'You're too late'. I think, watching my bodyguard slowly turn visible and ran towards me. The man with the knife ran faster, though.
Was he slowly turning or was I seeing everything happen in slow motion?
In the corner of my eye, I saw Adrian as he began to run but his bodyguard wrapped his arms around him and pulled him to the ground. My legs finally gave out beneath me as my screaming head finally gave in. I dropped to the floor, and threw my hands over my head and kept my head down.
I heard more feet, beginning to run in my direction.
I heard someone slam onto the ground as the sound of metal bounced around.
I felt an arm on my back, and then someone quickly scooped me up into their lap.
"You okay?" I heard Adrian say. He lifted up my head by my chin and began fussing over me, and tried to comfort me.
I couldn't understand why, I'm not scared. I wasn't scared.
My eyes found their way to the guy with the knife, Irwin was on top of him. Irwin forced the man's arm behind his back, not holding back on the giving him pain. As I looked closer I realised it was a natural born demon, not a guilty person being punished for their crimes. Those demons were supposed to love me. I'm supplying them with another king, someone to rule over, they loved me for that.
The knife had skidded and landed it mere centimeters away from me, which made me realise the demon was also roughly a foot away from me.
"I'm fine." I whispered, as to not break any rules abo.
Adrian tightened his grip on me as he stood. He gently put me down, before grabbing my hand and stalking off like a grumpy child. I followed behind, grateful I wore trainers instead of traditional heels. Our two bodyguards became six as we walked back as fast as possibly until I heard shouting behind us.
I stopped Adrian to see Irwin and Gerwin running up to us. Gerwin grabbed my arm, forcefully, at the same time Adrian let go of my hand as Gerwin ushered me until I couldn't see Adrian anymore as a swarm of bodyguards covered me like a herd of Bison protecting the weak.
We walked at a fast pace, almost running but not quite. I believe they were trying to hide me and Adrian, I looked back for a second and still couldn't see him. Gerwin yanked my hand roughly, and I tried to swear but he shushed me.
"Stop looking for him. Just continue walking, we're almost there." I knew better then to walk back, or at all.
Gerwin was in hell. He's a torturer. I'm a mere mortal, he could kill me if he pleased. I strongly doubted it would take a toil on his normal life if he did the job well enough, and he had some good muscles on him. It'd be like picking a plum from a crate if he killed me.
His muscles weren't over the top, it looks like he eats steak with a salad every meal and ice cream for dessert (he doesn't eat at all, but if he did, I feel like this would be his meal) and works at twice a week. Irwin was almost packed some muscle, but he was clearly weaker than Gerwin. I imagine this is what they looked like when they died, if so it made sense for the one who looked after the children to have less muscles, to make them feel safer as he didn't look strong enough to hurt them, but enough to defend them. Those kids. Those kids were tricked and had their lives torn away, for a sick game.
"Quickly." Gerwin once again ushered me forward, and we watched the boarded doors open. A wall of even more bodyguards protected us, me. I've never seen so many people open the gigantic forty five foot tall door at such a fast pace in the whole two week I've been here.
I heard yelling, and before the door were even big enough to fit more than one person in Gerwin shoved me in. Before I even stopped stumbling he grabbed my hand again and we were running upstairs, we took a turn to the right, the opposite my way to the room but I still didn't speak.
He shoved me, knocking me to my knees, into a room I'd never seen before and shut it behind me. I spun on my knees and looked on in bewilderment at the door he just shut. He opened it again and whispered;
"Stay here." He threw me a key, and quickly spoke again. "There's a gun under some padding three spaces from back left, and to the right by two. Lock up when I leave. Shoot anyone who isn't Irwin, Adrian or myself. Got it?" He shut the door again and swiftly stood.
I shoved the key into the door, locking it tightly. I pulled down the wooden plank, ignoring out outdated but effective their takticks were for intruders, and slid the chains into place. All fifteen. I then grabbed a wooden chair from the side of the room and shoved it under the handle.
As my eyes glanced over the door, double checking everything was locked, before I turned and took in the room I was now quarantined in for an unknown amount of time.
Everything was white. The soft padded floor, the soft padded walls, even the soft padded ceiling.
I felt my breath pick up, as I heard an eerie ringing in my ears. Surely I couldn't be in here long. All they had to do was board up the doors, get some extra security, what else could be important?
Strolling to the padding Gerwin said had the gun, I thought of ways to entertain myself. My first thought was shooting the padding until it made a smiley face. I counted the squared tiles until I got the right one, forcing my nails underneath and yanked it up as best as I could. As I pulled the gun up, my first thought was that it was an AR-15 but as I looked closer I saw it has a heavier form, and probably a slower form on fire. I'm certain it's a M16. 30 rounds, same as the AR-15. I'm only able to tell the difference because my boss continuously talked about his favourite guns and showed pictures to all the women in the office, which wasn't many, in an attempt to seduce them. I think? Who knows, my interest in men shrinks every time he opens his disgusting mouth.
I doubted I'd be in that room long, not long enough to use that gun at least.
Of course, there was no a pile of dead bodies in the corner that I have to drag in, and I feel like I've been awake from a whole week.
