Chapter 55 - Gentle Waters

I awaken to the roar of waves crashing on the shore. The morning sunlight gently caresses my eyes and warms my cheeks. I no longer feel the sharp movements of the wagon as we've come to a stop. I lift myself from the difficult position that I happen to sleep the entire ride. 

To release my discomfort and weariness, I stretch my limbs. My bottom feels like I've been sitting on a thousand needles for a day. I scan the empty wagon, wondering where Rhys and Faye could have gone. 

The ray of sunshine that's slipping past the slightly exposed window touches the side of my eyes; I move the curtains and look out to gasp in surprise. 

The carriage's position overlooks the beautiful white sand beach. The sparkling waters are mesmerizing that even from afar, I could feel the calmness of the sea. My desire to feel the sun and my toes to creep under the white sand have me bolting out the second.
