Chapter 24 - hospital life

It's not Shadow's first time being hospitalized, but it's the first in a long time. His dad didn't like taking him to the hospital, and Shadow didn't have that much of a reason to go. Malum is a pathologist, so whenever Shadow got sick or injured, he could be taken care of at home. The time he was hospitalized was when he was a kid, he passed out in class and had to be rushed to the hospital; he wasn't there for long, only 2 or 3 days.

Being hospitalized was a bit difficult. Shadow doesn't exactly like visitors, yet Doctors and Nurses are constantly coming in to ask him questions, take his vitals, adjust the IV, and replacing some things or change his bandages. The only other visitor he got was Luna, not even his own parents came to see him, and Eclipse is afraid of him so Shadow doesn't blame her for not checking on him. Only Luna went out of her way to visit him after school.

Later that night, Luna's dad had a night shift, again, so he took her with him to the hospital, so Luna used the chance to visit Shadow again while her dad is examining other patients.

"Shadow," Luna called out, entering the dim hospital room but noticed that he wasn't on the bed. She panicked a little, walking into the room to see Shadow sitting on the sofa, staring at the night sky. Luna calmed down, sighing in relief, and walked closer to him.

"Shadow, are you okay?" Luna asked. Shadow didn't respond; he continued staring out of the window, focused on something. Luna decided to take a look out the window to see what Shadow was focused on, and saw the full moon he was looking at. She had to admit, the moon was pretty tonight, however, it was strange that Shadow was concentrated on it.

"Do you want me to turn on the lights?" Luna asked. The room was very dark, the only source of light being from the moon and stars.

"No..." Shadow muttered.

"Okay... Is there anything you need?" she asked again. Shadow slowly turned around, facing Luna.

"Could you... change my bandages?" He softly asked. Luna was hesitant. She's not sure if she's allowed to do that.

"I'll get a nurse," Luna said, turning around. Before she could even take a step, Shadow grabbed her wrist, tightly, preventing her from walking away.

"Iie... I want you to do it..." Shadow told her with puppy dog eyes.

"I... I don't think I'm allowed to do that," Luna answered. She didn't want to say no to that face, but she also didn't want to break any hospital rules.

"Oh, why not?" Shadow's facial expression changed, suddenly. He went from hopeless to skeptical.

"Why not?" He scowled, which was still creepy.

"Hospital rules..." Luna explained, hesitant. She was freaked out by Shadow's sudden change in emotions.

"hmph... I see... That must be why Ronnie likes you," He said, as if he was, trying to provoke someone.

"Huh? No, Shadow I-"

"Is it true? That every bad boy needs a good girl?" Shadow asked, interrupting her from talking. Luna looked at him, a little frightened.

"I don't know..." Luna muttered. She knew Shadow was either trying to provoke her, to make her feel bad or was jealous of Ronnie. Either way, she didn't like it. All of a sudden, Shadow stood up and grabbed Luna's other wrist.

"Shadow what are you-" Luna yelped, unable to finish her question. Shadow roughly pinned her to the wall, staring down at her like helpless prey.

"Why then...?" He whispered.

"W-what...?" Luna softly replied, scared.

"Why does Ronnie like you so much?" He asked her in frustration. Luna didn't even know, so why is Shadow asking her that?

"Shadow... How many times have I told you? I don't like him that way..." Luna choked out, looking down.

"How many times have I told you that?" She muttered, a bit irritated.

"Then prove it..." Shadow tightened his grip on Luna.

"Huh....?"

"Prove to me, that you don't like Ronnie," he ordered. Luna looked at him, getting annoyed.

"Haven't I already made it clear? Not only have I told you that I don't like Ronnie: I visit you, when I can, I ask if you need anything, I've taken care of you, made you sure ate enough, or got enough sleep. What else do I have to prove? What else do you want me to do, Shadow?" Luna said, frustrated. Shadow pushed her into the wall some more, getting closer and staring Luna in her cherry-red eyes.

"Kiss me..."

"Eh...?" Luna was a bit surprised. Shadow already stole her first kiss, now he wants her to kiss him? Luna wasn't even sure if she could just kiss him.

"I want you to kiss me, Luna..." He said, staring into her ruby eyes. Luna stared back into his blood-red eyes, then closed her eyes and touched his cracked lips with her smooth pink lips. Shadow was a bit taken back. He didn't expect Luna to just kiss him, he thought he was going to kiss her instead. Either way, he liked it. Shadow closed his eyes, gently kissing her back, unlike last time, where it was rough. He pulled away from her lips, dragging her back to the sofa, making it so Luna would be sitting on his lap.

"Shadow..." Luna breathed out, feeling hazy. Shadow let go of Luna's wrist and instead put a hand behind her head. He pushed her closer to him and recaptured her lips for another kiss. Luna gasped a little and Shadow took that opportunity to slip his tongue into her mouth.

"Ah..." she moaned into the kiss. Luna didn't know how to describe it; it felt good but made her mind foggy. Shadow was enjoying himself; there's something about Luna that's so... addicting. He suddenly began to breathe heavily, sweating, he undid a few buttons on the black pajama shirt the hospital gave him.

(Shadow...?) Luna pulled away; Well, tried. Shadow still had his firm hold on Luna. (For a skinny guy he's pretty strong) When Shadow did pull away, he began kissing her neck. Luna yelped, surprised. Her neck was very soft, and sensitive, making her weak to his touch. Shadow loved the cute little yelps Luna made whenever he slightly touched her neck. It made him and Luna blush, hard. He giggled a little, taking Luna by surprise.

"Shadow... are you... okay?" Luna asked, trying not to yelp.

"I... I don't know..." Shadow answered, confused.

"Do you need anything?" Shadow exhaled, looking at Luna with clouded eyes.

"Th... Thirsty..." He softly moaned. Luna tried to move, but Shadow held onto her.

"Iie... Stay..." He breathed out.

"B-but I thought you were thirsty," She stuttered.

"I am... for you..." Shadow smirked. Luna tensed up, nervous.

"Shadow you're acting weird. Should I get a doctor?"

"No, I don't need one. I need you..." He whispered in her ear.

"W-what do you mean?" Luna then felt Shadow lick down her neck, to her shoulder. She cried out in pain, feeling something sharp pierce into her skin. Shadow bit her; It didn't burn throughout her veins like the other two times. The bite stung, that was it, there was no burning sensation; in fact. it felt euphoric. Perhaps Luna finally got used to vampire bites. She relaxed, blushing as she enjoyed the feeling of Shadow drinking her blood. When Shadow regained his awareness, he quickly took his fangs out of Luna's shoulder panicking.

"O-oh shi- L-luna I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine," Luna told him.

"B-but I... I... b-bit you..." He frantically stuttered. His whole body was shaking in panic; he felt extremely guilty for biting Luna so suddenly.

"Hey..." Luna pulled back a little, staring into his blood-red eyes, and touched his cheek.

"It's okay, Shadow. You didn't hurt me," Luna reassured in a soft voice. Shadow stared back at her, tears forming in his eyes.

"I... I don't get it... Why...? Why are you so nice to me?" Shadow looked down, trying not to cry.

"Because you deserved to be treated with kindness and respect. Everyone does," Luna smiled at him. Shadow softly smiled back at her, confused.

Meanwhile.

"I have really bad headaches. Whenever I get drunk, I wake up feeling terrible," a patient complained.

"That's called a hangover, it happens to everyone," Gerhardt told her.

"Can you give me something for it?" she asked.

"You mean advice?" He asked, sarcastically.

"I don't know, you're the doctor here,"

"Tylenol, water, green tea, coffee, and salmon can help with the hangover; or, you could stop drinking so much," Gerhardt adjusted his glasses, annoyed. Why does his boss torture him like this? (Maybe I can get Luna to do this by paying her, she always wanted to a doctor and this would be perfect practice for her!) He thought.
