Chapter 19——PLUVIOPHILES III
——————————————————————————
//Akina//
——————————————————————————
Hello. Hello.
Hello, oh sweet horrible reality.
I like to think that everything that has happened was
a part of God's plan, that everything is going to be okay—I don't think that part is right.
Everything is going to be okay.
I don't even know if the school is going to close down in a month or a year, and I'm in this school because the teachers pity me.
There is no an ounce of power in me: I'm sorta fast and I get out of the way when I need to.
Why am I here?
Nothing makes sense!
Nothing in the realms make any sense.
Where do powers come from? How does anything work?
How are we even alive?
To make it even worse: we all were in danger, we would have been killed if I tried harder than I did, I can sing a part from a Disney movie and yet I can't utter a single word without stuttering.
Actually, if I hadn't sing that stupid song: Maybe then.....Stop it Akina. I told myself. I shouldn't be thinking about that.
And now——Most of the group are out on the steps of the school, leaving to go back to our homes.
Me and my brother live in Zanark Town, which is in the outskirts of Christine.
Every state in the N.U.S.N. has three big cities and Avignon has Christine (one of safest places you can be in minus Leiznice), Yorkney (that's where crime happens the most), and Navotitlan (crime happens the second most but there is peace there). Christine has a nice "comfy" feeling to Avignon, unlike the other two.
Surwick is in the middle of Navotitlan and Yorkney with a barrier that protects the school from harm.
Maybe there was an interval?
There is one catch from Surwick to Christine: It's pretty far away from here, as in pretty far away.
I mean——There are only two options: One with a car and one with a train ticket.
Since my big bro is sorta oblivious and forgets things before leaving the house; I'm in charge of holding our one ticket to paradise and I won't lose it.
Funka's dad came to pick her up for a change while Sera left in the same direction Ryoji did...She had business to take care of in Houndspire.
And turns out: Mom and Dad are making Blondies and Sloppy Joes.
Just what every kid like us needs. Man, even thinking about the tomato fused meat mix made my mouth water. I thought in happiness.
Takeo came with us since he said a couple of upper ranks-students wanted to jump him after school, so we invited him. His tails were spinning with joy as we offered him a night to spend since Dr. Crossings has to heal more patients, and I know that feeling.
The feeling of getting attacked by every angle; I understand that feeling, and it ain't
Taig also tagged along since he had nothing better to do at home, as his guns were in good maintenance and his house would be all empty: His parents were in Iceland for their 20th anniversary, I would love to go to Iceland.
Or
Taiwan!
If I can just leave this place a month or two, I
Even the train station looks empty since everyone was at home. No villain would dare to do anything the next few days, so they're probably just planning in their secret lairs, twirling their mustaches.
A glance from my train boarding pass and sigh came out of my mouth, already listing all of the problems on there. Why do I have this name?
I don't understand why I have "Willoby" as a last name, instead of my adopted family's last name
Sounds I'm a pink kangaroo or something else...Wait? Is my last name supposed to be "Willowly"? Was my dad dyslexic?
My dad was never there for me. Never there
Maybe he's out exploring the Realms or really just got milk.
I don't care about it anymore. I think about from time to time, but I know it wouldn't do me anything good.
Just have to move on! I coached myself, punching the mental air around me, I didn't do that since we were now in the train station to Zanark Town
And this train station feels so comfy all around even without anyone except us and the train ticket collector.
"So much for the welcoming environment I was expecting..." Taig sort of marveled how empty it was, with Marcus come to train station's defense. "Then again: Look what happened, Taig. The whole world's in shock."
"Ah: Miss Akina and Young Marcus!" He said hi as he was looking at us with his yellow, beady eyes as he was an Avian: Half-bird and half-man. He wore a cartoon-looking train ticket collector outfit and a little cap to go with. "And her friends! How are you all feeling?"
I never knew his name since he said his name was "unpronounceable", so we called him "Birdie".
Everything's peachy! I almost got killed by a giant robot squid! Life is good! You know what I'm saying?
"...Good." I lied without a stutter, I known this train ticket collector about five years now so my speech impediment wouldn't be a roadblock.
The train felt even more mysterious, as we were the only ones on it.
We were silent with one another while the train was moving, no one wanted to talk about what happened.
What made it even worse?
I should'a been the first one to speak in the train.
If I could learn how to speak without causing a stutter, I would talk for days.
———Later———
Man...I love living here...So beautiful and I really feel like all of what happened was only a dream. I thought warmly about my hometown while
sitting close to the window of my room, watching how this one clocktower in the center of my hometown, has been broken for a long time.
If there had to be a theme for this marvelous town, it would have to be the ost for Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts II.
Yeah....I remember the name for it now, it was called 'Lazy Afternoons'.
Sure feels like a lazy afternoon today. No homework, no training, no thugs, no patrolling: the perfect day to just window-gaze the most lovely town in the N.U.S.N.
"So, you're having second thoughts about all this?" I asked my brother as he sat across me, he had of those faces where he was second-guessing himself. "Akina.....When you got hurt, I felt really bad: I shouldn't left you by yourself-
"I was also on patrol that day when I got beat up," I interrupted him in a quick way. "It was my fault in the first place: Not yours."
He was looking for another way to counter it, I knew he wanted to take the blame and rub it all over him. Marcus was different like that——Everything that ever happened to me, it's always his fault.
To feel that
Taig and Takeo were playing Madden 2018 on the Xbox in the living room. My brother insisted on them playing 2K; I just wanted them to have their shoes off when they came in.
I kept looking at the clocktower as we kept on carrying the conversation. "Marcus, you shouldn't be like this. Mom's making Sloppy Joes and Blondies: Your favorite."
I was waiting for a smile to come as he kept looking down, if I have to force a smile on him: So be it.
By tickling him.
To submission.
His weak spots were his armpits, and I attacked them quickly as he began to laugh uncontrollably. His laugh was also adorable. "Okay Okayokayokay!!!" He breathed in as our dad walked in and caught us in the midst.
"Kids!! Sloppy joes are done!!" My mom called out and everyone except me at first ran to the kitchen to get their plates, I walked down the stairs
Her hair was tied up in a tight bun, and she took really good of herself as every Saturday she spent two hours in the bathroom.
That's my mom for ya.. I thought warmly of her.
She is Marcus's' biological mom and mine. My pale complexion and her complexion didn't matter to her.
She's my mom and no one will ever replace her.
I'm grateful for her, her smile were always a pearly white even after eating, and they were naturally white.
"Hey Aki," My mom got my attention as she took the binoculars and used on my window. "Say, do you know these kids that walking towards our house?
Huh. I was amazed that Ryoji came after all, I sorta of knew he was coming but he's really mysterious and I don't really he can take a hint.
And now when I think of it, he's kinda of a awkward——like me.
Su-Jin Nieswurz, who is really nice but even her shyness is dialed to a twenty four.
She's very pretty, and also has a huge obvious crush on Takeo. I wish he wasn't so dense always. She's easily the sweetest girl in the class.
"I do. That's Ryoji Dragomir Kazama and that's-"
"Su-Jin Nieswurz. Me and her mom go way back." She marveled about Ryoji, she was very curious as I told my parents of what happened three days after it happened. "And that's the boy that saved you from those thugs?"
I nod my head, making her the opportunity to continue. "If he's your age and messed up three grownup men, I wonder how he'll be when he's an adult."
"He's also a Heart-Bond." I notified her.
"Heart-Bond or no Heart-Bond, let's give him a warm welcome." I love that about my mom: She doesn't hate anyone.
The Duncannons were easily one of the best hosts in Zanark Town, I would also say we're the best hosts in Christine.
"It is a sincere pleasure to meet the mom of my good friend."
"My, my! Aren't you two cutie pies?"
"...Hello." That was the shyness that oozed from Su-Jin's pores.
"Oh please, Su-Jin!" My mom brushed it off. "No need to be shy: I won't bite!"
"Blondie?" My mom offered Su-Jin and him, he leaned closer to it and smelled it before asking, "What's a blondie?"
"Well, a Blondie."
"To me, it looks like a yellow brownie."
Ryoji was running through my mom's patience, my mom was not to be trifled with."Well, it is exactly a brownie, except it has butterscotch chips and doesn't have any chocolate." I could the heat rising from my mom, waiting for Ryoji to grab a Blondie.
He carefully took it and looked around it before taking a small bite.
He grinned, I never seen him like this. "This...is ukusno!" That has to be.....Croatian. I thought to myself.
"Croatian and Japanese. How did your parents meet each other?" My mom asked him politely and carefully.
"A long story that I do not wish to tell."
Then my brother came towards Ryoji and gave each other a fist-bump, and Ryoji remembered something. "Hey, Marcus: This kid, Kemp Kingsley, says he wants another round with you. Saying that you are not so different?"
"Oh, he's a BBB." My brother said with a large smile.
"What's that?"
"A British Black Bloke!" He imitated Kemp, who always spoke in a very heavy British accent every time he spoke.
"Do you have to a silly acronym for yourself since you don't meet the criteria for that?"
"A OAN!"
".... I don't know what that means either.." Ryoji said as he looked at Su-Jin, who also shrugged no.
"I'm an obnoxious ass ni-" Immediately before he finished that word,
"Nicotine pat-tch!!!" I spoke for him. A Croatian Japanese kid does NOT need to learn a word like that.
A word like that comes out of Ryoji's mouth and he'll get beat up from an entire mob.
I knew my brother was a little upset, he had that look in his eyes. "What gives, Akina?!"
"If he's isn't so experienced in a Disney sing-a-long, do you really think you should say that word in front of him?
"Ohhh..."
My dad can cook up a mean Joe or practically anything if he wanted to.
"Man, Akina," Dad said while wiping his face down from helping mom in the kitchen. He was really sweating from the oven, he's been the kitchen all day, helping my mom cooking those Sloppy Joes that everybody liked. "Your friend's a trip." His beard had a little bit of 'Joe on it.
They're called Sloppy Joes for a reason.
"To be a little honest, Dad," I started to speak to him in a casual way: "He is. He is a good guy, though." He put down the spatula rather easily, agreeing with me. "If you say he's a good person, then I'll consider him as a good person."
My dad has been work to make society better by talking about the problems in them, like racism and the other topics. My mom, a stay-at-home lawyer, does the exact same thing except in a more timely...Manner.
His job sort of revolves of protesting for the social problems here in the N.U.S.N.
People with different gender identities and sexual orientation sort of are met with prejudice.
I can't stand that, people should be happy in how that makes them happy.
And this should be a good time with the boys. And girls, of course.
———9:17 P.M.———
Everyone except Takeo went home, leaving him, my brother and I all alone in the house. Takeo was sleeping with Marcus on a blow-up mattress.
Sound alseep, I could hear their duet of snoring next to my room as my walls rumbled from the aftershock.
I was ready to go to sleep, I looked back in the window seal and reminisce on how fun it was today.
Ryoji ate his 'Joe with a fork and a knife, making my parents and very one else very confused as he ate. Maybe they taught him that in Switzerland. I dunno, I thought it was more 'funny' than weird.
He's just so powerful and he knows it.....But he's humble, he knows the errors of his mistake.
That's the thing about him and Funka: They have amazing powers and I just stand in their way.
If I could help one person, one person with my own strength form the help of God: I'll be the happiest girl in the world. I will never be the damsel in distress in my story.
I will never get beaten up like that.
That's my number one priority.
I want to be strong where I could hold up a car like Superman did in the very first issue of Action Comics, or run faster than a speeding bullet.
Now that even that sounds too much for me.
Oh, loving God....I prayed in a way I was taught—The right way. Give me Strength.
