Seeing my daughter about to run to where her butler is, I immediately stopped her.
"Mel, there is something you should hear first." I called on her.
"What is it, father?" She asked, though it was obvious how impatient she was.
"I find the appearance of the necromancer to be off." I told her and turned to look at the Salvatore duke. "He seemed to be after me and the other dukes, especially the Salvatore."
Probably hearing his name, Salvatore turned his head towards meeting my eyes. He then motioned something to his men and headed where we were sitting with a young boy.
"Your grace.." He greeted me with a slight bow and so did the boy.
"Salvatore.." I greeted him back but did not bow. I have a higher noble status than him. "Good timing. I was just telling my eldest daughter that the necromancer was weird. Like he came specifically for us."
Salvatore looked at my daughters then back at me, skeptically. He must be shocked at how young my girls are.
"Father said that the necromancer seemed to target the both of you, do you think so too?" Melody asked him in a domineering tone which caught him off guard
"What His grace said is correct, lady Castellan-"
"Melody." Melody cut him off.
"Lady Melody." Salvatore cleared his throat. "The necromancer indeed was targeting us, and he even confirmed it himself."
"How?" Melody asked with a frown, her impatience gone but was replaced with curiosity.
"While we were fighting the necromancer, he said something to the archduke." Salvatore passed the explanation to me.
Melody glanced at me with a look that says; 'Explain everything.' Making me sigh.
"When we found them fighting the undead, Salvatore was the one who was facing the necromancer. So I immediately went to his side to help him, you know, two is better than one." I shrugged and saw my daughters roll their eyes at me. I cleared my throat awkwardly and continued. "But when the necromancer saw me he had a huge victorious smile on his face."
I recalled how nerve-wrecking the necromancer's grin was when he saw me. It was like his mouth would eat his entire face.
"We were fighting but it only seemed as if we were not moving, like the necromancer was playing with us with an evil smile never leaving his face." I frowned.
"It felt like he was waiting for the archduke to arrive, actually." Salvatore added. "And while we were fighting, it felt like he was trying to tire us out."
Melody furrowed her brows but did not comment, she just nodded and motioned for us to continue.
"While we were fighting, he said something." I looked at Salvatore who nodded.
I recalled what I heard.
"Archduke Castellan, it will only be a couple minutes before the entire mountain be filled with demon beasts.' In a malicious voice. 'Your disappearance together with Duke Salvatore would be blamed to those beasts and no one would think that you were actually murdered."
Athy stood up from where she was sitting and hugged me while Melody's face turned dark.
"He threatened you?" Melody asked after a few moments, her face had on a smile but it was one that made even my skin crawl. "An old, dead mam walking threatened you?"
Hearing the anger behind her question, even our knights flinched in fear.
"That low-life bastard seems to want me to nail his coffin." She said and suddenly released a blood-curling killing intent.
The others who were there dropped on the ground at the intense pressure from Melody.
"Mel, stop!" I screamed at her. "Are you trying to kill everyone here?"
Even her killing intent could pressure a knight from the other houses to drop on their knees. Just how over-powered is this daughter of mine?
Melody withdrew her killing intent but I could still see how angry she was. She was clearly out for blood. Or whatever would come out of a necromancer!
"Loki, Athy, bring everyone back to the camps." Melody ordered her sister and her butler. "Make sure to keep them safe."
"What about you, my lady?" Marionne asked worriedly.
"I'll go over to Seb to check things out." She answered.
Melody was never the type of person to let go of someone she set her eyes on.
"You should take some of the knights with you." I told her which the knights nodded in agreement.
"No." She shook her head. "I need them to stay and protect you."
"But there are hundreds, if not thousands of those undead with the necromancer and you could get trapped." I reasoned with her.
Melody smiled innocently.
"I'd like to see them try."
"But.." I tried to urge her to take some knights but she cut me off.
"Sebastiene is there anyway, he will be more than enough." She added which made me unable to protest.
Sebastiene is someone whose strength is acknowledged by my daughters so who am I to question it?
"Fine." I gave up. "But be extra careful, you might also be a target."
Melody nodded before smiling and hugging me.
Why are my daughters stronger than me in this life?
