Chereads / Facing Into The Sky / Chapter 11 - Despondency

Chapter 11 - Despondency

Author's Point Of View

Jackson and Florence first met in the previous chapter, when Jackson stepped into the school's hallway. As soon as school finished, Florence sent Jackson a text message asking for his assistance with a problem. Asking about her situation, he is irritated by it.

Jackson's Point Of View

It's her, isn't it? What's up with that?

I got a horrible feeling about Florence's condition when she pointed it out to me. My prediction came true, Maria came to the school with her pricks of a security team behind her. There were three of them, but now there are only two? And where is the other?

What the---

Florence's shoulder is grabbed by a huge brown hand. I turned around and noticed him, the third bodyguard I mentioned. I dislike her security because they have been disrespectful to me ever since I became a star. Florence screams "Let me go, asshole!" when the third bodyguard drags her away.

He keeps his mouth shut and throws her inside the limousine without uttering a sound. We exchange threatening glances as if we were both arch-enemies like the dark knight and the joker. Maria, we'll never be friends or partners for the foreseeable future. It is preferable to call her by her given name. 'Director' is a name that I dislike calling her.

Then, I go home and take a bath. I'm done. I'll be honest, the water that splashes through my body makes my head feel incredibly fresh. Due to the fact that today makes me feel like I am riding charades in the Coliseum in front of these events, which are my competitors. As much as the water is hot, I can still hear Florence's voice from the moment Maria's bodyguard grabbed her by the shoulders.

Let me go, asshole!! – Florence.

It would be interesting to know what their relationship is like...

Why did she scream in such a way? Because of her yells, all of the students were looking at her. Do I even give a fig about it? The reason for the bruises on her body is unbeknownst to me.

Buzz…

Buzz…

Hm? My phone rings.

I grabbed my cell phone, there was a message.

Holly: Hey, jack.

Holly: Got a minute?

Holly, did you really chat with me? She's incredibly rare.

Jackson: Sure.

Holly: I need to talk to you about Lisa.

Would she like to discuss her with me in more detail?

Jackson: Ok.

Jackson: What's wrong with her?

Holly: I… You know, curious about her attitude.

Jackson: Holly, she's the dumbest girl I've ever met in my life. She aspires to be a better artist than I am.

Holly: So, what do you think of her from your perspective? Jackson, my thoughts differ from yours. Even though I was a flawless student, I still want her to have a positive mindset.

Jackson: Why did you explain it as if it were a witch's lucky charm?

Holly: That's a moot point, hehe. Because of this, I believed Lisa was a ridiculous person to be friends with.

Jackson: Okay.

Holly: And one more thing, jack.

Jackson: What?

Holly: My parents are divorcing.

Jackson: What??

~~~
Author's Point Of View
Jackson couldn't believe Holly's parents were divorcing when he heard the news. Jackson is stunned. But why was he the first person to learn that Holly's parents were divorcing? She telling Jackson that information isn't really required.
Jackson: Holly, is it okay for you to tell me about your parents?
Holly: Yeah… It's okay. Cause you're my only trust friend.
Jackson: What? I was your only friend? What about the others?
Holly: Yes. I acted in a way that made me appear to be the ideal student. Nobody has heard of it.
Jackson: Huh? What do you mean?
Holly: For me, having numerous friends is a source of joy. My relationship with them is, however, bleak. It was "okay" when I asked for help.
Wow, that's harsh. – Jackson.
Jackson: That's awful. What if they simply aid you out of a desire to do so?
Holly: You're welcome to say so.
Jackson: Keep your worries to yourself; I'll always be there for you! Hopefully, I can make you feel better.
Holly: I appreciate your sympathy, Jackson.
Jackson: Yes, with much pleasure.
Holly: Bye, Jack.
She's at least pleased for the time being, which is a relief. – Jackson, relieved.
On the following day, Jackson arrived at school early, as is his habit. After talking with Holly about her concerns, he feels comfortable. It was the first time in Jackson's life that someone had confided in him about their issues. Unimportant topics were discussed with him by many of his friends. Next, when Jackson enters the field, Holly and Florence are walking side by side.
"Good morning."
Both of them greet Jackson, "Good morning, Jack."
Florence asks them a question when Jackson walks by and smiles at Holly, "What's happening?"
Holly answers, "Yesterday we chatted about school, is that right, Jack?"
Jackson nodded, "Yeah."
Florence says, "Oh, okay."
That morning, they talked to each other before heading to school when the bell rings off. Students are told about their latest homework as the teacher enters the classroom. Nobody responds to the teacher's question, because no one knows the solution to it. The teacher is furious.
"Nobody has done the homework? Such a shame for you all."
The students down their heads and look at each other for starting a clash between them. The teacher to be shattering by their arguments.
"Stop shouting at each other, please."
The students stopped their clash and saw the teacher look tired.
Stupid students. – Jackson, doesn't care when his friends clash except Holly, Lisa, and Dessy.
"Thanks for making me understand."
The teacher continues talking, "I want to know about the news recently. There was an incident in social media."
The students don't know what the teacher means.
The teacher hands out his phone, "Jackson Freeman gained his first controversy. Does anybody know that?"
Jackson does shock when the teacher mentions his name. He can't believe that the incident is being opened again. After the teacher tells the incident, the students can't believe what Jackson did to Maria. Jackson opened his phone, checked his social media.
And it's true, the incident became trending number one. He types messages to Holly with a high-speed tap.
Holly: Holy shit, Jack. I checked social media and the news has spread everywhere.
Jackson: What does she want?
Holly: I don't know, Jack.
Oh, no. I know what's going on. – Jackson.
Jackson:…
Holly: Florence. We need to talk with her when recess.
Jackson: Agreed.
~~~

Recess…

Jackson and Holly made their way to the canteen to look for Florence, which they did. Someone grabbed Jackson's hand just as they were about to reach the canteen.

"We need to talk."

Jackson looked back, it was Lisa.

What does she want now?
