Chapter 62 - A Request...

'What did I hear? Sarah slapped you?' Emma is a bit worried. She wanted to ask this question since they started to drive towards their house, but didn't have enough confidence to ask something so delicate about Jeremy while he was driving. Little did she knew that he loved Sarah too as he had admitted it himself in front of her. So, what made Sarah slap him made Emma curious and worried the most.

'Does it even matter to you?' Jeremy taunted and smirked as he started to walk towards his room.

He knew that all Emma cared about was just Niall and his father. He also knew that she hated him the most. So, this worry of Emma made Jeremy think about the reason behind it.

'Stop taunting and tell me what happened?' Emma followed and overtook Jeremy to stop him.

'Stop gossiping around with your co-workers and focus on your work.' Jeremy pushed Emma aside and went inside his room.

Before Emma could approach further he almost slapped the door at her face which made Emma step backwards a bit.

Emma sighed and knocked at his door,

'As if I'm going to unlock.' Jeremy responded.

Emma knew how hard it was to deal with her brother, so she just went to her room with a long face.

Here Jeremy sat on his chair and took out a box from his pocket. He further opened it and there was a ring, a beautiful ring made up of palladium band. It had the rare blue diamond embedded on its gallery and the shank was of made up of small, perfectly cut, bright white diamonds. The ring looked quite expensive and at the same time, it looked too beautiful for anyone to possess it. As Jeremy looked at it one memory flashed into his mind,

****

'Are all the preparations done?' Cally asked as she sat in her cabin.

'Hmm, almost done, I hope Sarah likes it.' Jeremy replied with a smile as he looked at the box he was holding on to so tightly since the time he bought it.

'Of course, she will. Don't worry.' Cally reassured.

She had only known Jeremy through Sarah and Niall, but her god-gifted instincts told her that when all this time Sarah looked at him as a friend he has looked at her more than just a friend. She found Jeremy as a nice guy but it also hurt her that there's nothing she can do to fulfil his dream.

'I hope everything goes right.' Cally murmured but she had forgotten that she was on a call and Jeremy had probably heard it.

'Why? Do you feel anything's wrong?' He asked worriedly as his eyebrows got knitted.

'No, just, this all seems so perfect, which makes me wonder if, in reality, it's perfect.' Cally replied putting her elbows on her desk and looking in the void.

There was a brief silence for some seconds until Jeremy said,

'I'll be driving now, going to the company. So, let's meet in the evening.'

He said in a hurry and ended the phone call abruptly even before she could say anything.

Cally found this behaviour a bit suspicious but didn't find it any benefit to enquire through it and so, she took out her notepad to go and attend her daily patients.

Here Jeremy was out of the mall and, now, was standing in front of three men all dressed in a perfect black suit. As he saw them he exhaled lightly and looked aside and down to his feet as a smirk formed on his thin lips. Little did he know about the person he was going to meet in a second. And all his thoughts came at rest when a voice said from behind,

'Oh son! What a coincidence?!' Flora came from behind walking slowly and gracefully. Jeremy turned around and glared at her.

'What do you want now?' He asked clenching his jaws.

'Don't be harsh on me, son. After all, we've met after a long time.' Flora looked at him with slightly wet eyes as she put her hand on his shoulder.

'Is Niall around?' He asked, his head turned on right while from the corner of his eyes he could see Flora standing beside him but a bit behind.

'No, he has a company to handle. He can't be with his mother all day, you know that.'

'Oh wait!' She said and put her hand on her mouth,

'You don't have a company. You don't even have a mother, and your father doesn't give a sh*t about you and your sister. Oh! What a mess! Oh!' She ended removing her hand from his shoulder while shaking her head.

Jeremy turned his head towards her and glared at her again, but before he could say anything she replied,

'Don't you dare to hurt my pride, son. You know what all I can do.' Which made Jeremy lowered down his gaze.

'Why are you here then, being so sweet?' He asked again.

'Actually, I was here to buy some stuff and unfortunately, I saw you.' She smirked.

'Well, the thing is...' She walked some steps and came in front of him.

'As I saw you my mind went a bit evil.'

'I can see you're quite close with Sarah again!' And she looked at the small box Jeremy was holding all this time in his fist. Jeremy understood her intentions and so he tried to hide the box behind him but it was quite late now.

'So, there's a small request I would like to make to you.' She looked at him.

'You see, while you're friend with her there's a slight chance that you'll protect her now and then like you did to Niall. So.....make her hate you!'

Jeremy looked at her and sighed in frustration, he clenched his jaw and looked down and back at her.

'I know. Nothing comes without a prize in this world, son.' She emphasized the word son. The word son sounded like a mock from her mouth ever since Jeremy got to know her real face.

'Okay, so let's decide either you make distances from her or the whole world will believe that Niall is a psychopath after the prime news show tonight.' She threatened him confidently and showed him a video on her phone screen.

'I am Amanda Wilkinson, previous manager of the CEO of the company "The Ambition." Said Amanda sitting on a chair in a room glowed up with bright yellow light, facing the camera nervously.

'I had tried very hard to hide this truth from the world but I can't forget the things that happened with me while working in that company. Due to those five months, I still suffer from insomnia and...' She sobbed and took a deep breath.

'And posttraumatic disorders.'

She looked down and continued.

'It's hard to sleep peacefully with all those dreams which are related to that terrifying reality.'

'You see these scars on my neck,' She said as she uncovered her neck.

'On my wrists.' and folded her cuffs.

'These deep, still healing wounds on my ankles and knees.' She completed by showing the camera some disturbing wounds of her ankle and knees.

'These are the proves of the sufferings I went through. And today all those suffering led me to admit, that,'

She faced the camera confidently while a tear rolled down her eye and said,

'Niall Carter the CEO of The Ambition is a psychopath...'
