Inside my office, a little girl's gaze was pitch black as the night sky when stars are hidden behind rolls of heavy clouds. The corner of her lips slowly lifted up unto a cold smile.
"If you want, I have a way to know for sure whether your brother is still among the living or is already together with the dead." She spoke in such an alluring voice that her childlike physique did not quietly match.
Hearing what Athy said, Loki immediately stood up, shaking.
"My lady, whatever you want me to do, I will do. Whatever I have, I will give to you, even this life of mine. Please, tell me the way I can know for sure if my brother is still alive." Loki kneeled on the ground in front of Athy. "I beg you, my lady."
Athy's smile disappeared as she looked at Loki grovel before her.
"I will tell you this, but I want you to promise me one thing."
"Anything!" Loki promptly answered.
"When you find your brother, dead or alive, and returned him to your people, you will come back and serve me until I no longer require your service." Athy said as she held Loki's face with both of her tiny hands.
"I have already promised under the moon goddess to serve you, my lady. A lycan's promise to Luna cannot be broken." He reasoned.
"Then, just keep your promise and I will definitely help you retrieve your little brother." Athy let go of his face and he nodded fervently making her smile.
"Sisters, I have decided to make Loki my personal butler and guard." Athy announced as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and beamed brightly.
"Does he even know a single thing about being a butler?" Uriel asked awkwardly.
Athy turned her head to Sebastiene and extended a dainty finger.
"You, stupid demon, help Loki with everything he needs to know about being a butler."
The edge of my mouth twitched at how Athy ordered Sebastiene. So domineering!
"With pleasure my lady." Sebastiene's calm and gentle voice was heard. He then turned his head towards Loki, sending an antagonizing gaze that made the latter gulp hard.
"I suggest we start later, after here." Sebastiene smiled as if nothing happened.
"No." Athy rejected Sebastiene's invitation. "He will be coming with me after to check whether his brother is truly alive or not."
Loki's ears perked up when he heard what Athy said.
"Of course, my lady, I can wait until you finish." Sebastiene smiled thinly.
"If you have decided, then there is nothing I need to ask further since he will be under your care." I said and stood up. "It's already late and I'm tired, I'm going to bed. Good night everyone."
The others followed me and went back to their own rooms. Loki followed Athy and Elaheh while Uriel went to her room.
"Seb." I turned to look at my butler when we arrived in my room. "How are the barriers protecting the castle?"
Sebastiene stopped on his tacks and thought for a second before shrugging.
"Everything seems durable, my lady."
"Do you think it can stop an attack using your full force?" I asked sitting on my bed.
"I could probably stop it once before breaking." He answered as he kneeled down and took off my shoes. "Anderson and the other knights did a great job in putting it up."
"I see." I nodded.
"Hmmm.." Sebastiene glanced at me from his kneeling position. "Is everything alright, my lady?"
I thought for a moment. I actually wanted to travel the entire territory but with the threat of Marquis McClare and the necromancer, I cannot just leave at will. I have to take care of the threats first before moving on with my plan or to find dependable people to protect our family. The first option sounds good but will create a domino effect that would most probably give us so many headaches, while the second option sounds faster but is actually harder.
"Nothing." I smiled at him. "Please ready my bath, I want to clean up first before going to bed."
"Yes, my lady." Sebastiene went into the bathroom to warm my water and ready the necessary oils.
I forgot that I am in need of maids in waiting as Sebastiene cannot continue to help me with my bath.
'I should probably start looking for some.' I thought to myself as I picked out what I should wear to bed.
"My lady, your bath is ready." Sebastiene announced as he walked out the bathroom.
"Okay." I nodded and sauntered into the bathroom.
I heard the bedroom door close and knew that Sebastiene is waiting outside my room. He never comes in until call for him when I am fully dressed.
I did not stay long in the bath. I quickly put on my pajamas and sat in front of the mirror.
"Seb." I called.
Sebastiene came in, smiling as usual. He took a fluffy towel and started drying my hair.
"Seb, do you have any idea about Loki?" I looked at him through the mirror. "He did say his father is the king of the lycans."
"Hmmmm.." Sebastiene vaguely smiled. "I did hear things about what happened here and there."
I perked up. "Tell me."
Sebastiene smiled while focusing on my hair.
"If I am not mistaken, Loki is the lone wolf, or what you humans refer to as the 'black sheep' of a family."
