Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

(After Dante's sudden departure, Eden finally awakes and begins to get dressed. As she puts on her coat and begins to tie her boots, Lenneth walks into her room.)

Lenneth: Leaving so soon?

Eden: Well of course. I do not wish to stay here any longer, nor do I wish to speak with you.

(As Eden says this, she makes her way to the door, but Lenneth blocks it.)

Eden: Get out of my way, mother. Much like you, I have business I must attend to.

Lenneth: We haven't seen each other in years and this is all I get? You won't even tell me what happened at the temple.

Eden: If you wanted to know so badly, then maybe you shouldn't send someone else to do your dirty work.

Lenneth: Dante didn't risk his life for me, he did it for you. I told him that I had suspicions-

(Eden cuts her off by getting into Lenneth's face.)

Eden: Your suspicions nearly killed us! Like I told you years ago, I want nothing to do with this war against Amatsu or whatever those sick people call themselves.

Lenneth: How odd? I never knew my strong-willed daughter to be such a brat.

Eden: Do not patronize me, mother.

Lenneth: I don't think your involvement is dependent on whether you want to be in it or not. They chose to follow you, so they must have a reason. Aren't you at least curious as to why?

Eden: Are you not hearing me, mother?!? I don't care. If anyone from that pathetic group dares tempt me again, I will lay waste to them and everything else in my way. So long, mother.

(As Eden says this, she walks pass Lenneth as she exits the room, but immediately walks into Kitara.)

Eden: Oh...It is you again, witch.

Kitara: After what I just did to save both of your lives, this is the wrong time to pick a fight with me.

Eden: You're right...My apologies. I am grateful to have received your aid. I'm in your debt, Kitara.

Kitara: You're welcome.

(After hearing this, Eden takes a moment.)

Eden: How is he?

Kitara: Dante is fine. He awoke days before you did. He's probably somewhere around here.

Lenneth: I'm afraid not. He just left a few moments ago.

Kitara: What? Where to?

Lenneth: Lexington City.

Kitara: Why didn't he tell me?

Lenneth: Because he knew that you needed some more time to rest up and regain your magic. He knows that it took a lot out of you to save his life so please do not be upset with him.

Kitara: He's right, I'm nowhere near one hundred percent. I guess I'll join him when I can.

Eden: Well since I know that Dante is fine, I'll be on my way then.

(As Eden is walking, she feels a strong force coming from a room down the hall. She approaches the door and decides to enter only to see Marcy doing magic.)

Eden: And just who might you be little one?

Kitara: Her name is Marcy and she's my apprentice.

Eden: Just how does someone so young can such a strong magical force emanate from them.

Marcy: Its because I'm a Kitsune.

Eden: Nonsense! Last I heard, there weren't any more of you left.

Marcy: Well if that story is true, then I'm the last one.

Eden: I must admit, I am very interested to see how you mature, Marcy. And thank you for your effort in saving my life. I do not take that lightly. I am in your debt. Farewell.

Kitara: Where will you go now, Eden?

Eden: I still have a lot of business to take care of and a lot of catching up to do since being out of action. Do not worry your pretty little head witch, you haven't seen the last of me yet.

Kitara: Call me a witch again with anything other than less than a gracious tone and I'll set your hair on fire just for fun.

(As Kitara says this, Eden smiles back and bows.)

Eden: One of these days we'll cross blows and I for one cannot wait. Until then, try not to die. You can at least do that, can you?

Kitara: Of course I can.

Eden: Good.

(As Eden says this, she leaves. Over in the Lockheart Kingdom, Queen Kate is in her laboratory underneath the Royal Palace. While there, she's in search of a book when her lab assistant walks up with the book in hand.)

Alexia: Is this what you're looking for, my Queen?

Kate: I thought I've told you, Alexia. Please call me Kate. No need for formalities, you are a friend.

Alexia: That is such high praise coming from you. You honor me, Lady Kate.

Kate: Yes well I must admit that you've managed to bring back the one thing that I've been missing for quite some time.

Alexia: And what is that?

Kate: Consistency. Recently as of late, with the Void incident in Nanbu, I feel like there is something on the horizon, but I can't seem to figure out what.

Alexia: Do you suspect that the book will have an answer?

Kate: No I do not. The reason I need this book because it holds a certain spell I think might come in handy for later.

Alexia: I see. If I may, are you planning something?

Kate: No. Just taking precautions. There was a time when I knew everything that was taking place throughout the land. Nothing happened unless I allowed it, given back then I was young and much more ruthless. I cared little for the rules and laws of Ataria.

Alexia: Ataria? As in the Land of Ataria? The Continent of Mages? Is that where you're originally from, Lady Kate?

Kate: Yes I was, but that is a tale for another time. Don't worry though, I'll share it with you in due time. Now then, I have some work to do. You are free to enjoy the day, Alexia.

Alexia: I kindly appreciate the gesture, but I rather stay here and learn more from you, your highness. If it's okay with you, of course?

Kate: I see. Is that what you want?

Alexia: It is.

Kate: Very well then. Grab those books on the thirteenth shelf. If you wish to stay, we have a lot of work to do.

Alexia: Yes, Lady Kate. Let's get to work.

(As Kate and Alexia gather spell books, Dante sits on top of Yatagarasu as they fly through the air to Lexington City. As this happens, Lenneth's voice appears in his head.)

Lenneth: Dante...Can you hear me?

Dante: I can. What is it? Is this Kitara's magic?

Lenneth: No, it is the magic of Marcy. I wanted to inform you that there will a soiree tonight at LaRouge's Manor. Once you arrive there, Yatagarasu will show you to your attire for the night.

Dante: What? How do-

Lenneth: I know about your bond with the Yatagarasu? I was the last person before you to bond with him. Bonded to him, I can sense with a new bearer is on the rise. When you completed your bond, he told me.

Dante: What do you mean that? You're saying he can talk?

Lenneth: You haven't spoken to him yet? I see you still have a lot to learn Dante. Good luck with your travels.

(As Lenneth says, Marcy severs her magic connection.)

Dante: Is it true, Yatagarasu?

(As Dante asks this, Yatagarasu caws, but suddenly Dante begins to hear his voice telepathically saying "Indeed it is.")

Dante: Tell me. Do you have a name? I feel just calling you Yatagarasu could be quite redundant if you can speak.

Karasu: Yatagarasu is my Divine name given to me to justify my place with the Divine. Karasu will do just fine now that I am no longer in the Divine Realm.

Dante: Well then. It's just as Lenneth said. I have a lot more to learn from you, Karasu. And that is what I intend on doing if you allow me to.

Karasu: Think of me as your wise council, Dante. I'll follow for as long as you live. We have bonded together after all.

Dante: Then with you by my side, there is nothing I cannot do. Let's continue on, Karasu. There is much to discuss.

(As Dante says this, he and Karasu continue on their journey to Lexington.)
