The next morning, Anne walked into Carina's bedroom as she was in the middle of getting dressed.
"Miss? Are you going somewhere?" Anne asked, confused.
Carina grinned. "I'm having breakfast in the dining room today, Anne."
Anne froze, shocked.
Carina only carried on with putting her dress on, making sure to check she looked presentable in the mirror as well.
When she first took a look at her reflection, she had been a bit surprised, as Carina was a beautiful girl. She had a miserable life, but seemed to be blessed with beauty. Her long, flowing hair complimented her smooth skin perfectly, and she had full, plump lips that she knew most plastic surgeons could only dream of creating.
She had never been much of a looker in her past life, so she had been quite happy with the change.
"Anne." Carina snapped, jolting Anne out of her daze. "We're going to the dining room."
Anne followed after Carina with hurried steps as she left her room.
Carina hadn't set foot outside of her bedroom in so long, and even though she barely recognised the hallways she traversed, she still remembered her way around enough to guide her to the dining room.
Just as they stepped up to the dining room doors, Carina took in a deep breath.
"M-Miss, are you sure we should-"
Before Anne could say another word, Carina pushed the doors open with enough force that it resounded with a bang as it opened, revealing the faces of the Rayburn family inside.
Carina smiled bitterly to herself as she stepped through, as if she was a warrior preparing to enter a battlefield.
