"Why are we here?" Leo asked standing in front of the numerous clothes hung in the hangers.
"It's because...I want you to wear something good. Something which might suit you even more than this."
Cally was casual but Leo didn't understand her motive for taking him shopping, from his logic he thought shopping is not something that would lift his mood so...why shopping?
She made him try several clothes and finally they were done for today.
"We going hotel?" Leo asked and she just nodded.
*****
After roaming in the hotel and discovering it a bit they went back to their rooms.
Tonight, Leo slept on the bed of his hotel room, peacefully. But Cally wasn't able to sleep.
"It was supposed to be today, Cally!" Ray was confused by her behaviour.
"I know! But... it's hard for me to do this...it will hurt him. It will hurt him... to death."
"But...you know why you've gone there. So...just get it done, Cally. Why is it hard for you?"
"Cause I can feel him." She sniffed, her nose was runny.
"After all...you know how my father died and how...everyone called me a maniac. I just don't want him to feel the same, as I've been through those days. I know there ain't no other way but...I just can make up my mind in this." Cally sat on her bed holding her cellphone near her ear.
After giving it a thought, Ray sighed, "I understand...take your time but...just don't..don't be absent too long from here. People might get worried about you and I...I can't keep this a secret for a long time."
Cally nodded, "I'll go get some sleep now...this might be my last phone call." And she declined the call.
She sighed and laid back on the bed, her eyes wide open making her wonder how...will she end things tomorrow.
*****
"Rise and shine!" She exclaimed making Leo open his eyes.
Cally was standing just near his bed head with a smile plastered on her face.
He got up, "Today's day is going to be a weary one so...make sure to take a good and relaxing bath." She informed.
Leo nodded and went towards the bathroom while Cally went outside to prepare everything for today's journey.
"Where are we going today?" He innocently asked looking at her as the driver drives the car.
"Just somewhere to refresh your mood." Cally smiled and looked out of the window.
After some time of silence finally, the driver pushed the brake pedal.
"We've arrived ma'am!" He exclaimed.
"Is...everything ready?" She asked.
And the driver nodded.
"Let's go out Leo, it's beautiful out there." She got out of the car.
Leo followed her silently until they reached the bridge of the Taihu Lake in Wuxi.
The bridge was at its topmost beauty today, with all those cherry blossom trees surrounding it, and beneath the river flow slowly peacefully.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Cally's twinkled with happiness as they walked alongside the trees.
While Leo looked around the place as it reminded him of something.
"I've...seen this place before too..." He mumbled and Cally heard.
To distract him from his thoughts she suddenly stopped.
"Why?" He turned towards her.
She leaned backwards towards one of the trees and folded her arms above her chest.
"Because I'm curious."
"About...what?" He stood in front of her.
"Why did you...tell me about your story? All these years you'd been quiet, you never shared your story with any of those professional doctors then...why a rookie like me?"
Cally was, in reality, curious about this for a long time but never got the chance to ask. So, today she asked it out.
With some hesitation, Leo looked at her, "Because...I...trust you." He claimed.
"And...why do you trust me?"
"Your eyes." He looked into her eyes.
She blinked twice, confused with his answer.
"They are just like...Luna's. Once...she saved my life and here you are with the same green eyes standing in front of me. Helping me to walk out of my dark life towards the light."
He smiled, brightly.
"If...I had let you go...then I might've died."
"Is it why...you opened the door of your room to let Ray in on the first day of mine at the hospital?"
"How could I'd let you die again?" He brushed his fingers on her cheek.
She hugged him, tightly, and he hugged her back, "Thanks...for being by my side Caroline Thanks...for saving my life." He whispered.
Cally smiled too, but deep down she was, however, worried about something.
"It's too cold out here." She rubbed her arms.
"Will you...buy me a cup of coffee?" She asked with a smile.
Leo nodded, "Just wait here...I'll be back." And he ran away from her.
Cally sighed as she saw his silhouette vanishing in between the people.
"I'm sorry Leo." She said and walked away on the bridge.
*****
Leo came running to where he had left Cally but to his astonishment, Cally was not there anymore.
"Caroline!" He yelled out her name and turned his head here and there in search of her in the crowd.
She was nowhere to be found. Running through the crowd everyone stopped at their place when they heard a girl scream.
At the centre of the bridge was where a man was standing pointing a gun at the girl. Leo was busy finding Cally until he saw the girl being the target of the thug was Cally from behind a tree.
The thug was yelling at her in a language she wasn't able to understand.
"Caroline!" He whispered and clenched the coffee in his hand.
His feet again froze at his place, his body went numb. The incident of twenty years back flashed in his head again. Cally stood there wearing the same yellow coloured dress as Luna while the man stood in front of her pointing the gun at her.
And Leo again...felt like a coward standing behind that cherry blossom tree, just clenching his fists.
"No...I can't let this happen again." He clenched his jaws and ran towards the man.
Enraged by his fate, he ran towards him and punched him hard.
"Leo!" Yelled Cally.
But Leo didn't hear, he was frustrated to see it end this way again, he can't lose the person who is trying to save him again...just because he is a coward.
The man stepped back a bit and being enraged he pointed his gun at Leo. He kept yelling in his foreign language.
Leo held him by the collar, his demon was slowly taking his place again. Cally ran toward them and tried to separate them, but...Leo was not going to stop today.
All his anger which filled inside him all this time against that man who killed Luna had burst out today. Leo punched him again and his lips started bleeding. Fighting with each other now they were on the edge of the bridge.
Leo tried to snatch the gun away from the man, but Cally came in between and as Leo took the gun away from his hand, he accidentally pulled the trigger and came to his senses when Cally bled due to the bullet stuck in her chest.
She fainted and was about to fall off the bridge when Leo held her. He knelt while holding Cally in his arms.
Her eyes flutter open and she could see Leo's eyes dwelling up.
'Once again...I lost against my fate.' He thought...
