Chapter 1 - 1-The One Where I Find Out

It wasn't difficult to guess I was pregnant. I woke up throwing up, with a 2 month belly, a fever and just a bit irritated.

"God fuck it all!" I groaned in my small apartment bathroom. "I really hope I'm just pregnant and not fat."

How did this happen? I have no clue. But it's currently four am, I was half through my third redraft of my presentation to speed up time for when my sexist boss, Kai, says it isn't good enough as his cheap way to distract me from doing the work I need to do to get a promotion.

Either way. I'm one step ahead of him, and two inches taller. The size of his dick that he sent me a picture of when I first joined the company.

I felt the house creak in despair as the party from the frat guys upstairs sounded like it was starting up again. I decided this was a great time to head over to the drug store, so I went back over to my bedroom to grab a bra to wear. As I grabbed the bra I realised I was naked, and at that moment I also remembered about the man in my bed from last night.

"Sir." I said, shaking him slightly as he laid unmoved from under the bed. He smelt kind of bad, but I don't think he'll wake up for a while. I left a sticky note on his forehead in case he did wake up.

The rain felt like lava, as though the world was ending. It felt what I imagine acid rain would feel like but we don't get that around here. If this was the sign the world was ending, thank the lord. I don't want anyone to see me with a stomach that isn't flat, they could demote me even though it has nothing to do with my job.

When I caught site of the bright pink neon sign, I picked up my pace, pulling the hood further down my forehead with my head down to avoid the rain that got heavier as I ran. I forced myself to not slip and embraces myself as I ran into the drug store, drenched.

Nobody greeted me, as I walked into the back of the store, having memorised where the test were from countless other nights like this.

I'm sure I recognised the girl as the same person always here when I buy a pregnancy test, she gave me a pity smile with sad eyes.

"Still no luck?" She said sadly. Oh. That explains the pity smile.

"I'd call it pretty lucky." I smiled back. I added her a fiver, grinning at her confused expression before slowly coming to the conclusion I am a whore, probably thinking I'm some kind of prostitute.

Wendy, or so her name tag read, gave me my change, mumbling something probably rude under her breathe.

I ignored her and rushed back home, acid rain making me feel like I was about foam at the mouth from the pain.

As I entered my crappy old apartment and noticed a terrible smell that I originally thought was me but now the smell was a lot stronger than before. It reeked of death, forcing me to hold back a gag as I made my way to my room.

"Please do not be dead. Please don't be dead" I whispered, whipping open my door with enough force to kill a thousand men.

Inside my room stood three men. Their skin as the red as the blood I've dreamed oozing out of my bosses mouth when I punch him for once again being a sexist prick. One stood taller tan the rest, staring me down with piercing red as as the other two slowly tried to convert into a human state. The taller one, I mentally named Derek, held up a hand signalling the two men behind him to stop.

I peered around the tallest, seeing the two holding the man I left in my bed.

"Oh dear. Is he dead?" I asked, pleasantly surprised. I don't know why I wasn't scared, it never concerned me before why I never got scared easily but I feel like this should scared me more than it is.

"Yes, Thallia. He is. Are you ok?" The tallest asked, and the two resumed stuffing his body into a black bin bag.

"My name's Dabria."

"Angel Of Death"

"Da iwan!" I sarcastically say in Welsh.

"My apologise, love. This man," He gestured to the dead man, "impregnated you with a child. It killed him, but he served his purpose and was happy to do so. He is considered lucky for being allowed to do so."

"How do you know I'm pregnant? I was about to take the test now."

He smiled. I tilted my head in confusion, my curly ginger hair dropping to my right. His eyes seemed to glimmer despite my room being pitch black. His red skin confused me, as I never felt unsettled. Was he the devil? If so, why's he here? Why aren't I scared? My mind went black for a couple seconds. What's for breakfast?

I wandered out of my room to the kitchen, and I could hear the three men muttering behind me. Derek then told them to put the dead man outside and I felt him walk towards the kitchen. Towards me.

I grabbed some cereal from above the fridge, poured it into a bowl and felt the need to add hot sauce.

I hate hot sauce.

I turned around from my seat to grab some that I last picked up from a party thinking it was ketchup. As I stood, I realised Derek was standing in my way. He also had my hot sauce.

I smiled lightly and grabbed it.

"Diolch."

"No problem?" Derek questioned. "Stop calling me Derek!" Derek slightly raised his voice.

He huffed again.

"I'm not, Derek" He groaned.

"My names is Adrian." Derek growled. I poured two, three, four blobs of hot sauce on my Weetabix.

"And I'm Debria." He shook his head.

"You didn't use to be. I used to call you Thallia. It means 'The Death'."

"Close to mine. I see how you could be confused." I chugged the cereal, the hot sauce barely burning me. Felt like milk.

Milk.

That's what I forgot to pour in my cereal.

I looked at my bowl and frowned. How much is a puppy?

I hate dogs.

But I kind of want a puppy.

"Hey! Stay focused." Derek.. Adrian? Clicked his fingers, separating my eyes from my bowl. What was I thinking about again? "Thallia!" I looked up at him.

"Debria. I know it's a bad name but you could at least use it."

"I always knew I would hate you being pregnant. You sucked at focusing without it." Adrian said to himself.

"You know me? I've never been bad at faces, but I definitely don't remember you. Or your hitmen."

"Dabria. This is your tenth life with me. I'm your husband"

Wait. Aren't you supposed to call the police when someone breaks into your house?

"Derek, should I call the police on you?"

"Probably too late for that."
