Chapter 77 - The Gift For The Angel.

"15 February..." Cally readout.

The diary cover was quite delicate and pages were yellow loosely held by the cover presenting how old it was. Looking at how carelessly it was jotted down anyone could imagine that it was written by a kid.

"Luna has gifted me this diary, she told me to write in it I think to improve my English I'll write in English in it rather than Chinese." Carla read further under her breath.

She turned some of those foxed pages, "Today Luna brought some bread from the market, it was tasty. Luna is the best in the world. I love her." She read in a low voice.

Repeatedly reading the name 'Luna' made her wonder who she is so to find it out she turned more pages,

"25 February,

I miss mom and daddy, if only we hadn't shifted here then they would've been with us."

"But now that Luna is here I'm not scared anymore. She loves me the most."

"28 February,

I gave an entrance exam for a school today, the teachers told everyone that results will out within fifteen days. Luna has been praying for my best to god. I tried my best but I don't know what will happen. If I didn't get in then Luna will be disappointed and I don't want her to be."

"1 March,

The cherry blossoms are about to grow, Luna has promised me that she'll take me there once they start to fall. I'm so excited to go there."

"2 March,

I was not able to sleep yesterday at night due to the lightening, the lightening reminds of that day when there was water everywhere and no one was to be found around me. I hate thunder, lightning and rain. They give me nightmares but then Luna told me funny stories and helped me get back to sleep. She also promised me that if ever I am scared I can look up for her."

"Who is Luna?" Carla wondered.

Turning some pages again suddenly she realised the pages were blank. She turned some pages back and found the last thing written,

"10 March,

Luna has said that she'll take me to the riverbank to see cherry blossom. I can't wait, tomorrow will be the best day of my life. Tomorrow is a special day for Luna and so I have prepared something, I will gift it to her as her birthday present and I hope she likes it. I really can't wait for tomorrow's morning."

This last account in the diary made Cally think what was the present that the kid had prepared for Luna.

"Why is this the last entry? Why did the kid stop writing after this?" Cally thought within herself.

She had a positive sense of this diary belonging to Leo and he being this child too. But to whom should she ask? She wondered. Nurse Mable is a quite stern person when it comes to Leo's past.

Whereas, on the other hand, Leo hates to talk anything about his past. Thinking deeply, she knew it was a Hobson's choice. She sighed and decided to go for it whatever the consequences will be.

She creaks open the door of the room and peeked into it. It was dark as usual.

"Anyone there? Leo?" She asked as she stepped inside, closing the door behind her.

Now she wasn't afraid of the man trapped inside this small room instead she had sympathy for him. Sympathy for whatever happened to him in his childhood which still haunts him which...still gives him nightmares.

She walked some steps ahead and now was standing in the dark all clueless.

"You here again?" Leo's voice echoed suddenly making Cally jolt.

"Yeah, Me! Here, again!" She said out loud followed by her light chuckle.

Leo sighed in frustration when he had first seen Cally he thought that like others she'll also leave him alone if he scares her. But unlike others, she was quite determined towards her work and his case which made him annoyed a lot sometimes. There was nothing he could do to stop her. In front of her, it was like his all evil ideas fail and his all muscles power goes in vain cause no matter how much he might scare her she won't leave him alone in any case.

"Why so silent today?" Cally asked Leo who was sunk in deep thoughts.

"Won't you kick me out today?" She took some steps further towards his single bed.

It was like there meeting point that she knew, every time she'll come, Leo will be found sitting there. She took each step without any hesitation and went towards him.

"Are you even there? Or hiding somewhere to scare me out again so that I run out of here." She guessed, now she could hear Leo's frustrated sighs again and again.

"I came here cause...there's one question that needs to be answered. I could've gone to nurse Mable too but... you know I feel more comfortable with you than her. Cause when she glares at me I come to forget everything." And she chuckled again.

The ventilator covered with a translucent glass above the main door of the room helped Cally to see a bit. She could see Leo glaring at her when she talked about Mable' glare.

"So...will you answer it for me?" She requested answered by a brief silence.

Considering it she nodded as she came up with an instant plan and said further.

"Okay...okay before that...lemme tell you a story. It isn't too long but...its something very interesting and cute. So...don't say anything just listen to it carefully."

"Once there was a small kid, all alone in a small village. He had no parents with him. How they died no one knew except for the boy. He had no one whom he could hug at night he was scared of thundering and lightening. He had no one who could buy him some delicious bread. He used to cry at his fate alone each night. Then one day...an angel came into his life."

As Cally spoke Leo heard it sincerely and somewhere he felt this story same as his childhood. When he was all lonely and there was no one to wipe his tears. Slowly hearing the story his eyes got filled with tears as he looked into the void and remembered his childhood silently.

Cally kept looking in the front as she continued her story.

"The angel hugged him, wiped his tears and did everything for the boy which he wished to do. Soon the angel became his best friend and the boy loved her the most. Looking at how much that angel did for her the kid wanted to repay it and so...he bought a small gift for her. But no one knows what that gift wa-"

"The result of the entrance exam." Leo unintentionally whispered interrupting Cally...
