as he watched them flash.

Marv was shocked as Margaret was now walking towards one of the trees and her steps seemed to match everybody's heartbeats as her black hair was starting to rise higher and higher. Marv was not happy with this as Margaret placed her right hand on one of the trees. she then turned around to Finn and in a voice that wasn't her shy self, she asked Finn to place his right hand on the other tree.
Finn had an idea of what was happening and complied to Margaret's request. he walked over to the other tree as his footsteps also matched the heartbeat of everybody else. he stretched his arms a bit as he yawned and placed his right hand on the opposite tree.
the second he did Marv felt a heavy presence lifted off his shoulders and his conscious slowly coming back.
the air around the group immediately rose in temperature as the formerly still bodies of dead skeletons started rising. Alyssa was disturbed at the scene and Brianna brought herself closer to Alyssa. the skeletons shifter their cracked skulls to look at the group and weapons lifted off the ground to enter the hands of the skeletons.
"so be it...".
