Leila was shaken with the sudden instructions of going with the military. So much that she wasn't able to process her mind when they were taken away from their city.
All they remember was the sudden darkness of the sky. Unlike the darkness of the night, this one was darker and somehow dangerous. Leila herself was very clear of how dangerous they are within the dark sky's range.
It's not a surprise that they are afraid of the whole ordeal. There were no warnings. Everyone has just started to be used to their lives inside the campus. And when the strangeness in the sky appeared, they did not have time to react. They have to leave immediately.
During their time on the road, the students were feeling restless. Worry fills them so much as they have no idea of the situation in their homes. Leaving so suddenly they have no time to inquire about them.
