Chereads / [DROPPED] The Power of Nature / Chapter 4 - The City of Mathora

Chapter 4 - The City of Mathora

It's been a week since I left Yggdrasil to visit the elven villages and cities and I am now on my way to the edge of my domain, where both humans and elves live together. Mythi informed me that some humans are spies, which did not surprise me. The spies got a hold of information that the god the elves worship is visiting and it seems The Empie plans to do something when I visit the city closest to their territory. Foolish humans!

The kingdoms however heard from the elves they have living in their borders that their god is visiting all the towns in the domain and all of them are currently going back into my domain to see me. That alerted the kingdoms, one of the kingdoms seem to almost celebrate my arrival, while the other seems scared. I don't blame them, I will not touch their kingdoms as from the information I've got they are good to my people. If you're good to my people, I will be good to your people.

I could feel every inch of my domain as I was standing there and I could instantly appear anywhere in my domain if I wished so. But back on earth, I had to be home all the time due to my illness, so I wanted to travel. I could even appear at all cities at the same time if I wanted with my current power, but where's the charm in that!

I've also noticed that nobody actually knows my name. They just refer to me as God, liege, or master. Which makes me want to think of a name for myself, I could use my old name, but that does not fit a God of Nature, my in-game name was Ysus, but I wonder if I could come up with something better, fitting of a true god.

(A/N: I'm very bad at coming up with names, comment in this paragraph, or general comments if you got a good name for me to use! I've tried coming up with gender-neutral names for my MC, as the god of nature, the MC is neither man nor woman, but since he was a man before I will most likely take something that sounds more like a man. for now, I will mostly just call the MC; Lord.)

I had changed my height slightly and I was now around 5"9 (175cm) tall, instead of my original 4"2(130cm). I did enjoy being that small though, but I figured out that the reason the elves kneel is that they feel it is disrespectful to look down on me when speaking. So I might even make me even taller in the future.

I could sense that we were close to one of the major cities on the outskirts of my domain, I could sense the elves' delight, the humans' curiosity, and a few humans who basically screamed out greed. Maybe those humans can be made an example of, I have never killed before, at least not "real" people. But I already know I will not hesitate to kill anyone if they dare attack me or my people. I think it might be the nature of my being that makes me feel like this, but I truly see all elves as my family. I'm extremely proud of the cities they live in, some have discovered new uses for their magic that revolutionized magic for many. I see them all as my children.

So if anyone touches my children, they will die, and not a quick death at that!

"My Lord, calm yourself." I heard Seb say. Oops, I need to learn how to control that better, my emotions heighten my powers depending on which emotion. If I get angry my size increases as well as my aura, which is almost always suppressed otherwise. My aura to my people is calming and relaxing, while for enemies it's fear. Have not had the chance to try it yet though.

"Thank you, Seb," I replied as I had calmed myself. I was currently in my carriage, with Seb as the driver.

I could see the walls of the city in the distance, I could see the people inside all awaiting me. I could sense the elven scouts an hour or so ago, they were probably there to make sure I had a good welcome and informed the higher-ups in the city about my arrival.

We slowly entered the town and the first thing I saw was thousands of elves trying to get a glimpse of me. So I had Seb slow down as I used my powers to remove the roof of my carriage and let them all see me. It felt a bit awkward though, should I wave?

I didn't wave, but I did smile at them, and through my power, I let them all know my feelings for them, proud and happy. This made them all cheer and as I passed they started following the carriage. We were heading towards the town square where the city lord had set up for my arrival. I could see a few old humans next to a few young elves, most likely partners. Elves have a life span, over ten times that of a human, so I can only assume that this is a natural sight now. I also sensed a mix, half-elves? It's good to know that they could reproduce with each other, which is after all a big desire for many, to have children.

We arrived in the city square and what welcomed me was the city-lord in the front, they had even prepared a throne for me, haha! I don't need such a thing, they seem nervous. I can understand that they want to please me, so cute of them. Behind the city-lord were some officials and behind them were many citizens of this city, called Mathora city. Elves, half-elves, humans, and I can even feel the presence of a high elf.

We stopped near the gathering and Seb was the first to get off and walk towards me to help me out of the carriage. Not that I needed help, but he did it as a gesture. He was designed to be my personal servant/butler so I know he wants to do all this. The entire crowd was silent as I stepped out of the carriage and the second I put my foot down on the ground, my carriage disappeared into thin air. I still have my inventory, I tried to find the limit of it, but so far it seems limitless.

That made gasp in slight shock. There are people who are born with magic that acts as an inventory, but when they take in and out stuff, a black hole of sorts opens up and they can put the items in there.

I walked up to the lord and almost everyone went on their knees to pay their respects, but I used my power to stop them.

"No need to kneel to me, you're my children." I said, My voice was raspy, but it still had a calming effect to it. They all got happy when I called them my children and some in the back started to cheer a bit.

They had prepared a banquet for all citizens in celebration, I took my seat on the throne they had made. I could feel the touch of love put into this throne. It was made entirely out of wood and leaves, but not wood that had been cut down, but wood from dead trees that the elves had used magic on to give enough vigor to be of use. My skin (bark) mixed in well with the throne.

"I'm not sure what you have planned, but go ahead and enjoy yourself. If you wish to talk with me, I will not deny anyone." I said with a warm smile towards the people and they started their party. I could see the difference in here compared to the other cities, these elves had adopted some human standards when it came to a party. There were musicians playing instruments, dancers, loud cheering, and more. I felt warm at the sight, my children are adapting.

I could see a small child among the crowd that looked at me with curiosity and she was nervous. I smiled at the sight, she wanted to speak with me but was being shy. Only a minute or so later I could see her resolve as she almost ran towards me with her head down, slightly red cheeks.

She was a half-elf, around eight years old, long golden hair that almost reached her feet and a beautiful pair of bright blue eyes. She wore a pink floral dress a red ribbon on her chest, and in her hair was a pink hair bow. I think she really liked pink.

"Eh, h-hello!" She said and looked up at me, still red cheeks and in curiosity. Children's innocence and purity are so cute.

"Hello, little one. What is your name?" I said as a leaned forwards, towards her and gestured for her to come closer.

"I'm Elise! Are you made of trees?" She said and asked and walked closer to me. I laughed at the question, it was a good one honestly.

"Why don't you check for yourself?" I answered and held my hands towards her. I could also sense what I think were her parents in the crowd, looking at us. The mother, an elf, was very proud of her child, while the dad, a human in his early thirties, looked worried.

Elise went up and touched my hand. while it looked like it did, it felt like any skin did.

"Wow...." She said as she continued to caress my hand. I just smiled and let her continue. She then looked up at me and asked.

"Are you really a god?" Somehow, a lot of elves seemed to be offended by this question, I could see the mother suddenly running towards us. She also had golden hair, like Elise, but she had green eyes. The father also followed and he had short brown hair and bright blue eyes and a clean shaved beard. The mother ran up and held Elise and looked at me.

"I'm sorry for her words, she is just a child." She said, slightly scared. The father seemed to be ready to take any action necessary to protect his family. This made me happy, a true man.

I stood up and walked towards them and crouched down their level and smiled at the mother.

"No need to worry, child. It's just a child's curiosity." I said and put my hand on Elise's head and smiled at her.

"I told everyone that if they wanted, they can speak with me. Naturally, I expect some questions, and since I've been absent for a long time, it's only natural to question my godhood." I said and looked up to the mother, then the father.

"Even you, mister, I see as my child. You have made a family with my family, that makes you my family and I would never bring harm to my family." I said and could see the relief on the father's face. While the mother started crying a bit as she was both relieved and happy.

Little Elise, however, didn't understand what she did wrong. The rest of the crowd heard me and were all proud to call themselves my family. However, the scum that hid in the shadows seemed happy to have found a "weakness" of mine. I could feel their eyes turn from me to Elise.

Anger. To target a small child to get to someone else. I was angry and everyone felt it. Those that were not the target of my anger felt I was angry, but it did not make them scared, it calmed them and they all looked around to where they heard screams. Four humans laid on the ground and looked at me in fear, they tried to run away, but veins had already bound them and the veins carried them towards me.

"Now, I apologize for interrupting the celebrations. But these people came here in order to strike me down. But they seemed to have realized they would fail and when they saw my interaction with this family, they turned their attention towards little Elise here." I said and looked around the crowd and then back to Elise and smiled warmly at her. She, in all her innocence, did not understand what was happening.

The people were all calm, but I could feel their anger at the disrespect. The mother and father took Elise and went away. All families that had come took their children under a certain age away and then returned. After around 30 minutes they had all gathered and now they showed the anger on their faces.

I looked towards the city-lord, who's name is Alluin. He looked at the humans in disappointment and anger.

"Alluin, you know them?" I asked him, I already knew, but I needed him to let everyone know.

"Yes, my lord. They have lived in the city for a couple of years, they are all siblings, or so they claimed when they came here. They claimed to be deserters of The Revell Empire (The empire near the borders)." He said and looked at them now, only in anger, because they had the audacity to try to harm their god!

"Seb." I said. Seb, who was behind me nodded and walked up to the humans and put his hands on their heads, one after another. Nothing seem to happen and the crowd was confused. He then turned to me and closed his eyes a few seconds before he opened them again and stood behind me once again.

"I see. They are slave traders." I said. Seb had looked into their minds and then shared them with me. This statement made the crowd even angrier, I needed to let them deal with this, this is their city and they have their laws, I will not interfere unless I deem their punishment too mild.

"Alluin, you deal with the punishments. There are more like them in the city, I will deal with them." I said and raised my hands in the air and everyone close could feel the dense power surge that came out. Suddenly several dozen humans and even one half-elf appeared, tied up with roots.

"They are all either slave traders, spies, or have bad intentions. You can figure out which is which." I said and looked to the city-lord, who had called the guards and were brining the prisoners away to interrogate.

"The half-elf, however, have too much elven blood on his hands. He will die here and now." I said. I could feel his bloodthirsty and I could feel that he took pleasure in killing and bringing pain to his victims. A serial killer.

I made roots grow inside of him and watched as he screamed in pain as the roots spread inside him, I kept him alive as the roots destroyed his organs and crushed his bones, it took over ten minutes before the roots took his heart and he died. My first time killing a sentient being, one I would see as my child, a half-elf. Yet I felt no remorse. He was not worthy to be called human nor elf.

"Let us end this celebration here, I will stay in the city for a few more days before I go visit the Kremore Kingdom (The kingdom closest to this city, they seemed to celebrate that I was back). So if you could get me a guide, that would be appreciated." I said as both I and Seb disappeared and arrived in a small house that we would call home the next few days.

I didn't need sleep, but I did want to be alone and think of what to do from now on. I don't know if any other players arrived here or not, but the roots of Yggdrasil run around the entire planet, and with my connection with Yggdrasil I can feel almost everything in this world and I have felt no beings more powerful than me. There are a few that are on Ynas' level, but only one on this continent, and that being are to the north.
