Quill's face turned pink in embarrassment. "My record is truly shameful. It is unfortunate that I've primarily come across just ability users much more powerful than mine. Also, as a pure speed type ability user, I'm not quite good at fights."
Adrian looked at Quill curiously for a while then spoke. "I have a criticism of the way you fight. I'm not sure if you wish to hear it?"
"Go on ahead with it." Quill replied.
"You use your speed primarily as a defensive maneuver. Whenever you attack, your speed reduces dramatically, I'm guessing to reduce the recoil damage from impact, but it makes your fighting very unwieldy. However, your speed can also be used offensively. Impulse, or momentum, is a function of speed and mass, the faster you are, the more powerful your punches.
May be you should try to graze your opponents instead of attacking them head on by slowing, this allows you to transfer momentum during your attacks without suffering from much recoil damage." Adrian said with some thoughts. "You could even improve your attack by using a weapon like a dagger, like an assassin in rpg games."
Quill looked at Adrian with dumbfounded eyes. "You have a good eye for tactics!"
Adrian shook his head as he chuckled. "I've just been taking self defense classes lately. What I just said was simply applying the basics of what I learned."
"May be I should join self defense classes as well. They don't seem to teach this stuff at university." Quill replied. "Speaking of which, I'm getting awfully late for class. Thanks for the Nucleus Potions, and I don't need to tell you to not blow my cover."
Adrian nodded as he too left for school. When he arrived in school, he found another wave of rumblings.
"Have you heard? They tried to arrest Cody Briggs for murder, but his power exploded and he escaped. He is a fugitive now!"
Adrian heard that and was somewhat shocked. Was this a result of his testimony about the previous night?
As he was heading to his classroom, Cran walked over to Adrian. "Adrian, please follow me to the conference room."
Adrian looked surprised, but then quietly nodded and followed the student council representative.
In the conference room, the school principal, some members of the student council and some individuals with phoenix brooches were sitting.
"Mr. Miles, don't worry. These people are from the Reformation Division to formally record your testimony." The principal said.
Adrian nodded and sat down on the table as was indicated. He repeated the events of the past day, leaving out anything to do with Gray Ninja and answered the questions accordingly.
After that was done, one of the members of the Reformation Division in the room's eyes glowed. Adrian saw that and snorted.
"I believe I have given an honest testimony. Why is that person trying to use mental hypnotism on me without my consent?" Adrian stood up and asked angrily.
The person who tried to use his ability was stunned to see his ability fail, while the Principal and the student council looked towards the young man with serious vigilance. The atmosphere in the room immediately became tense.
The woman, sensing the hostility sent a mental impulse into the man, who used his ability just now, causing him to wince in pain.
"I apologize for the misdemeanour on the part of my new colleague just now." She said calmly, trying to pacify the room. "He is a new intern and hasn't yet completely understood when to and when not to use his ability. I shall make sure that doesn't happen again."
The principal saw the earnest seriousness of the woman and calmed down. Adrian took sat back down and continued to answer questions, but his explanations had instantly become more curt.
After half an hour, the group from the Reformation Division thanked the school representatives for their help and left the room.
When the three were leaving the school campus, the young intern who had tried using his ability finally could.not hold his curiosity any longer amd asked his question.
"How is it possible? How can a cripple resist my mental attack?" The young man grumbled in confusion.
"May be if you had read the documents before boldly attempting to use your ability you would have known better. Unfortunately for you, you were caught this time and I have to write this misdemeanour into your internship report." The lady said coldly.
"What do you mean?" The intern asked.
The third person who had been silently all along finally spoke. "He is a rare one, that brat. This isn't his first interaction with our Reformation Division. He is one of those ones. The ones we can't deal with."
"You mean...? But how is it possible? He is a cripple!" The intern replied with shock.
"Hehe, he is indeed immune to all Mental Attacks. You should have realized that from his testimony itself. Do you think Dmitry's Psychic stun is something a non ability user could neutralize in the matter of seconds? Dmitry was a Grade 7.5 ability user." The third man said mockingly.
The lady nodded. "Don't underestimate that boy. He may be without ability, but I noticed that his physique is well trained and strong. Against a pure mental ability user, it isn't clear who would come out on top."
Meanwhile, in the conference room, after the three had left, Adrian turned towards the principal. His eyes filled with fury.
"Principal, no matter the targetting on me by students, I don't complain about the matter. But this isn't the first time the Reformation Division has tried to use a mental attack on me without my consent. Is the school going to allow this constant misuse of authority?" Adrian asked with seriousness that few had seen him display.
The one who was most shocked by this were the student council members. They were surprised to see Adrian unaffected by the mental attack, but his anger as well as what he said now surprised them more.
The principal sighed. "Adrian, you know I am as helpless in this matter as you are. Reformation Department lost three people and a student of our school is involved in the matter. It isn't expedient dor me to chastise them right now. Besides... mental attacks don't affect you anyway."
Adrian calmed down and left the conference room. Meanwhile, the student council looked at the principal in shock, especially Trix, whose ability was illusions based on mental attacks.
"Principal, is what you just said true? Adrian is immune to mental attacks?" Lear asked in surprise.
The principal nodded with a serious look. "Yes. He was attacked several times by powerful mental ability users and was determined to be immune."
"If so, isn't that essentially an ability? Why is he considered an unawakened?" Trix asked in puzzlement.
The principal shook his head. "Adrian displays no sign of the the special energy that ability users depict when they awaken. All the hypothesis points to Adrian's mind just bring extremely strong and resistant to mental attacks because of his high willpower."
