Chapter 63 - Open Up

Oh, mom and aunt Merylin! You're here today?!" Sarah said as she kept her handbag on the sofa and sat beside it feeling all tired.

They both looked at Sarah and her mom nodded while aunt Merylin just looked at Sarah with wet eyes and many questions sparkling in it.

'What happened is everything alright?' Sarah asked as soon as she saw Merylin.

'Merylin...thinks that she has-' Hannah took a deep breath.

'That she has seen her son.'

At this statement of her mother, Sarah's eyes got widened up, a smile embarrassed her lips and all her tiredness went away. She sat upright and asked. further while looking at Merylin.

'That's good news. where did you meet him, aunt? Did he talk to you? Did he recognize you?

'That's the problem.' Hannah said and Sarah's brows got furrowed.

'He didn't look at her and went away. Now we don't know what to do.' Hannah explained.

Sarah looked at Merylin who was looking down without uttering a single word.

'I don't think his son wants to meet him.'

'How can he ignore her mother this way?' Hannah said.

Sarah knew that even being her mother Hannah was a little dumb in counselling or showing sympathy for others. By Merylin's silence and actions Sarah quickly understood that there was still something, Merylin wanted to ask.

'Mom stop it.' Sarah said calmly.

'Wha-'

'I guess you should go and look around your company it's been a while since you worked sincerely there.' Sarah commanded and stood up from sofa walking towards her mom.

'But wh-'

'No arguments, no- nothing just go mom.' Hannah was interrupted and was almost pushed out of the house.

'Sarah!' Hannah yelled being frustrated by the sudden change of behaviour in Sarah.

'I'll buy you a nice meal late. Okay?' Before Hannah could say further Sarah closed the saying,

'Bye! See you later.'

Cally sighed as she sat beside her mom,

'What happened you look down today?' Margaret asked.

'Mom.' She said lightly while looking into the void.

'Hmm.' Replied Margaret.

'Why is it so hard to live properly?'

'What happened sweetie?' Margaret turned Cally's face towards her and started searching for an answer in her dull eyes.

Cally shook her head and smiled slightly

'Nothing.' She whispered and stood up and walk up to her room.

She opened the door and before going inside she turned around and said,

'Are preparation done for Sarah's secret welcome party?'

Margaret nodded slightly and Cally went inside the room shutting the door behind her. Margaret didn't butt in between her thoughts as she knew that her daughter is quite smart and nothing could harm her. But being a mother she still wasn't able to settle her mind which kept wondering in the worry of her only and precious daughter.

Cally sat on her study table and looked outside the window just in front of her table.

'How can I help you, Leo, unless you open up with me?' She whispered as a tear rolled down up to her lip.

Earlier in the afternoon...

'Yes, I went into his room and that's not the first time I've been there many times.'

Nurse Mable looked at Caroline with widened eyes as she had many questions to ask,

'Did he...try to harm you?' She finally asked after a minute of debating within her mind whether to ask or not.

'Hmm.' Cally slowly whispered.

'Every time I went there he tried to harm me in different ways, but...' She stopped in between.

'But?' Nurse Mable asked.

'But he never really harmed me, every time he approached me and stopped in the middle like his intentions were not so.' Cally said.

A smile spread over Nurse Mable's wrinkled face,

'Oh my, Leo!' She whispered looking in front feeling all delighted that he never harmed Cally.

This reaction of Nurse Mable made Cally confused,

'Are you...perhaps-' She stopped and Nurse Mable looked at her.

'Related with Leo? I mean are you his moth-' Before she could even complete Nurse Mable stood up and said,

'Dr. Caroline, I guess I've wasted my time enough. Sorry but I'll go now.' And she simply walked out leaving Cally alone.

Later when Cally was heading towards the lift to go down she met with the darkroom again. She looked at its door, took a deep breath and went inside again.

'Leo, can I talk a bit.' She asked standing just in front of the door after closing it. Looking into the dark now she wasn't afraid of the man living here. Instead, she was felt depressed somehow even before knowing his whole story. Little did she know that whatever happened in past is the only reason which has made Leo a psychopath.

Standing for a minute she said again,

'I won't go if you don't answer me.'

There was a deep silence again when she felt slow breathing just in front of her. She stretched her hand a bit to look for him but she only felt the warmth of air around.

'Leo, I'm here to hel-'

'You shouldn't have approached her.' Leo said in a dark voice which expressed his anger toward her.

Within a second the door was opened and as cally turned around to look she was pushed outside.

'Leo, wait Le-' She said and he shut the door without even listening to her.

She knew that asking him to open the door would just waste of time and energy and so she went towards the lift.

Present...

Here Sarah was with Merylin alone.

'Aunt I know there's something you want to say. Something which you weren't able to say earlier.'

'How will I help you you won't tell me?'

'What is it aunt tell me, maybe I can help you with it.' Sarah said and held Merylin's hand tightly and sat beside her on the dining table.

'That day...' Merylin said slowly.

'I met him.' She continued.

'Where aunt?' Sarah asked.

'At the hospital, I didn't tell Hannah about it but...the strange thing was-' She inhaled deeply.

'I- I saw him coming out of your room.'

Sarah's brows got knitted and she started thinking of who he could be. According to Merylin's information, Sarah thought of three men who could be the one.

'He went out of the room, without even sparing a look at me.' And Merylin's flooded eyes let down the flow up to her cheeks.

Thinking about who he could be Sarah had inky one clue to differentiate it with,

'What was he wearing, do you remember aunt?' Sarah asked further.

'He was dressed just like his father wearing a three-piece suit, looking like a prince.' Merylin said as she got lost in the memory of his son whom she met that day.

On the other hand, Sarah thought deeply but her mind wasn't able to accept if he was really the one Merylin is finding, and she ended up saying,

'Mr Niall?..."
