Kristelle's Point of View (Present Day)
It's now lunch break and all students from different courses have an hour off of classes. It's different from any schools because most of them have different schedules, meaning different times of lunch breaks and stuff. While here at Vanderwaalt University, students can meet up with their friends who don't share the same class as them during the break.
Since this is the case, the cafeteria is huge, since it'll be occupied by hundreds of students. It's located inside the building so it's air-conditioned. Outside of the said cafeteria, different restaurants are built so students can have wider options in food and most importantly, don't eat the same shit twice.
Besides that huge ass cafeteria, Vanderwaalt also has plenty of 2 story houses for the frats and sororities. One of those sororities is ours, Kappa Phi.
I walked down the school grounds and got inside my favorite store in the whole campus, Starbucks. Who doesn't love coffee? Being in college, you'll soon realize that coffee is very important, the moment your professors started raining their requirements and school works on you. You basically live off of coffee. Coffee runs in your blood.
The strong smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted my nose as I opened the door. The comfortable ambiance put my mind and body into ease. The staff saw me come in and gestured me to take a seat by the windows. There, one of the staff took my order. I ordered an Iced Caffe Americano to go, and they put a platter of Sausage and Bacon Flatbread on my table, on the house, they said. Some of the customers on the line groaned when they saw me getting the V.I.P treatment while they wait on the long line.
I gave them a smirk and ate the food. It was heavenly. I'll make sure to drop a pretty good tip once I got my coffee. My order arrived shortly after. I looked at the staff's name, Sofia, and gave her a thousand bill for a tip.
I got out of the coffee shop and walked down the streets to go to the cafeteria. I'll be meeting my girls there. The staff just puts the bill on my account, and I'll pay for it by the end of the month.
It's kind of a tradition for Kappa Phi pledges to sit together at lunch. Ugh, I skipped breakfast again. Sadly, the bread isn't enough. I'm so fucking hungry that I feel angry because of it.
I got inside the air-conditioned building and walked in the halls. I skid to a stop when I saw a bunch of students, mostly females, blocking the hallways as they squeal with glee. You know the sounds of tires when the driver suddenly hit the breaks? Yeah, it is worse than that. It's so annoying that I want to stab myself multiple times and die a rather peaceful death.
What the hell is happening?
Furious, I shouted to all the people blocking my path.
"SO FUCKING LOUD! LET PEOPLE WALK THROUGH!" People are really testing my patience today. They all scrambled when they heard my voice and most of them bowed as they pass me. I stood there with my arms crossed, waiting for everyone to disperse. As I said, I hate crowds. They're disgusting. After the path is cleared, I walked on the halls again, making my way into the cafeteria.
I passed a lone guy on the sidelines but I couldn't care less, honestly. I would deck anyone who will keep me away from food any longer.
"Miss, wait!" A voice called out. I didn't know if it's referring to me or someone else but I shrugged it off. I felt someone hold me in the shoulder and my reflex acted up. I took hold of his hand, pushed the figure with my backside, and pulled his hand downwards. In a snap, he's sprawled in front of me on the ground.
"Ouch! What the hell was that for?!" He shouted at me. Am I hearing that right? Did someone just shout at ME? People shared the same reaction as I do, their gasps are enough proof. I looked at him with my brown orbs, full of curiosity.
Someone ran up to us, it was Joshua. He leaned down, helping the guy up.
Who is this guy?
My head snapped towards Joshua who looked worried about the mysterious guy for some reason. "Looks like you met the girl," Joshua said to the boy who struggles on his feet. Was my move too hard? Meh, don't really care.
"Joshua, who is he?" I asked him and glared at the other boy.
"Take a chill pill, babe. This is Kiefer, the new student. Mister hotshot, a model of MINT clothing." Hmm. A model? He must be the person the fake ass barbies are talking about.
"That explains it. There are tons of girls surrounding him earlier. They're blocking my path." I said with a sarcastic tone. I crossed my arms and looked at the guy thoughtfully. He looks familiar, I must've seen him in a magazine issue or something.
"Why babe? Are you jealous of those girls? Are you cheating on me?" Zhou replied as he fake cried in front of us. He's very childish, I don't even know why he's my friend. I gave him the finger and cussed him off. "Fuck you." Yes, not very ladylike. But again, I don't care. I'm never a lady.
"Oh! By the way, Kiefer, meet Kristelle." Joshua introduced us. The guy went into shock for a moment and then smiled at me as he extended his hand for a handshake but I just looked at his hand. Why would I shake his hand? Girls surrounded him earlier and who knows where and what type of things he touched earlier. Just thinking about it makes me want to barf.
"Your girlfriend?" Kiefer asked Joshua. Don't you dare make another joke Zhou, or I'll fucking tell you off. "Yep." He replied. Why this little shit.
"Get your facts straight, Joshua. Do I have to kick you out of this school? I'm going to make sure you're going to pay." I raised my tone as I tell him off. He looks like a puppy being scolded at, with his ears folding. But if he really was a dog, he ain't very cute.
"Sorry, babe!" He pleaded. I raised an eyebrow and scowled at him.
"Stop with the 'babe' shit! We're not even together!" He may be my best friend, but he does get into my nerves plenty of times a day. I walked out of there and proceeded my way into the canteen.
They must still be talking.
Before heading to the table, I went inside the women's room to freshen up a little. Making sure there isn't anyone inside with me. This thick layer of makeup irritates the hell out of my face but it's a needed necessity. If anyone knew about my real face, I'm fucked. I put a new layer of foundation and fixed everything else wrong in my make up.
After a few minutes, I'm done and walked back into the cafeteria, only to see the Kiefer guy from earlier. He's staring at me and I looked at him for a moment, and then ignored his presence. Why? Is he even worth my time? It's not like I know the guy or something.
"Hey there!" I shouted as I neared the Kappa girls' lunch table. It's reserved for us and no one can ever sit in here without our permission. "We missed you! Like, a lot! Come on bee, take a seat." She gestured me to sit beside her.
I gave her a sweet smile as I sit down, the one that you give to people to dazzle them but can mean another at the same time. "Of course I will, Yna. Do you think I'll decline that offer? Who would want to stand there and look like a complete idiot?" With that, I fixed my gaze on the guy that I locked eyes with just earlier. Just throwing a little shade.
"Oh shush. Even if you stand there doing nothing, we all know you're still pretty." She complimented me. I appreciate her sentiments but it's really not necessary. She's already in the sorority, she doesn't have to kiss my ass like this.
"Save the flattery. Anyway, let's use this time to catch up 'cause you guys know I have business with the other troop." I said as I bowed and sighed. A few seconds later, one of the girls poke me and the shoulder and I looked up, only to see my stupid ass friends. These dorks! I missed them so much!
"What's up, Queen Bee!" That loud booming voice is from non-other than Liam Chen, one of my squadmates. I've been working on a lone mission for a month and it's the first time I'll be seeing the gang. I stood up from my seat and gave a big grin to the man in front of me.
I smacked his arm and he laughed it off in return. "Shut up," I said.
"You know that won't work with him." Another voice rang. It's my best girl in the world, Isabel Perez-Fiasco. She's been with me through ups and downs and I could say that I'll take a bullet for her. Literally.
"Isa! I've missed you!" I shouted and gave her a bone-crashing hug. "I've missed you too, Queen Bee." She replied and squeezed me back. We pulled away at the same time and shared a laugh. It's kind of funny how we could do the same thing and think of the same thing at the same time.
"Oh stop with all the gay shit already. You're literally too gay for each other. Just come out to us when you both feel brave enough." Someone said a few feet from us. I looked over and realized it's another of my squadmates. Did they all come to the cafeteria at the same time? I didn't think we'll be meeting each other so soon, given that they might be hanging out on The Hive.
I head over to him and hugged him as well. "So what, Jun? Yeah, I'm boyish at times, and what's up with that? Even if I act like this, I'm still a woman you know." I said as I pulled away from our embrace. "There's a difference in being a tomboy girl and being a lesbian, you know that?" He replied and gave me a warm chuckle.
This guy, right here, is Jun Yamamoto. He's the other half of the dork duos. In which I'm referring to is Joshua Zhou. They're basically inseparable. They're like twins, sharing the same, single brain cell.
"Okay, enough with that. I missed you too, dumbo." I then ruffled his silk-like hair. It's fun being with everyone. "Some of us are absent though." He said as he restyled his hair with his hand. I can practically hear all his thirsty fangirls squealing with his simple act.
I sighed and rolled my eyes at his comment. "Those lazy people. It's only the first day and they're skipping classes already. Just wait and I'll kick them off." I joked and the rest of them laughed. It's a usual joke in our gang that I'm going to kick them out of the school just because I have the power to do so.
"But I didn't!" Someone else shouted, seeming to have heard our little conversation. Just the voice that I was hoping to hear.
It's him.
