Chapter 6 - 6: Prison for Children

I frown at the men and walk toward the big, crumbling building in front of me. We walk in and I nearly choke. Rows of prison cells filled with kids at least 6 years old flood the building. Kids who look starved and beaten. I keep quiet. And cooperate. So this is a prison filled with children. A prison for children. I'm shoved into a cell and the door closes. At least my wrist and ankles are free. I stand up. I'm still bare foot. I wrap my fingers around the cold metal. What do I plan to do in this situation. My wing feels broken and I'm sore all over. Ok. Ok, stay calm, you're gonna get out of here, Tay. I look up. What the hell..? A window? On the roof? I spread my wings painfully, and launch myself at the window. It shatters and I fall into the roof of the building. Ow. Two guards turn towards me. Oh cmon.

"Give me a break!" I mutter. I throw myself off the roof, thrusting my wings outwards. I start to fall.

"Hey!"

I turn.

"Cmon!" I yell. "Work with me, wings!" I scream. I start falling. "Damnit! Do something!" I demand. I flap my wings hard, until I'm finally steadied. I clench my jaw, and start making my way home. I'm to tired and my head hurts. I fall in a heap of unconsciousness.
