My eyes open wide, and I gasped. As if electricity surged throughout my body, I shivered extremely. My heart rapidly tries to pump its way out of my chest.
Someone or something shifts beside me, then a cold hand places itself on my bare neck, "Rose, are you okay?" I shriek, turning toward Faye, who looks at me with worrisome eyes. She held the lamp as our only source of light in this wagon.
"Did you have a bad dream?" she asks, her face softens upon seeing my expression. I stare at her, trying to bring back my composure. It couldn't have been a dream, for it felt all too real.
"I-" my words won't cooperate with me while I try to remain calm. I manage to get a two-way ticket; praise heavens I disappeared from that house just in time, "yes, I had a bad dream."
"Do you want some water?" Faye asks, and I nod. She goes to her side and digs through the bags for a bottle of water while I take deep breaths, recalling what just happened.
