Bella yawned in boredom for what she suspected was the hundredth time in the past two hours. Where in heaven's name was he driving to? He had been driving for the past two hours without stopping.
She wished she could ask him where they were headed, but she was scared he might turn the van around and take her right back to the security men she had been running from if he so much perceived her presence in the car. She couldn't trust him, especially not after hearing how harshly he had spoken to the driver earlier.
She looked at her wristwatch and groaned in distress when she saw that it was past seven already and the day was already getting dark. If it took him this long to get here, then it was going to take her almost twice as long to return to her house. That meant she would be getting home very late in the night and would miss seeing the movie with Joan.
She wondered what Joan was doing and really wished she could call her to tell her about her predicament. She had succeeded in ruining Joan's birthday because of her busybody attitude.
If only she had turned her face away and minded her business when she saw the guy grabbing his girlfriend's ass, she wouldn't have been in an unknown van, traveling to an unknown destination with a complete stranger.
"Great! Just great!" Dan yelled angrily, making Bella almost jump out of her skin. Why was he yelling all of a sudden? She wondered, but she didn't have to wonder for too long as the car suddenly sputtered and stopped.
"Don't you dare stop, don't you dare!" Dan commanded the car as he tried turning on the ignition again, but unfortunately, the car refused to start.
He hadn't realized the van was out of gas, and now he was stuck in the middle of nowhere. He had been headed for his cabin, which was located very far away from the city, and he still had a long way to go.
"Okay! I guess we just have to camp out here in the woods," Dan said aloud to himself, making Bella jerk up in surprise.
"No! I can't camp out here with you," She said, making Dan turn around in surprise.
"Who are you?" He asked in surprise when he saw someone opening the van door to get down. He quickly got out of his seat and walked around to meet her.
"Who are you? And how did you get in there?" He barked at her angrily.
"You don't have to raise your damn voice. I'm not deaf!" Bella returned angrily.
Because the day was dark already, he couldn't quite see her face, but he could tell from her voice that she was a young lady, a very rude and mannerless young lady at that.
Dan closed his eyes as he prayed for the patience to deal with this stubborn fan who had obviously snuck into his van to stalk him.
"You're sure you're not deaf? Can you tell me how the heck you managed to get into my van?" He asked again, trying to lower his voice.
"I only wanted to hitch a ride," She said in an apologetic tone, making him scowl at her, even though he was sure she couldn't see his face either.
"Hitch a ride? Does this look like a mode of public transport? How do you hitch a ride without the knowledge of the vehicle owner?" He barked at her.
"Are you one of those crazy new fans that go about stalking celebrities?" He asked irritably, making her laugh humorlessly.
"Fan? Celebrities? Oh please! Don't kid yourself. I have no idea who you are," Bella said as she tried to dim her eyes to see his face. Who did he think he was to think she would be crazy enough to stalk him?
"You don't know me?" He asked in disbelief.
"I have absolutely no idea who you are," Bella confirmed with a single nod.
Dan looked at her incredulously. How could she say she had no idea who he was? Everyone knew Dan Williams was an actor and a singer. She wasn't just a sneaky rude, and mannerless young lady, but she was also a very poor liar.
