Thursday, 1:48 am. 1994, on the 3rd of March. Earth.
A voice. There was talking somewhere, it was close by and it was disturbing her sleep.
Angel groaned, feeling agitated by the sudden noise her sensitive hearing allowed to disturb her once peaceful sleep. Her drowsiness was telling her to ignore it but a more awake part of herself told her to go see what it was. She closed her eyes, letting the drowsiness settle down and as it did, her ears perked up to listen. The realization that the voice was coming from above her, on her roof, became a firm truth that caused her to stuff her face into the softness of her pillow and groan in annoyance. She was almost too tired to care about this but it was the small percent of fear that whoever was up there would break-in, and the curiosity of wanting to know who it was, that made her slowly slide out of her very comfortable bed. Her movements were sluggish and she had to force an effort to throw the blanket off to let her feet slide off the bed and onto the floor. Pins and needles struck her feet from how cold the floor had gotten, not even her stockings stopped it, and she winced. Angel muttered under her breath, wishing she had turned the heat on before she slept and forced herself to stand, a wobble in her tired step as she made her way to her dresser. It was obvious she wasn't going up there in bra and panties, even if she exhausted enough to, the coldness stopped that. Oh, and the stranger she was about to confront did too. She rummaged through everything in her dresser, picking through what she thought would be good to wear before she threw on a loose tank top and a pair of shorts that showed off most of her thighs, being happy that she chose something that covered her enough or she would be searching for clothes till morning. Once she found herself presentable, she walked out of her bedroom to the hallway, keeping her steps light as possible so she could concentrate on the talking, trying to get some background on the person before she had to force herself to confront them. She picked up that the voice sounded male, a little bit of an accent she couldn't place, a tone of anger being present and he sounded young, this could be easily wrong though, all of it, but you never know. Taking what she learned, she thought about how she would go about this. This guy was already angered, talking could lead to him becoming more aggravated and attacking. Surprise attacking him was also out of the question, she didn't know his appearance or strength but she knew he would likely be stronger than her due to her being underweight and having no knowledge of fighting except primal instinct of fear fighting. Her primal instincts forced her body to defend itself but it only happened if she felt frightened or threatened, she desperately hoped that wouldn't happen. Maybe scaring him off would work? Scare him by pushing him off the roof. That sounded like a good idea, not the best but enough for her tired mind to check as good.
Angel walked with quiet steps through the dark hallway and down the stairs, the carpet making this an easy task but as she turned right to go through a walkway that led to the dark kitchen, she had to pay attention to where she placed her foot on the hardwood floor or it would creak. She didn't bother to turn the lights on, not risking anything of letting the guy know she was home, it would give an advantage she couldn't allow. She opened the backdoor carefully once she reached it and stepped out, not shutting it cause she'd be going back in right after she dealt with this. Her ears twitched, listening to the male talk but never hearing him say a single clear word. However, his voice itself..it caused something weird. He was young, something obvious the more she heard him, and his angered tone had gone into a range of frustration and furious, whoever he was talking to not understanding something somewhere. The sound of his voice and how he talked, it made her feel a strange sensation while an extremely foreign emotion embraced her mind and body. It was cozy and calming as if just listening to him could make all her worries disappear and make her relax, she didn't know what this was or why she felt it. Angel shook her head, detaching her mind and body from this feeling to get her focus back, dismissing it as her sleepiness causing it. She couldn't be letting it do this right now, it was time for her attention to stay outside her feelings. She took in a deep breath, held it as her heartbeat slowed, and let it out with all thoughts following and clearing her mind. She was ready to confront this guy.
Her midnight black wings fluttered open with the quiet ruffle of her feathers, spreading to their full wingspan of an impressive ten feet, impressive due to them not being fully grown and they were above the average size for her age. Angel closed her eyes, clearing her mind just a bit more when doubts swam close and soon she walked up to the wall of her house. She opened her blue eyes, looking up as she placed her hands on the wall and lifted herself into the air with a harsh flap of her wings, using her hands to climb up the wall and to stay soundless as possible. She found herself grabbing onto the edge of the roof quite quickly, her wings closing while she heaved in a silent breath of air and used most of her strength to pull her body up onto the roof and into a crouch. She let the breath out, looking up and scanning over the flat surface of the roof. A faint dial tone made her ears twitch, along with a near-silent curse from the male voice. Her eyes latched onto a dark figure sitting on the other edge of the roof, her eyes adjusting to the dark to let her see that they wore a black and dark red hoodie, having the hood on. They would have almost been unseeable if it wasn't for the red color of the hoodie but it also helped Angel that she had good hearing and could see better in the dark than most people. Angel's midnight colored wolf tail lashed violently behind her and she had a brief thought of how she was lucky nothing was behind her or she would have knocked it down and alarmed the male, knowing herself to be clumsy. She then scolded herself-Focus Angel, focus! With another silent deep breath in to get her focus back and hoping it stays this time, she got onto her hands and knees, keeping her eyes on the male. She felt her natural instinct of attack try to take over and with how sleepy she was, she would have allowed it. She stopped herself though, her tired body reminding her that if she wasn't cautious, he could easily overpower her. Her sleepiness was a disadvantage in this, so she was silent and kept her mind focused on the male in front of her. She slowly began to crawl forward to him, her movement not making a single sound to her own ears so she knew he heard nothing, that was a good thing. The male let out a sudden sigh, "Stupid phone.." he mumbled to himself, and even while it mumbled, Angel heard it. And it made her pause. Her body immediately relaxed, her ears twitching down when the foreign feeling from before surrounded her again, it was subtle but she could tell it changed something within her. It felt weird to her but in a good way, it embraced her like a warm hug and she wanted to embrace it back for as long as possible. She tried to ignore it for the sake of it being something he was doing on purpose and if he was about to attack her. Chance a feeling, it would not be worth her death. So, with the feeling dismissed once again, she continued to crawl closer to him, taking her time as she did. She kept misjudging distance, finding herself right behind him sooner than she thought she'd be and yet again thought it off as something her tired mind was doing. She crouched, getting into a position to push him with her legs bracing herself and her hands barely an inch away from his back ready to force him off. He..felt warm, the air around him was so warm and inviting, Angel's focus was getting away again. Her tired mind fogged, thinking about hugging the warmth right in front of her, and without thinking, she moved forward to do so. The roof creaked when her weight shifted and her focus snapped back as her body tensed, her eyes widening when the male flinched ever so slightly and turned his head to look behind himself, right where she was. Oh god, a moment of panic! Push, Angel, push!
A second thought was not given by Angel when her adrenaline kicked in, her immediately summoning all the strength her tired body could muster when the guy began to twist toward her, a literal split-second panic decision forcing her to push him off before he could see her. The male let out a startled gasp, his body twisting to make him fall back to the cold wet grass that was twenty feet away. Angel's wings snapped open, her eyes widening when she saw the ground, her arms dangling off over the edge and her body gave in to a reflex of thinking it was about to hit the ground too. It took her mind a second to catch itself, realizing that she wasn't falling and the roof had caught her. Her eyes franticly looked around, reminding her of her surroundings as a dull ache began to pulse throughout the front of her body, her chest hurting the most because of it being squished against the hard surface of the roof. She winced before she looked down at the ground where she first thought she was laying and had to swallow down a gasp when she saw gray eyes staring up at her, furious glaring gray eyes. She hurried to bring her hands to the edge and push herself up, a little clumsily cause it took a couple of times of grazing her hand on the slightly sharp edge to do it but soon she was sitting up. She sighed, placing a hand against her chest to feel how hard her heart was beating and letting out a shaky breath when she felt it beating very hard against her chest, she almost thought it was trying to break out into her hand but she knew it'd calm down soon as long as she let herself breathe. With that in mind, she took in slow deep breaths and stood up, the cold air sneak attacking her exposed skin and going through the thin lace-like thread of her stockings. With most of her adrenaline settling down, the cold now made her shiver and hurry to walk back over toward the backyard, cursing under her breath for not having put some shoes on. She stepped off the roof, her wings opening immediately when she dropped to keep her from breaking her ankles. She gracefully set her feet on the cold ground, fighting off the shiver this time by wrapping her wings around herself for warmth and hugging herself, her hands rubbing at her arms as she turned and made her way back to the open backdoor. Her wings folded behind her back when she stepped in, her hand grabbing the doorknob on the way in so it'd shut. She got the door locked before leaning back against it and her hand went up to her tired eyes, rubbing them as her ears twitched down. She wondered how little amount of sleep she got before it was so rudely disturbed. Her tired eyes looked to a clock hung above the doorway to the living room, reading the two hands showed it to be two o' three in the morning. She only had three hours of sleep, which definitely wasn't enough when she had to go to work in less than seven hours, but she knew if she tried to go back to bed, she wouldn't be able to. It's one thing she always hated about her sleep habits, once she was up, she couldn't go back to sleep easily. Angel rubbed her eyes again, sighing before a decision was made in her head and it was to walk into the living room and plop her butt on the couch. If she couldn't get back to sleep, she may as well focus on something that could make her. She leaned forward, taking the remote to the tv off the coffee table and pressed the red power button, turning the tv on to the news. She lazily threw the remote back onto the table, the action jolting a memory and she leaned forward again, reaching her hand to the ground. Her keys were still there, she picked them up and set them next to the remote before she relaxed back on the soft couch, her eyes now focusing on the tv. The news wasn't something Angel paid attention too much because it would bore her but right now it was perfect to watch. Even though she was probably going to fall asleep on the couch, it was better than getting no sleep at all. So now, she was relaxing on the couch, her arm on the armrest with her hand propping her head up as she lazily watched the tv, her eyes slowly closing while she waited for her mind to get tired enough. She could manage close to six more hours if she managed to get back to sleep.
Soon, she was dozing off, her eyes falling shut when the news managed to bore her mind. She relaxed into the softness of the couch, ready to drift off but the sudden sound of what could only be detailed as hell pounding on her door made her jump awake with a small shout, her eyes snapping open and to the front door. Her ears twitched down, hating the sound and she couldn't blame them, it annoyed her to the point of frustration. The pounding continued, forcing her to get up even if she really didn't want to but instead of going to the door, she went to the window next to it and moved the curtain just enough to see who was causing the disturbing noise. To her tired surprise, a male stood outside and was pounding the door with his fists balled up tightly. A feeling of fear washed over Angel's body, causing her tail to fluff up and her wings open to follow the instinct of fight or flight. Confrontation was not something Angel liked, whether she was the one doing it or someone else did it to her, it always caused her mind to think the worst outcome. At the moment, her mind thought immediately that this angry man was the one she had pushed off the roof and she was sure it was right when she saw his eyes. She won't be forgetting those angry gray eyes of his, especially since they seemed to be burning with fire within them. She still looked over him just to be sure it was the right guy, noting that he had black hair with orange streaks in it and he looked strong, most definitely stronger than her. For a second, it made her breath in deeply as her eyes took a good look at him, her teeth biting her bottom lip before the panic set in. "Fuck.." She mumbled, stepping back and letting the curtain fall back over the window as her eyes widened. If he wasn't one to talk but attack first, he'd hurt her. This was not what she needed right now!
What had she gotten herself into by one little push...?
