Chereads / To Hell And Back | Granevere / Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty Seven

Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty Seven

I wanna write smut but I know some of y'all are still kids so

¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Also, the new hero Masha is BROKE. I love her but she's very hard to master despite her HP wouldn't stop draining unless you don't stop farming (yep I'm a complete nub at her).

I've been on a lose streak with Granger lately so I'm switching my main to Nana even though she doesn't really get too many kills (she gets the job done though).

"Oh, what do you know about being married, Death Chanter? Were you married before then?" Guinevere said, giggling irresistibly with a smirk as she began circling around him, seducing him towards the direction of the fountain.

Granger looked unaffected by her seduction, but he followed her anyways. In the master quarters' window, Lady Jane spectated in the shadows. She admits she envies their young love, but Guinevere shouldn't be with a demon hunter, nor should she be carrying his baby. Once he's deployed back in action, he'll never be able to see their child grow.

Jane was the same age as Guinevere when she fell for a soldier of the Imperial Army. They never had a baby together but he ran out of luck and died during the War, breaking their golden promise that he would come back to her, pursuing her goals to have a family with.

Jane still misses the soldier until now, even when her heart already belongs to another.

Jane has nothing say against their relationship, but to prevent history from repeating itself, she must break the two apart. It was as clear as day Granger was willing to sacrifice himself for her, which was a disadvantage. But he was among the strongest men of the Monastery. He was also a highly skilled marksman, able to hit near targets with a swift aim.

He wasn't an assassin but his damage was surprisingly critical, making it harder to find a suitable opponent for him.

"Oh, Granger!" Guinevere sang melodiously as she peaked in every nearby bush around the clearing. She had managed to have him join her into a game of Tag. "Come out, come out wherever you are!"

"I'm here." His voice was so close to her ear that Guinevere didn't hesitate to spin around and tag him. Unluckily he was cunning and had escaped. He chuckled and Guinevere was unable to trace it.

"Take it easy with me, please." She pleaded mercifully. "It's not easy being preg- Ah!"

Yelping, she jumped away from her spot when she felt his fingers electrocuted her waists. "Do you want to kill the baby or something?!" Guinevere snapped.

"Her mother is strong, so she would be as well." Granger commented.

Guinevere scoffed. "Assuming the baby's gender already?"

"I didn't mean it."

"You better not or else."

"Or else what?"

Granger now appeared before her and Guinevere grabbed him by his red ribbon so he wouldn't be able to escape. "Tag, Granger." Guinevere bellowed wickedly.

Granger placed his hand on her shoulder. "You're It now."

"No, you are!" She patted his chest with her other arm.

"You are."

"You are!"

Bursting into laughter, Guinevere felt her stomach hurting, forcing her laughs to turn into hissing. "Oh, dear. The baby doesn't want us to be so loud."

"Where's the fun in that?" Granger complained, receiving a glare from Guinevere.

"Excuse me, my Lady." One of Guinevere's handmaidens, Gloria, appeared out of nowhere. Granger flatly frowned and stepped back just as he was about to pull her into him.

Guinevere gasped. She could jump in glee for she had missed her favorite handmaiden. "Gloria, it's so good to see you again!" Guinevere greeted as she pulled the small old woman into a hug.

That was my hug, Granger childishly thought. He looked away the second he realized he had been pouting at them.

"I could say the same to you, milady. Thank the heavens you are alive and well, and blessed with a babe I hear. Congratulations! I only came here to deliver a letter which just arrived."

"Thank you, Gloria." Guinevere said with a thankful smile. She began reading the external contents of the letter.

"It's actually for your lover, dearie, sent from the Monastery of Light."

Hearing the mention of the Monastery, Granger walked over. Guinevere apologized being the one to open the letter instead of him, but he shook it off and let her continue her read.

Gloria excused herself, politely making her hastened leave.

"The Empire wants you back in action," Guinevere read in monotone. "They also expect you to be back at the Monastery before tomorrow evening."

Granger raised his brows, needing more information. "For a solo mission?"

"It's rather a squad mission and Alucard is in it as well..." Unable to continue, Guinevere gave him the letter to let himself read it. She examined his roaming eyes for his whole time of being silent. "You're going, aren't you?"

He slowly folded the paper, and began tearing it into pieces. Guinevere was in disbelief. "Granger..."

"Alucard can take it all by himself. The man's a legend." He assured with a soft expression.

"What would the Empire do if you decline?"

"Nothing. This'll be my first time having a mission dismissal so they'll let me off."

"Are you sure?" Guinevere had to make sure.

He nodded, certainly. "Trust me, Gwen. I'll be fine. I won't let them ruin your special day and have me without it."

Guinevere pushed his infernal coat aside and find her way to hug him without feeling the spikes. "Thank you." She could cry of tears of joy for he chose to stay with.

Granger unzipped his jacket off, letting it fall to ground to tighten the hug. He doesn't care if his mummified body was exposed. Nothing mattered at the moment except for her bodily warmth.

"Is there really no chance for you to quit?" Guinevere weakly asked, still in his arms.

"You know what the consequences would be. And I can't let all of that happen. I've let you into my dangerous life, but I'm willing to do everything to keep you in it for as long as I live."

"I don't want the child to be fatherless as well, Granger." Guinevere weakly said in a pessimistic frown. "Promise me you will never let that happen?"

He was shaking his head. "I promise. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, Gwen."

Lady Jane smiled at how very committed he was to her daughter. He'd be a great father, Jane thought so, only if his foot wasn't already hanging between life and death.

After shutting the curtains, Jane climbed downstairs to the foyer to begin organising the decorations.

Alucard charged a heavy blow towards the twisted witch. "Harith! Need a little help here."

Harith turned to his call and arrived in front of Alucard in a blink, enblazing a cross across the clearing, slowing down time. The Leonin Elf was able to draw the enemies back as Alucard retreated to their base to recharge.

"Wait for me." Alucard commanded before he disappeared.

I think I can handle this all by myself, Harith confidently thought. Just as he was about to kill a wave of mobilized enemy minions, the witch from before appears again, with her whole squad. Harith was slain in no time. The ambush was so quick he never saw it coming.

"Harith!" Alucard called out once he's back defending mid lane. "Harith, where are you, pal?"

"Looking for your cat?!" A deranged Vexana yelled. She comes out of the jungle, showing Alucard one horrifying sight. Harith's ghost attacked for the blonde Hunter but luckily he jumped away from the collision of his two powerful gushes of his magic.

"Ha-Urgh!" Alucard landed on the ground unready. Because of this, he was unable to dodge Selena's Abyssal Arrow. Paralyzed, Alucard watched himself being torn to pieces by the Abyssal Witch before everything blacked out.

"Tell me. How did the invincible Alucard became to a bunch of Abyss sacrifices?" The Grandmaster calmly asked behind his grand table.

Harith was fidgeting in his chair as he shot a questionable look at Alucard as well.

"We didn't have a Marksman," without looking straight, Alucard answered. "It was two versus three. The chances of winning were low despite how many lanes I've cleared up."

The man massaged his forehead as he heaved out a slow heavy sigh. "I never thought I would say this but Granger hasn't been himself ever since he fell for Lady Guinevere."

"Love can really change someone into a better person." Harith commented.

"Better?" The Grandmaster laughed mockingly.

"It has made him into the worst better person you can imagine. As a servant of the Monastery, he should prioritize his duty to the Empire. Or does he really think he would have a future with her? She's a member of the most powerful families of magic. She'll forget him once she's done with him in no time. And what does he received in return? Deep, agonizing heartbreak."

"Guinevere isn't that type of girl." Alucard defended, scowling.

"Don't tell me you've fallen for her as well." He smirked.

Alucard shook the thought of throwing a furniture to him right away. "Look, Grandmaster. All I'm saying is that Guinevere is a nice person. If Granger really is needed here in the Monastery, then let me handle it. I'll have him home in no time."

"Since it is so, I'll give you the whole night. If you don't return before sunrise, expect yourselves to be arrested for harsh punishment."

The new chapters are kinda unedited so sorry
